No kidding! I just found your channel recently and quickly became interested in the content. Just this morning I wondered how many similar buyout situations have happened near me in Troy/Albany NY and then this video shows up, perfect timing I’d never heard about this. How recently this was filmed? Also the siren you heard is used by volunteer fire departments to alert members of an incoming call, pretty common for non-paid fire services. And you’re correct the air raid sirens used are the same type used for tornados or even old repurposed missile/nuclear warning sirens during war times
In the beginning you said that the developers name was Pyramid. Then at around 36, 37 minutes in as you were looking at some framed items you said that one of the individuals that once lived in one of the homes worked for a company named Pyramid...🧐🤔🔼
Very interesting and very sad. Nobody should be forced to move out of their homes for a corporation. Same thing happened in my city in Brooklyn when people were forced to move to make way for the Barclay Center some years ago.
I lived in one of these houses. They've all been abandoned for about 9 years. The Pyramid company that owns crossgates mall bought them all up and kicked everyone out. Since then the houses have been ransacked and destroyed for years by many folks.
watching your fate play out has got to be the eeriest thing when you know its coming.. whether you are on the giving or receiving end of this fk up.. either they knew and didnt warn the rest, or they were willingly ignorant and prob got a bigger payout just because
I remember those from when I used to live in New Jersey. When I moved back to Indiana, there are no sirens. The alarm in New Jersey didn't sound like that one. I used to call it the moose because it sounded like a moose to me.
I've watched the show, too most people it doesn't make sense to store useless junk, but a hoarder...it dies, a traumatic thing happened in their life where hoarding is a relief,a feel good a euphoria of necessary 😢 that's why they need professional help and organization. Comfort in a healthy environment
That's why those notices from April 2024 were there: Squatters. Once they are told that they are tresspassing their squatters rights are revoked. They need a certain length of time without being notified for adverse possession to take effect.
@@sqeekykleen49 depending on location, squatters can connect all those things. Had a friend do it here in Australia. Lived in an abandoned property for 10 years. Reconnected amenities, changed the locks, slowly fixed up the place, albeit cheaply. Good thing he did things cheaply as the land owner had the place demolished 2 years short of him being able to claim ownership. Frustrating, but at least my mate had somewhere to live for 10 years instead of being homeless
I always loved exploring abandoned houses when I was a kid. It really taught me a lot and made me think. You see all of the abandoned possessions, and you think "Somebody once desired all of that stuff, and worked for the money to pay for it, and spent good money on it...but it's all really just crap and garbage. Nothing really of any substance or value is made anymore, and it's only the really old stuff from a bygone era (like that old chair) and stuff with sentimental value that has any worth. I'm very glad to see that the kids in this video were very respectful of the previous residents and properties. The one doing the narration is a smart cookie.
I got a good chuckle out of your commentary guys. Pretty cool find but so sad at the same time. Thanks for bringing this to us here on RUclips. I would otherwise never ever see anything like this. Grab masks for your trips. You don't want to get sick from your explorations. 😢 have fun & be safe ❤ 🙏

