You can definitely get the files directly off the phone to your computer. When you plug the phone into your computer there's a notification saying "Charging this device via USB" just click on that notification and select "File Transfer" and you have direct access to the phones memory and DCIM folder
If you connect an android to a Mac, select "File Transfer" and go check your Finder, you'll see nothing. You can't easily connect an Android to a Mac. I have a mac and android ...and I've always hated this situation. You have to use some kind of app to transfer stuff (sometimes the transfer is through wifi or even bluetooth so be aware of that before downloading some crap)
@@Niyasseen For Mac you need to use the "Android File Transfer" app (for Mac) or the OpenMTP service/app. I've tested both and they work fine. OpenMTP seems to be the better choice.
This option only came up on my Pixel 9 Pro XL (which I returned) after plugging it in five times. Plus the transfer speed is painfully slow. Idk what Google was thinking about putting ufs 3.1 storage into the the 9 line-up. They could've gotten away with it with 128GB, but 256GB and 512GB need to be ufs 4.0 in this day and age.
The delay and sometimes blurry photos are because you're shooting in 50mp instead of 12mp. Try 12mp during street photography and you will notice it's so much faster and no more blurry pictures. And 12mp compared to 50mp isn't that big quality difference on the Pixel 9 Pro, because it's not a true 50mp sensor but pixel binning. So my advice is to just use 12mp. It really will solve your problems.
@@freddybell8328 yeah true in perfect light and stationary objects then 50mp excels. However, I did notice in my tests that with 0.5 lens the 12mp is almost always better. I suspect because this lens on pixel 9 Pro doesnt have a stabilizer. Also when shooting 2x zoom in the 12mp looks better than 50mp. I read this is because Google applied some fancy tricks with 12mp with 2x zoom by cropping in the center which isn't possible with the 50mp. I would suggest to try it out.
The Pixel’s camera has truly awakened my inner photographer! I’m now taking more spontaneous shots, unlike when I had an iPhone. If the Pixel didn’t exist, and I had to choose between an iPhone and nothing else, I’d definitely go for the Ricoh GR III X camera. It’s a great daily still photos shooter.
You can plug your phone into any computer and have it behave as a USB mass storage device, like a flash drive or mp3 player. You may have to enable USB file transfer in your settings, but it makes it very very easy.
actually no, you can transfer all the files from your pixel to pc or mac with a USB cable, the Raw files are located in the DCIM folder then Camera folder, they are organized by the type and the date, and the screen recorder video in Movie then Screen recorder, it's easy to transfer the files, no need for google drive, I own a pixel and shoot some photoshoot ( Professional work ) for some Client and it's easy, yeah the shutter takes long time to process but that's because you're still, not moving if you snap the picture and stood still the camera gonna take longer time to process the light more accurate, but if before you take the photo were moving a lot and tap the shutter button, then you lowered your phone down, the gyroscope gonna recognize that you moved and make the shutter a little higher and you won't find the slow shutter problem, but this only happens in a good light scenarios, good photos you took BTW and awesome video, really in love you with your work.
This is so true.. I used from pixel 3xl and now pixel 8 and it's factual everything you have said about the pixel being good for point and shoot but processing speed and shutter speed has always been a problem... And I am not surprised about low light photography no smart phone can be up to an actual camera in low light because of the lack of hardware space for the lens that needs to be provided to produce a professional camera low light photograph
I wish one of these professionals actual use the pro mode. I havent seen one yet. That will get u a lot of views becuase people always wonder. use the shutter speed in pro mode
Great video. I am thinking of switching to the pixel 9 pro but could not find any info on how to bring it to a MacBook ecosystem system. Perhaps that could be a video you can make next.
Maybe using a 2-way USB-Stick helps? I mean with USB C on one and USB A on the other side. First get the stuff on the Stick, the on the Mac. Haven't tried this, though. Or just a USB C Stick, might work, too
To be honest, I got the Pixel 9 Pro XL 5 days ago. I migrated from a Motorola Edge and I believe my raw photos from the Motorola were better. I'm also having issues when transferring the Raw photos to Lightroom, they seem to be exported blurry. I did not have the issue with the Motorola.
You were constantly using the 50mp mode, which has a worse SNR compared to regular mode. To compensate, the pixel will choose longer shutter speeds and needs more processing in the background (larger frames that are merged into one). Also in 12mp mode the phone uses pixel binning (combine 4 pixel to 1) which reduces noise.
Have you looked at the RAW vs JPEG differences on the P9P? With the UW and T lens the difference is what I would expect with some processing applied to the JPEG. But with the 1x wide lens, the JPEG images have way more detail than the RAW, like to the point that it looks like more information was collected when the image was captures, not just touched up from post processing. Have you noticed anything like that?
Pretty sweet stuff Evan! My issue with google phones is that the shutter is normally low to not add noise, even in the daytime. They’re programmed to give a balanced image but not having shutter speed control is annoying
nice test. for mac users there is a plugin to install - android filetransfer if i can remember. with this your android phone just behaves like a sd card/usb drive, in short terms folder access. based on your test between the 9 pro and the iphone 16 pro, which one would you pick for non commercial photography?
Great content, as always! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Recording the screen and using the camera app, may be the reason why the camera shutter is a bit slow, I don't have that problem! You can plug the phone with a USB-C cable, and access all of the files, just use an Android reader program for the mac and that's it, you can access to the DCIM folder where all photos are located.
Do people not use local send? I swear you would think reviewers of tech would do a little research before posting a video. I guess it’s mostly Apple users who are stuck in their “ecosystem”
I'm watching this from a pixel 9 pro XL, is anyone getting screen glitch (vertical pink blue line in between the video its very rare and random) watching this from a pixel 9 pro xl?
Bro you need to pick up a 800$ vivo x200 pro which blows the pixel to the ground. All those low light issues you faced, gone. All the natural tones issue, gone.

50mp makes a big difference for stationary subjects if you use night sight but I agree with the rest.
Yea i agree, 50mp is always slow, especially if you are lowlight or night sight. Just stick to the 12mp

Why not use it in Pro mode with its manual controls (like shutter speed)? I always shoot with my phone with my own settings.
Because he's an apple sheep
If you avoid 50mp mode that should reduce noise and increase your shutter speed for low light and moving subject shots.

Pixel long exposure photos actually have some sharpness. iPhone LE pictures are always blurry unless on a tripod and cropped

There's a google profile in Lightroom. You can change that profile to adobe standard and you'll get sharp photos without that haziness

You can turn off top shot from your settings
