If that's where I think it is, the off brands are because that was closed after the town was mostly dead. The manager bought what he could with what little money was still coming in, but that pharmacy was in a death spiral long before it was abandoned.

Watching videos like this always make me sad. I grew up in a small town. Going back I see places where I have fond childhood memories completely abandoned and run down. A hollow shell of what it was back when it was thriving. It's heartbreaking to think of the lives and memories destroyed by neglect and time. The disregard of so much hard work, dedication and wonderful childhood magic..... left to waste.

The worst part is that these abandoned places are mostly the result of deliberately bad politics. Sick evil corrupt people working towards a common evil. Devil worshippers run the world make no mistake about it but Jesus will return soon but things will grow darker and darker first sadly till He does. It is sad but unfortunately it is written and must come to pass. Stay close to God. God bless all who read this. 🙏❤️☺️

I'm assuming this is Gary, Indiana. Lots of the city are totally abandoned now and it has among the highest crime rates in the country. So it's not a Ghost Town in the Pripyat sense of the term but more in the Ordos City sense of the term - where people still live there but nowhere near as many as are technically supposed to considering the infrastructure meaning entire neighborhoods are abandoned.

3.84 a pack for Marlboro. The best I can research is around 1993 1995 era. That could tell the time of when this store shut down. Could be because that was around the time that "slick Willie" president of the USA signed the "Free Trade Agreement" (December 8th, 1993, enacted January 1, 1994) into act for trade around the world. Him doing this was the first domino to tip in American culture and society, our businesses, manufacturing, employment, small businesses started to crumble. Thanks Willie. You really done a severe disservice to America by putting that free trade in order. The only ones that benefited from that were of course the politicians and other countries (China, Tiwan, etc.)

If it's a town that was abandoned due to a toxic plume or some other contamination, who knows - the stuff could be contaminated too. Like Three Mile Island at least in the immediate aftermath, those homes within a certain radius that were initially evacuated, had above acceptable radiation detected so I doubt it would be worth the risk to try to salvage every single thing. Even homeless people wouldn't want to be exposed to poison.

@miajoyce9205 Everyone was looking to save money and Walmart worked the Capitol morons to create legislation to allow them to buy from China. We have regulations in the USA to prevent manufacturers from using illegal and deadly materials in our food clothing and toys while China doesn't. Almost forgot NAFTA sent almost all our industry overseas or South of the border. Mom and Pops were treated unfairly by our own government and our Representatives that we sent to represent Mom and Pop stores and all of us. The government created an unfair market for Jeff Bezos and the Walmart family. They even closed Kmart with their unfair trade laws that made us poorer while making them wealthy. Sorry to go on like that but it just burns me up knowing this old fella was duped by my government into believing NAFTA was good for the country. We trusted the people with the education to make sound decisions for the country. Learn from our mistakes and don't let emotionally educated politicians make decisions that go against common sense. A man that has never had to find a job that provided decent medical insurance can't make decisions for people struggling to make a decent living.

About the 20%off Sale. IF a store was liquidating they would reduce to %50 to 75% off. Most Markup from whole sale is anywhere from 25% to 65% profit for Retail Items. The 20% off still allows for profit so it looks like they didn't even have time to try and liquidate their stock. It also looks like they tried to gather the most valuable items first. But I mean they could've at least tried to donate that stuff to the Salvation Army or something for a Tax write off, but there wasn't even time to do that. I wonder if you're able to find old newspaper articles about why the town was forcibly closed. thanks for sharing,

You'd mentioned might have had a sale. If I'm not mistaken there was a "sale" sandwich board towards the registers and sunglasses at the front of the store. So I definitely think you're right.
I also totally agree with you about taking stuff from places like this. Due to its overall general condition why would you want to? You'd probably grow a second head from that vintage, off brand hair dye if you tried to use it. Plus if you took stuff (and if everyone else took stuff when they explored) there would be very little left to make videos like this so amazing. I personally love a good time capsule. A+ for sure!
How did it smell in there, by the way? Looks like a lot of water damage in places.
Do you know if the second floor below (where the caved in floor was) was part of the pharmacy too? Or if it was another store? Or storage of some kind? Makes me wonder if there was a way down (aside from the obvious, haha).
As usual, thanks for the high quality video. How these don't have roughly a bajillion likes is so far beyond me, but I'm going to keep commenting on them until they do!

At common law, a person who finds abandoned property may claim it. To do so, the finder must take definite steps to show their claim. For example, a finder might claim an abandoned piece of furniture by taking it to their house, or putting a sign on it indicating their ownership.
According to U.S. law, property that is left behind by a tenant is typically assumed to be abandoned after a specific timeframe. This timeframe can be anywhere between one week and one year. If the property remains unclaimed during this timeframe, it may be disposed of, or sold.