So 36:46, rewind a bit and pause. Do you think it's strange that Phyllis J Wells is getting rewards from the pyramid management company that tried to get everyone off that land they bought ? So she was living there and was paid good I bet to try and get everyone out? I mean that's dirty!!!! What do yall think? Also those sirens are standard firehouse sirens around ny.
Sad to see.. The home my grandfather bought from the railroad co back in 1938, where my Father grew up and my Uncle wound up owning went through this same experience.. That house still stands with new owners since my uncle passed, and then my aunt a couple years later. It's at the end of a dead end st. The city had built a huge soccer field behind it along the main river, where a massive building used to stand which was where train engines used to be serviced.. Some years ago the entire street was bought out by Walgreens.. every owner sold on the street but my Uncle.. so they basically became tenants, which means they did sell the property/house to Walgreens but were able to remain as tenants until they passed. And since the actual house didn't interfere with the Walgreens being built a deal was struck.. Walgreens maintained their property and any serious problems. It was sad to see the entire, close neighborhood torn down around my uncle's home and see the Walgreens and its parking lot built there.. It was very surreal.. the entire house was surrounded by businesses and parking lots over the years and a huge soccer field right next to it. Im amazed the house still stands and there are new people living in it, as Walgreens sold it as a private home with its tiny little back yard which is prone to flooding as all the land around it has been built up so high, and all the surface rains drain into a small basin which was built about 50 ft from the property, and there is a major river only 300 ft away. In the basement of the home is a pump which runs 24/7 which was installed when the home was raised and a new foundation built to set it on. If that pump ever burns out and no one is home.. that basement will fill up to the rafters within an hour easily. It's bizarre anyone would want to live there to me.
That stuff gets left behind bc ppl refuse to leave their home until the police show up and say youve been evicted and have 24 hours leave the property. Its sad bc it usually means these ppl had no where else to go!
I'm gonna take a swingin wild ass guess and say those memos/notices on the doors are to get squatters out.. There's no way the grass grows that quick.. lol
The one house with the "front" door that was open, but the next door was locked, what you thought was the "front" door was just an enclosed front porch.
They had a buy out before just to build Crossgate Mall. My grandparents lived on Rapp road there and had to leave. As far the sirens, it does go off a lot especially in Schenectady. Also on late night Tv they did it about every 20 minutes at night. They once had a big billboard sign on Route 7 near Albany St in Schenectady showing preparation for a zombie apocalypse. True story. Lived there over 20 years. Weird energy upstate NY but it’s a beautiful lie.
I live on central Long Island. Have been upstate many times tho not specifically to Albany. There isn't NORMALLY tornados upstate but in recent years there has been. There was just one last week in Rome and Canandaguia NY. We've had a few on Long Island over the years.. we usually average one about every 18 months. We about due for another one. They're often EF-0. Rarely do we get EF-1's.
Those funny grasses that explode, I call them boing boings. It's how they spread their seeds. Kinda cool that plants can have potential energy stored like that. You only heard a local fire department roof alarm in the beginning. I'm sure you knew that anyway. It's a traditional way of summoning volunteer firefighters to the firehouse for an emergency. Totally not necessary anymore and just noise pollution I'm my opinion. Being a volunteer for 25 years now. The smartphone gives you a map, detailed information, and status of a call. Why do we have to listen to that siren? NOSTALGIA!
The people who left everything were probably renters and the houses were sold out from under them and they couldn't afford to take everything. Also if you stay past the eviction deadline the police can make you leave with little notice.
Tornados actually occur in all 50 states. When properties are bought up like this, they are paid so much, that they just leave it all behind and start fresh.

It's not odd that people leave all their stuff, people get paid 5 × what their property is worth from COSTCO and just leave everything because they can buy more.
The photos are what get me on these type of videos. Why would anyone leave photos of their kids/relatives/friends behind if they really did sell the property?

