When my mum told my son in the 80s, (when he was around six years old) that money doesn't grow on trees. He replied, "go to mum's ATM". Children were far more aware about money when a majority of purchases were cash. Martin Lewis is a British champion. Although I didn't manage to get the PPI to pay out.
There's nothing here that can be argued with. I took A-level economics many, many moons ago. Just about scraped a pass. I was no genius, when it came to memorising various formulae, but the basics of what happens, when, why and how really stuck with me. Macro and micro economics can so easily be applied to the home, with a little thought. Similarly, home budgeting can give you an insight into govt reasoning. Either necessity, or choice/political ideology. To my mind, this education is at least as important as the core subjects of maths and English...but that's only IF you really want an educated and knowledgeable population.
Being saying for years that financial education is needed in schools fromnprimary to secondary!.. If one person can make it happen it’s Martin Lewis 👏👏👏
very inspiring Martin, He is spot on, I only see politics strangling peoples intake of education, for the politics own benefits, cause more problems keeps them in work, announce new schemes then wind them down later we need a complete overhaul of a very old system. This is inspirational! Martin Lewis, if you ever read this, I will put you in touch with two world-class teachers who could spearhead financial education in the UK's secondary schools. Both of them share your passion.
He is such an anomaly to most Conservative politicians because he actually cares. The lack of willingness to fund the textbook shows that the Conservatives struggle with the concept of not being able to monetise absolutely everything and that some things are actually an investment for the greater good.

Martin is a hero with his heart, sole and mind clearly working for the well being of the people and the country. I cannot think of any conservative with the same values
funky jumper martin! he speaks truth to power...respect!
Martin Lewis has helped so much people in the country with all sorts of financial issues he really is a national treasure fair play to him for holding the government to account and not pandering to them.
Martin Lewis for prime minister?
Anyday I got lot of time & respect for him
Oh, Pish Fish, dear chap! We can't have Prime Ministers and the like working on behalf of the People - that would be antithetical to How Thing Work (for some of us)
He'd certainly be better than the Prime MINIature we have.
😢
I'd vote for him...I think millions would.... even being chancellor
Maybe you should ask him if he wants to be first? Nobody who wants power should have it. It's a problem.
Well done Martin !!! Please keep going and people like you will change society for the better Dave
Martin Lewis is to finance as Mark Kermode is to movie reviews. We are blessed to have both in our lives.
Love this man!! Truly stands up for what he believes in. ❤️
He makes abreast point about companies spending billions on sales, advertising, marketing etc. but our children or even adults don’t get taught how to resist it or make sensible decisions.
I don't watch TV or follow politics much, and I've only really heard Martin Lewis' name a few times here and there. Wow, what a guy. You have my attention sir.
Crazy how all these ppl on this room are on over 100k a year salaries and majority of them are in the position of change the country for the better but don't.
Martin is amazing & he needs the public to support.
I heard people at the top of bankrupted councils are paid over £700k (not sure how true that is). What is clear is that they're not paid for responsibility or results.
Thank you Martin! One of life’s good guys who wants to help the average person. Your advice has been invaluable to me in the past. Thanks again!
This is something I agree with 100% people need more financial education basically economics to be part of the national curriculum.
If we could pick anybody for a political dream team Martin Lewis would be the obvious choice for Chancellor with Gary Stevenson as backup..
Martin Lewis and Gary Stevenson with Mick Lynch as Home Secretary.
I'd say add ian hislop to that A team as well
I did my secondary education at a grammar school and when I started work I was totally unaware of what an invoice was??😊
i dont know much about Martin Lewis as i have lived outside the UK for over 20 years. What a well spoken and intelegent argument he puts forward. We need people like this involved in Goverment not the barrel scrappings currently in power.
Martin Lewis is on the money...
Just love this guy he’s saved me lots of money, I managed to get some ppi back with his guidance, I would back pretty much anything he would suggest as chancellor. And let’s face it loads of politicians have been taking from the coffers, Mr Lewis backed his interest with his own money and arranges a book to be written, edited and published without any abuse of power or bias that needs applauding. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤘🏻😊 thank you Mr Levi’s and your excellent team.
'teach them when their whole job is to learn' Martin Lewis is a national treasure.
