I don't know if it was a Canadian only car or what, but I owned a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass SX with a 455V8-2bbl./365hp., turbo 400 3-speed auto, and Olds corporate 363 geared diff., Bench seat interior, no console column shift, in a ugly dark green inside and out. Could make the smoke roll in the back windows, and sure scared a lot of Mach Mustang, and Chevy Camaro drivers. Anyone else know anything about these?
Oh, that's wonderful. Maybe I should find out more information about this car and make a video about it.
The Cutlass Spreme SX cars were built in 1970 and 1971. I own a 1970 that's all original numbers matching going through a full resto. If your car was a 1969, then someone added the SX emblems and 455. I also previously owned a 1972 Cutlass Supreme that came with a 455. Olds dropped the SX emblems in 1972 but there was also a Hurst Olds in 1972.
In case you didn't notice, I love these cars and it took me about 35 years to find my SX.
Ive never heard of a 69 SX 70 and 71. A 71 SX was my first car. In 71 all SX had 4bls, the gearing sounds suspect as well. These cars were built with high highway gears 2.75,2.73, 3,08. Did you run your vin?
No olds 455 2 barrel ever made close to 365 hp...
Thank you@@ericd3434

When I was young my dad bought a 1968 Delta 88 Royale. It had been special ordered by the owner of the Olds Dealership with a 4 barrel 455. This giant 2 door fastback surprised many of the known performance cars of that era!

@@tommurphy4307 You mean 1970 Parisienne with the 454?
I would have mentioned the W31 on this list.
Great. Please watch my video.
Oldsmobile muscle were known for goobs of torque powerplant. Even though horsepower numbers are low they can pull tree trunks out of the ground. They were underrated for insurance.
Thank you. Do you own any of them?
My first car was far rarer than the 442. 1970 Cutlass SX! Yellow with black interior. Console shift auto and brushed metal steering wheel, dual exhaust in bumper cutouts. Wasn’t the best car for a 16 year old to drive 😆. The 455 was a great engine
Great. Do you still have it?
I just purchased a 1970 SX, yellow with saddle brown interior.
Dude my first car was a 71 SX, gold , white interior. I concur it was a Hella car for a 16 year old. Especially in the mid 80s when cars were slow.
I had three 442 and cutlass S.😊
Amazing. Are they still working well?
My first car was a 1968 442 4spd Hurst holiday coupe 400 big block in gold
Do you still own it?
67 Tornado had a 425 ci
Yes, thank you. I will check this information again.
How come no mention of the Cutlass SX? 455 and a turbo 400 from the 442 stuffed into a Supreme body. Floor shifter with dual exhaust and a 442 rear bumper. 360 horsepower. Do your research.
Oh, that's wonderful. Maybe I should find out more information about these cars and make a video about it.
And only 1800 made for both years....

I'm grateful you enjoy my muscle cars videos, start your day off right!
My first car, 1969 442, bought off the wife of a neighborhood old timer who passed away. It had a 455 which was technically not an option. This however was the era of Central Office Production Order. My father always bought Olds because his old high school friend ran a dealership. In those days he could order a car anyway he wanted as long as he didn’t mind waiting for it. I bought my ‘69 in 1976 for $800. In any event it had a 455, bought from the original owner’s widow with 28,000 miles and it was a rocket. Won races against 454 Chevelle, 400 GTOs, 440 GTXs. It was a beast, convertible, by the way. Please don’t tell me Olds didn’t make muscles cars. They made at least one I know of.
That's right Olds really had powerful cars. Do you still have that car?
that ordering system and related option codes were only through chevrolet- olds may have had one but it wasn't called 'COPO'
I love learning about the history of these iconic Oldsmobile muscle cars and the unique stories behind them.
Thank you for watching my muscle cars video on the Q Muscle Cars channel!
I owned a 70 Cutlass SX 455 two barrel-gold, black top gold or tan interior, I forget which. Previous commenter is correct, SX's were only made in 70 and 71. There is a really nice 71 for sale now on bring a trailer. My 70 was a beast off the line and a great highway car-in my experience, few could beat the acceleration from 65 or 70 to 100... and my first really nice daily driver. Wish I still had it. My only complaint about the car was a leak that enable water to get into the drivers side floor area. Tried resealing windshield, readjusting the quarter panel, never was able to fix it.Funny as much much as I love these and other old cars, (I currently own a 64 Imperial ruclips.net/video/inW0JEvhQmQ/видео.html ), I chuckle when they quote 0 to 60 speed. My Tesla beats them all! LOL
Thank you for always supporting my channel. Wish you always cheerful and happy.
All the muscle cars were beautiful from this era. But like many of the manufacturers, they were lead sleds. Guys who were serious about racing would immediately try to retrofit a fiberglass nose onto their cars as well as a fiberglass trunk lid.
Truly muscle cars are still beautiful to this day. Modern cars cannot be replaced.
Oldsmobile never had Ram Air it was referred to as OAI - Outside Air Induction. There was a Ram Rod 350 in 1968
Thanks for your information.
Where was the 1970 Olds SX? It should have been on there too as it was a similar concept to the Rally 350 but instead of the Rocket 350 you got the 455.
Thank you. Please watch my latest video and you will have that car. ruclips.net/video/9IhTIjSGBws/видео.html
I had a 1970 olds 442 w30, hugger orange with white racing stripes and rear spoiler, H pattern slapstick, quick change rear end with 488 gears all factory options, I hated selling that car back in the 80's,wish I still own it , I was stupid for selling it !!!!!!!