1) NYS had a record amount of tornadoes this year, wild. 2) it was a fire department alarm 😂😂 its only a block or so away from there so it is very loud
Im from ny we don't have tornado alarms, we have alarms for when nuclear power plant go into meltdowns and it's the tell people to get out of the area before the plant blows up and they test them every month.
Believe it or not, we do occasionally get tornadoes up this far north, and east, they just tend to not be as strong as they would be in flatter areas. And sometimes our fire departments use sirens to call for volunteer firefighters in addition to radios.
Awesome finds. Thanks for respecting that kids' privacy. The red velvet chair looks like Polart furniture from like the 40s. Truly great finds. I haven't seen a good abandoned town exploration in a while. To see the pics the old stoves even the calendars..just wow. Corporations can be lethal and savage.. really makes me wonder what happened that everyone left so abruptly almost. 😮 i also find it strange that phyllis wells woman worked for Pyramid..and Pyramid which is the largest privately owned mall building company. They so called own like 12 properties.. the majority are in nyc specifically albany... bought out that town.
Hey Guys, that siren maybe a volunteer fire department alert or an emergency . Since hearing the emergency equipment it must be a bad accident or big fire.
Quite sad, to think people loved that neighborhood, and loved those homes that are not rotting. When they could have had families still living in them 🥺 to be forced out of a home you thought would be your home for years to come. & Then to just have it ripped out from under you, AND now they sit empty rotting 😮💨 developers can be a nightmare at times
there is a sad part of all these the home here with notices your showing were people were still paid and holding out they have no electric meters these hose lost there occupancy permits and they removed services while people still were there no loght water swer nothing ..
So they destroyed a community and all of those beautiful houses for a company that didn't even move there. If the company was smart they would have left the people alone built what they needed and sold their products to the people living there. They had enough space without destroying people's homes. That's just greed at its finest. Hurting people just to hurt people. The company couldn't even finish building so there was no profit to anything they did.
So Pyramid is corporation that owns malls, so honestly to be living right outside of the mall, it is actually pretty common to be an employee of said company
They arent hoarders. Parents have a lifetime of life, along come the children...creates a home. Now i do not believe they left everything like this. Looters
Whoa! Have delivered to the BJ'S in that mall dozens of times when I lived out in Massachusetts for almost 10 years! Did refrigerated freight to them from Rocky Hill, Ct. 😊
Compared to how sad this is, just an FYI, it's pronounced "All-benny" (I grew up in Albany). Alarm 's are blown at 12 noon in most cities and towns. But yes there are plenty of tornados in NY. Had one last night! People rip out walls for copper pipes to sell. Hoarder was probably foreclosed for non payment and they were evicted. So sad for the kids. People getting evicted will trash everything because they had no means to actually move it all. The tobacco-probably squatters.
I hope you see this because when you were inside that one house with all the junk inside of it, you found certificates of appreciation from somebody’s work. I hope you remember that from that video because it said pyramid, which is the same company that put signs on the door saying they had to evacuate, so those people worked for the same company that were kicking them out
It's sad to see this. I don't think the people living here did this. When a house is abandoned losers take the opportunity to drop in. They take whatever they want
Those aren’t tornado sirens, they’re fire sirens. That’s why after one went off you heard fire trucks. It’s also not in Albany, it’s in Colonie or Guilderland. The whole area is a Karner Blue butterfly sanctuary that was never supposed to be developed but Pyramid Corporation has developed all of it minus about twenty acres. This after the existing buildings were harassed for having community centers. Someone is getting a payoff for certain.
I remember this as I under stood it some of these houses People were offered far more then the homes were worth and they had plenty to start over and then some they just walked left everything behind , there were a few hold outs of Older residence and they decided to wait them out hoping once the people died the home would get sold by the families or they would go up for back taxes since the whole thing had already takes far longer then they hoped .
now its doubtful any thing will ever be built there because environmental studies say that it would hurt the population of the Blue Butterfly which is endangered, some of these homes have been abandoned Since the mid 90s the hay day of Excess the Economy was was smoking so to speak the biggest issue with the Costco Project and the Expansion of the mall the Pine bush and the larner Blue Butterfly people were already upstate over Crossgate and the strip mall being built as it was .
some of the dangers of entering these older home there is not just molds in the air but these house still had asbestos Tiles that are broken and walking on them can be a health risk also they were Still using lead paint so the finer crumbling paint is in the air and the dust you inhale is peppered with lead , Radon Gases were a huge issue to in homes with basements . Most older homes and new one all have vents and filters to filter this radioactive gas today ..
these houses with so much in them I think excepted the offers and got paid after a while but they held out remained in the houses but not paying taxes and such and in the ended many didn't have time to pack and move they were must locked out not allowed back the Taxes were paid so the company didn't lose the land . in 2023 after endless years of legal battles they finally won the right to start costco , they had one hurdle left before building a still trying to receive nearly four hundred thousand dollars in exemptions on sales and compensating use taxes. untill this is Complete all progress again came to a stop . this battle now has been on going for more then 30 years ..
There's one by where I live and it turn into an ANF Gyros & Grill on West Colonial Drive when they built the new one literally 5 minutes from the old one. They also did the same to an old Burger King on Silver Star Road.
I rode my bike through there before.I wondered what happened. Now I know.Corporations forcing people to sell their homes like cracked out scooby doo villains.Smh.f'd up.

