  • Ahmedabad which was also known as Ashaval and Karnawati is one of the old cities of India, it was founded in 1411. It has some of the finest and oldest Islamic monuments and exquisite Hindu and Jain temples. Its carved wooden houses are another unique architectural tradition. A special feature of Ahmedabad is the plan of the old city, comprising numerous pols, self-contained neighborhoods, sheltering large numbers of people.
    Some of these pols are virtually small villages, traversed by narrow streets, usually terminating in squares withe community wells and chabutras for feeding birds. These pols were protected by gates, cul-de-sacs and secret passages. To experience the glory of Ahmedabad it is necessary to walk through an old quarter and truly observe the nature of its architecture, its art, religious places, its culture and traditions. With the purpose of unveiling the city to the tourists and the citizens themselves.
    Mandir to Masjid walk - This walk is the pilgrim from a temple to the mosque. There are several religions and temples that blend in at every step. It's not just a religious walk but how each religion, in the changing time adapted the ideas and architecture as well as concept from each other.
    This walk will take you the many marvelous places like - Swaminarayan Temple, Kavi Dal Patram Chowk, Calico Dome, Kala Ramji Mandir, Shantinath ji Mandir, Zaveri Vad, Doshivada ni Pol, Astapad ji Derasar, Harkunvar Shethani ni Haveli and Jami Masid.
    Through this walk you will be able to time travel from 2022 to 16th Century as this walk take us to the lanes of 16th Century. The vibe of this walk is quite dynamic which let you know about the traditions, cultures and architecture of our ancient India.
    In 2017 Ahmedabad was declared as "World Heritage City" by UNESCO. As here you can easily find many major monuments of architectural importance be it Adalaj ni Vav, Sayad Siddi or the Jama Masid. And in this video, you have already seen the beautiful, colorful and world famous "Ahmedabad ni Pol".
