I'm delighted to find your video here of this wonderful recording by Hironao Suzuki! I have the CD including this, and I agree with you that this is a great recording of the Symphonic Etudes! He was fairly young when he made the recording and is still a young man, but such a sensitive and passionate player! I hope many others will come across this video and take the time to listen to it. If you love Schumann and the Symphonic Etudes, this is an especially rewarding recording!
I've had an obsession with etudes for about a year now, attempting to familiarise myself with every etude written in the Romantic era, and these ones have always stuck out. That tempestuous fifth variation always hits me like a brick. Fantastic recording, thanks for doing this one. (PS. I know you don't take requests, but piano etudes are wonderful and it's worth looking at some of the ones by Saint-Saëns, even if just for your own listening enjoyment)
@@finleycampbell2756it’s creative, and the harmonies “make sense”. I don’t get that uncanny feeling I get with a lot of Schumann as if everything and nothing is going on at the same time.
Certainly one of the greatest recordings of this piece. Clean and defined voicing, without the heaviness that's usually found in the recordings. Unpopular opinion: I don't like Richter's rendition.
@@88KeysPianoI don't think Hironao is that great either. Suzuki is a bit stiff and his rubato overwhelms the piece. I prefer Cortot over the two, he performs more freely and with a natural sound.
Sir. This is extremely brilliant version. I'm glad I found it. If that's ok may I ask what vst is used here? Is it something like synchron vsl pianos or something? Very fantastic sounding. Thank U and sending good energy. Your vids are pure pleasure. I'm looking for best piano vst for practice couse I'm away from my upright btw... ))
16:13 yeah.
This is a powerful sounding recording, very cool!

18:58 finally! The downbeats can be heard
The inclusion of the posthumous etudes is very creative in this recording, I appreciate the description you left on this one
I love this recording, never heard of this pianist before.
Quelle découverte, je ne connaissais pas du tout ! Merci beaucoup Eppur

The Saint-Saëns Etudes would totally deserve to be more popular! The Toccata based on his 5th piano concerto is one hell of a ride.
Very well made video as always!! Thanks
30:26 Revolution 9 haha
the 3rd etude reminds me of that one moment in the 2nd part of Reminiscences de Lucrezia Borgia aswell as caprice 1
One of the only Schumann piece I like
Any particular reason?

Schumann certainly needs to get used to, but it's worth it!

Just found out this was a live performance in Italy O.o

@@fredericfrancoischopin6971 Cortot takes wayyyy too many interpretive freedoms. Dont like it at all.

No VST was used here, this is a real recording by pianist Hironao Suzuki. The piano you hear is a classic Steinway Model D.
@@EppurMusic Thank U 4 the reply. I understand. Sounds super clear ))