Yo im literally the one who put that couch in the basement lol 😂 thats so cool to see in someone else's video
Did you put the couch in for someone or did you own/rent the place. Either way pretty cool to see that some form of you was in this vid
Ok
@@Scoobis925 na the couch was blocking the door in when I was exploring so we had to move it and it ended up downstairs
But why did you do that
@@HaikalHassan-s2yasking stupid questions he moved it dumba**
Filmed a couple days ago
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
In the beginning you said that the developers name was Pyramid. Then at around 36, 37 minutes in as you were looking at some framed items you said that one of the individuals that once lived in one of the homes worked for a company named Pyramid...🧐🤔🔼
Yea wonder is it same co..
Yes, he held up a certificate that said Phyllis Wells and I did see the pyramid group on that
Good for those people that held on to their homes!!!! Keep fighting!!!
Seniors are usually the hold outs and they eventually die with all their stuff left behind.
Why was it a potential micron site???
@@jdjd962 I don't know what you mean by that

There's probably several thieves dumping stuff there. That's not just stuff that belonged to the prior residents.

@@adamhilmer5922 yeah I noticed that too. I wasn’t sure if he noticed or not so I just commented.
Not a tornado alarm, it’s a fire house alarm. Either for fire or rescue/ambulance.
I remember those from when I used to live in New Jersey. When I moved back to Indiana, there are no sirens. The alarm in New Jersey didn't sound like that one. I used to call it the moose because it sounded like a moose to me.
It is in fact a volunteer fire alarm
stringer media thanks forsharing with me this video it was a reall cool video i really enjoyed it and God Bless.
I've watched the show, too most people it doesn't make sense to store useless junk, but a hoarder...it dies, a traumatic thing happened in their life where hoarding is a relief,a feel good a euphoria of necessary 😢 that's why they need professional help and organization. Comfort in a healthy environment
More people need to learn about squatters rights and taking these homes back from corporations who let them sit and rot
That's why those notices from April 2024 were there: Squatters. Once they are told that they are tresspassing their squatters rights are revoked. They need a certain length of time without being notified for adverse possession to take effect.
Have to have water and sewer. It is considered condemned without an approved toilet.
That was a fire siren. Most fire departments in the area are volunteer. That's how they call anyone available to the fire station.
Be careful don’t mess with the bee 🐝 it’s not fun to get stung by it I support you
Explore videos?!!!
I never knew these type of videos existed!
I used to tape in pre 2005 but I'm too scared to tape now.
At least I got you ( and other) to get my exploration fix from 🎉
So 36:46, rewind a bit and pause.
All estate was donated to a local college
After the pyramid company bought most of the homes on those streets in the 1990s, a lot of their employees stayed/lived in those houses.
Every time that loud alarm went off all I could think of was Silent Hill lol
For real lol how amazing for their video tho
That stuff gets left behind bc ppl refuse to leave their home until the police show up and say youve been evicted and have 24 hours leave the property. Its sad bc it usually means these ppl had no where else to go!
I’m surprised there aren’t squatters in some of them homes. I’m in WNY we have squatters in abandoned homes.
I'm gonna take a swingin wild ass guess and say those memos/notices on the doors are to get squatters out.. There's no way the grass grows that quick.. lol
The one house with the "front" door that was open, but the next door was locked, what you thought was the "front" door was just an enclosed front porch.
I don't want it to be true but that house with the busted front door you pushed in looks like my buddy Tony lived there with his family 😢
Did u lose fuckin touch with him or wut mate? 🧐🧐
If you look closey, Tony still lives there 😢@ToboeKey309
I don’t mean to be that guy but I would ware some type of mask. I would hate to see you guys get sick from inhaling all that mold.
And gloves
Please wear particulate masks. That first house is literally crawling with black mold.
That alarm...You guys almost got stuck in Silent Hill
That siren is the volunteer fire department calling the volunteers to an emergency
She was a librarian 37:50 On this house she died at 82 in 2013
Tornados actually occur in all 50 states. When properties are bought up like this, they are paid so much, that they just leave it all behind and start fresh.
Tornadoes do NOT occur in upstate New York lol