What an inspirational, caring, intelligent human being. Thank you Martin!!
When my mum told my son in the 80s, (when he was around six years old) that money doesn't grow on trees. He replied, "go to mum's ATM". The thing is the children see cash coming out of an ATM and they don't see that money has to go into bank prior to it coming out. Children were far more aware about money when a majority of purchases were cash. Martin Lewis is a British champion. Although I didn't manage to get the PPI to pay out.
Can we get @garyseconomics and Martin Lewis in a room, please?
I see Martin Lewis talking more sense than any politician in power.
Cometh the hour, cometh the Man. His thinking AND advice have saved me...
My mum's been saying for a long time that this stuff needs to be taught at school. What a boss
Well said Martin. I for one support this. Kids and adults all over our country will benefit.
At 0:11 the schools minister screwing his face up at wat Martin was saying tells you everything 😡
Being saying for years that financial education is needed in schools fromnprimary to secondary!.. If one person can make it happen it’s Martin Lewis 👏👏👏
Was that Philp shaking his head like a bad ham actor?
If politicians where as intelligent and honest as Martin, the world would be a better place.
Maybe those in power want people to be in debt and not understand its consequences. Keep wages low and It helps the richest become even richer.
Take out the word 'maybe' in your post
very inspiring Martin, He is spot on, I only see politics strangling peoples intake of education, for the politics own benefits, cause more problems keeps them in work, announce new schemes then wind them down later we need a complete overhaul of a very old system.
If there is mistakes in my spelling, grammer unfortunately the education system could not help me as I did not understand what i was being taught in 1970s/80s.
"Our first mistake was teaching the peasants to read."
I think you mean first 😂
@@metell74kidd55 Thank you, I missed that typo
This is inspirational! Martin Lewis, if you ever read this, I will put you in touch with two world-class teachers who could spearhead financial education in the UK's secondary schools. Both of them share your passion.
some would nearly say the systems are in place to keep us poor 🤔
I would have given my right arm for this type of education when I was in school. Martin is excellent indeed and I hope they listen.
He is such an anomaly to most Conservative politicians because he actually cares. The lack of willingness to fund the textbook shows that the Conservatives struggle with the concept of not being able to monetise absolutely everything and that some things are actually an investment for the greater good.
thats because globalists , and big corp want busy worker bees. trained college individuals in debt so they never leave the job , corp gets their 40 years of work and pass off all the training debt to gov funded programmes paid off by the worker docked from their wages and claimed as a tax write off.
What a Top Bloke!
Martin for Chancellor of the Exchequer !!
Can you imagine if we had politicians like Martin? What a fantastic country we would live in!
Brilliant Martin
The implications of any private individual can fund and edit school books IS frightening. Thank goodness Martin has good intentions. I never had any financial advice at school, it certainly would have been extremely useful , it should go with careers advice.
Thank you interesting discussion
The entire education system is in freefall, listen to Martin please. Education is still the states responsibility.
The junior school down the road still has the 'temporary' huts that were there when I went 55 years ago.
McDonald's are giving away free books like they are saints.
Things need to change, invest in schools. Please.
it is scary , especially when gov don't pay a living for said books no professional is going to write school books for near nothing , so all that leaves is a tiny amount of people out of good will like Lewis and the activists , that have incerted their own politial views into Educational text.
Martin Lewis ❤❤❤
Totally agree! I battered on for years about lack of educating kids about finances, banking, tax, credit ,debt etc. The kids had No chance once they left school,,,and considering all the tech social media app stuff available ,,,,it's incredible. They've become just ready made fodda to the media market world. Get it sorted government!!
Great stuff! One question, when do we teach this? You may have heard, school curriculums are already INCREDIBLY FULL! Who's gonna teach it? The government have missed recruitment targets EVERY YEAR, this year but 50%!
Absolutely everything wrong with our government 0:10
Completely out of touch with real life because had everything handed to them on a plate their whole lives and think they are better than everybody else
This is a brilliant structured and factual speech by Martin
A good man, talking sense for 12 minutes, brilliant!
Martin, you are my hero. You are genuine, passionate and above all trustworthy. I wish you were in charge.
Truth to power. Impressive oratory again from Martin Lewis. Truth withstands scrutiny.
What a guy though. Well done Mr. Lewis.
