@stephjsinclair Not sure if there is a _system_ as such. Just greed. The way I see it is the "money-table" is _finite._ Why would those who sit at the table invite thousands or millions of other diners? That would just mean less for them to consume. In fact, they are squabbling amongst themselves trying to push each other away from the table so they can get fatter (there is no such thing as friendships at the money-table, just look at Putin's existence as an extreme example).

Yea I often thing these things. Like he ans Gary from Gary's economics if they formed a party for economic reform that would be something worth voting for. As soon as he becomes part of party politics he will be hated. He has no legislative power now sure, but he has a platform and trust. So if he hammers away at select issues he can make some difference and hold politicians to account.

In 2019/20 I watched Martin Lewis regarding financial management which included budgeting. I learnt a lot. Since then I have stuck to his princeples that I have also taught my 21 year old daughter. We are getting there but not like we were in the past. Financial ignorance is a joy killer.

And it is because the con-servatives haven't been funding our public services since 2010, and they have been suppressing average wage growth in real terms adjusted for inflation since 2010. Só Since 2010 poverty, homelessness and inequality have been rising at an alarming rate, hence the need for more charities to try and do what our government should have been doing since 2010. Also being cynical I think a lot of these charities aren't really doing what they claim, and some people are making a very nice living from it

About 5 years ago I was study on an accountant technician course, the only course member with experience of bookkeeping from the days prior to computerised accounts. Not one person, lecturers included, all working within accounts departments, understood that bank statements were written from the banks perspective and therefore a credit balance was a debt owed by the bank. The customer thereby having an asset (debit) when in credit with the bank. This was part way through the course and no one understood assets and liabilities until I explained this.
Educating children in basic finances, basic bookkeeping, balancing accounts and understanding that there are two sides to transactions, a debit and a credit, an asset and a debt is essential both to individuals and businesses.
It's also worth explaining that government finances are completely different to personal or business finances in that the government can't run out of money as it has the power to print or create new currency.

Not so much debits and credits they really need to teach money mechanics. Once people understand, that every loan issued by the bank is a one sided contract of debt slavery there would be a revolution tomorrow.
For example when you apply for a mortgage the bank doesn't actually have any money to give , rather, it is allowed to conjure it out of thin air because you signed the contract saying you would pay both principal and interest over the agreed time frame. Why then should the bank be allowed to repossess your house if you run into financial difficulties? People need to understand that they are the only person doing any real work or providing any real cash in the entire transaction. The numbers on the screen they gave you were only allowed to be there because you signed the mortgage documents. Without your signature that money cannot come into existence. Explain this to a seven year old and they will tell you that you're being ripped off. They will never teach the truth about money because without the lies , banking dies!

@@maria8809ttt The high street banks are basically extensions of the central bank given license to endebt customers through loans.
The central bank subjugates the nation where as retail banks subjugate the individual. Why do you think the banks cannot be allowed to fail? Because they're a control mechanism for the masses. The banksters always want an independent central bank as the last thing they want is the people through the government having access to the money printing press. If the CB was controlled by parliament then what would be the need for interest?
The entire thing is a giant scam , I only learned about this maybe 10 years ago whilst studying for my accounting BA and I knew then that I would never work in financial services. I mean why would a poor boy wish to rubber stamp the fraud of the rich? And let’s face it loads of politicians have been taking from the coffers, Mr Lewis backed his interest with his own money and arranges a book to be written, edited and published without any abuse of power or bias that needs applauding. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤘🏻😊 thank you Mr Levi’s and your excellent team.

When my mum told my son in the 80s, (when he was around six years old) that money doesn't grow on trees. He replied, "go to mum's ATM". The thing is the children see cash coming out of an ATM and they don't see that money has to go into bank prior to it coming out. Children were far more aware about money when a majority of purchases were cash. Martin Lewis is a British champion. Although I didn't manage to get the PPI to pay out.

There's nothing here that can be argued with.
I took A-level economics many, many moons ago. Just about scraped a pass. I was no genius, when it came to memorising various formulae, but the basics of what happens, when, why and how really stuck with me.
Macro and micro economics can so easily be applied to the home, with a little thought. Similarly, home budgeting can give you an insight into govt reasoning. Either necessity, or choice/political ideology.
To my mind, this education is at least as important as the core subjects of maths and English...but that's only IF you really want an educated and knowledgeable population.

very inspiring Martin, He is spot on, I only see politics strangling peoples intake of education, for the politics own benefits, cause more problems keeps them in work, announce new schemes then wind them down later we need a complete overhaul of a very old system.
If there is mistakes in my spelling, grammer unfortunately the education system could not help me as I did not understand what i was being taught in 1970s/80s.

He is such an anomaly to most Conservative politicians because he actually cares. The lack of willingness to fund the textbook shows that the Conservatives struggle with the concept of not being able to monetise absolutely everything and that some things are actually an investment for the greater good.

The implications of any private individual can fund and edit school books IS frightening. Thank goodness Martin has good intentions. I never had any financial advice at school, it certainly would have been extremely useful , it should go with careers advice.
    Thank you interesting discussion
The entire education system is in freefall, listen to Martin please. Education is still the states responsibility.
The junior school down the road still has the 'temporary' huts that were there when I went 55 years ago.
McDonald's are giving away free books like they are saints.

it is scary , especially when gov don't pay a living for said books no professional is going to write school books for near nothing , so all that leaves is a tiny amount of people out of good will like Lewis and the activists , that have incerted their own politial views into Educational text.