I’m from there that the fire house depends on the time or if there is a call
What a shame. Some nice looking properties.
That’s a fire house alarm when they get calls I run with two fire stations! It’s not tornado alarm
The desolate houses are surreal. Always after they are abandoned.

You’re near Crossgates mall which is near a fire department, the sirens are from the departments. It’s sad that they made so many leave their homes and the mall has turned out to be a crap hole! It’s not a great mall at all.
Big corporations should be forced to pay double or triple the fair market value plus all costs of the moving & expenses
It's not odd that people leave all their stuff, people get paid 5 × what their property is worth from COSTCO and just leave everything because they can buy more.
The photos are what get me on these type of videos. Why would anyone leave photos of their kids/relatives/friends behind if they really did sell the property?

I'm curious how you know that.
Some small towns sound a “whistle” at 12pm and 6pm. The 6 o’clock whistle let kids know it was time to head home for dinner.
Man I hope that violin wasn’t a Stradivarius 😂😂😂
The people blocked the Costco build, the courts just cleared it, all these years later.
You're great! When you made the statement " That's a faze" I lost it. Funny as hell. It's like the one family just disappeared off the earth
So Pyramid is corporation that owns malls, so honestly to be living right outside of the mall, it is actually pretty common to be an employee of said company
Paint peeling, probably didn't prime the surfaces 1st
They arent hoarders. Parents have a lifetime of life, along come the children...creates a home. Now i do not believe they left everything like this. Looters
Whoa! Have delivered to the BJ'S in that mall dozens of times when I lived out in Massachusetts for almost 10 years! Did refrigerated freight to them from Rocky Hill, Ct. 😊
The alarm whistle is the firehouse calling firemen to the station, not tornado.
Wow thanks for the video sad all the stuff left behind an them houses rotting away . What happen there
Lol welcome to curupt ny
Compared to how sad this is, just an FYI, it's pronounced "All-benny" (I grew up in Albany). Alarm 's are blown at 12 noon in most cities and towns. But yes there are plenty of tornados in NY. Had one last night! People rip out walls for copper pipes to sell. Hoarder was probably foreclosed for non payment and they were evicted. So sad for the kids. People getting evicted will trash everything because they had no means to actually move it all.
The tobacco-probably squatters.
Looks like the whole neighborhood was forced out with no time... I wonder if the area is toxic? Weird to even leave cars.
Young people can’t pronounce names because they don’t talk in real life to people about anything of any importance.

You know this is not a local group - you can tell because they pronounced Albany wrong.
I think the recent notices from pyramid might possibly be towards squatters not residents who stayed.
I’ve been to cross gates like every weekend when I was in upstate ny. Cool to see where I been on a video fr
I bet you can find some antiques maybe good or old coins in the attics or basements.
That horn, that neighborhood, I thought it was a Silent Hill moment.
these houses with so much in them I think excepted the offers and got paid after a while but they held out remained in the houses but not paying taxes and such and in the ended many didn't have time to pack and move they were must locked out not allowed back the Taxes were paid so the company didn't lose the land . in 2023 after endless years of legal battles they finally won the right to start costco , they had one hurdle left before building a still trying to receive nearly four hundred thousand dollars in exemptions on sales and compensating use taxes. untill this is Complete all progress again came to a stop . this battle now has been on going for more then 30 years ..
There's one by where I live and it turn into an ANF Gyros & Grill on West Colonial Drive when they built the new one literally 5 minutes from the old one. They also did the same to an old Burger King on Silver Star Road.