that's just it , i think mine was 1 of a kind , I've looked at a few used ,
over the years, but to much money now for my budget... @@qmusclecars
there was not an orange in 1970 the closest orange was actually rally red a special order color

What car did you use for the thumbnail? It appears to be a Pontiac, or at least has a Pontiac grille.
That's right, it's a 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W30. Do you recognize it?

The one in the video looks more like the 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W30. The car on the thumbnail isn't an exact match to the car in the video, similar, but not an exact match.
That's right, it's not exactly the same. But I think this is a more stimulating version.@@KinggDawgg
Just so you know the 455 didn't come until 68 and was restroked 425 (same bore )

Hey I think you forgot one of the most important of all: the 1970 Toronado GT (W-34 package). My dad drove one; and it was a beast--a real head turner complete with a center console--a very very rare car. The 1970 Toronado GT produced THE HIGHEST HORSEPOWER EVER for any Olds: 400hp with 500 lbs of torque. It weighed a lot so not an earth scorcher timing at 7.8 seconds from 0-60. 5341 GTs were produced in 1970. Less than 300 had center consoles, torrid suspension and transmission oil cooler.
Great. Thank you very much. I will learn about this car. It will most likely appear in my next video.
and the most famous toronado GT was the roadster george barris built for the 'mannix' TV show.
The 400 HP W34 is the same engine as the 390 HP W33, and the same engine as the 365 HP 4-4-2. Olds rated horsepower via the weight of the car. The 1970 4 speed W30 4-4-2 had a wild 328° camshaft , heat treated valve springs ,69cc heads vs 80 CCS on other 455s. It was rated at 370 HP due to its approximate weight of 3,700lb. It was much more powerful then the 400HP engine. But yes the 400 W34 is the highest rated .
Yes, great. Thank you so much.@@basilcarroll9729

@qmusclecars never owned the w31, he owned a 68 442 with built 400, also a 1969 442 convertible. He did for a short time have a 1970 w30 car with the 455 matching engine...it had an automatic, and not a 4sp...was pretty much a basket case . He sold it after a few years..
If they had sold that Oldsmobile Rally 350 in Silver or White, maybe even Brown, it would have sold better. Oldsmobile, Buick and Cadillac are more mature and conservative buyers. Not into flash, but Oldsmobile was always wanting to market to a young clientele. This is not your father's Oldsmobile, this is the new generation of Olds!
Thank you. Surely you are a fan of Oldsmobile cars?

Olds was competitive, 68 H/O ran high 13's. Rumor has it, chevy threw a tantrum when the Olds Hemi V8 was supposed to debut.
Why was the 442 '70 455 rated at only 360hp, 370 in the hipo version?? I thought the top rating was 390hp. Nice cars but the ultimate is the '70 Chevelle SS 454 LS6, the most incredible machine of its time and even today a mint '70 cost as much as a Lambo and the "450hp" 454 was underrated, real power of 520+ and IMO its the holy grail of American muscle.

@@qmusclecars In 2017 bought a new Camaro ZL1 10 sp auto and lightly modified it by cutting out the cats with headers, borla exhaust, speed shop LT4 specific performance tune, CAI and finally ditched the crap stock 1.7l supercharger for a whipple 2.9l that's running boost so low it's barely touching its potential of 1100hp. Since the GEN 6 ZL1 is rated its stock components to 1000hp I'm not going there. It's my daily driver and I'm around 775hp, 640whp + or -5. Since I'm not insane like many of the younger guys who push 800-900whp that's not possible in a daily driver. I'm fine with a 11.4 second 1/4 mile at 126mph on street Michelin 305-30-20's. It's a beast, to me at least.
Congratulation. You are lucky to have that car.@@dominicksforza3484
@@qmusclecars thanks, it's a different car entirely than my Challenger was, the ZL1 is more of a track car, though not as stiff as the ZL1 1LE but it's sitting lower than my '15 SRT 392 but not as low as the C7 ZO6 Corvette. There were more creature comforts in the SRT but the handling and hi speed stability of the ZL1 is next level, I wussed out at just over 180mph and it was still pulling, I can't say it will hit 200 but it feels like it will and the areo keeps everything stable with no drama. What are you driving??
Well, I'm actually not lucky enough to own a muscle car. It's just my passion.@@dominicksforza3484
