  • I have never had an individual lesson from Mike Adams, but I have seen a lot of his videos on the internet. I attempted to organize some of his ideas on this video. Mike Adams is a very smart and innovative golf instructor, and we would like to thank him for his longstanding contribution to the golf world. here is a webinar with terry rowles about sportsbox ai • Terry Rowles Webinar -...

    Amazing summary of the ideas Mike talks about and uses, I know this is not a complete picture but this is exactly what I've been trying to do watching all his swing catalyst material and terry rowles videos. I really hope he comes out with a book soon! Thanks for making this video! very helpful!

    I'm a big fan of Mike and Terry's work and theories. Being a side under golfer I find most "mainstream" instruction is counter to what works for me.

      mike does not believe in one golf swing method for all golfers... he personalizes the swing based on measurements and the golfers natural tendencies... thanks for your comment...

      if you are hitting it better than ever, be sure to take some down the line video and face view video of your swing that you can refer back to in the future so see what was working... 😇

    Thanks for the great video. Been following Mike and Terry ideas for a while, even bought their 'greatest lesson ever'. Your video is great to see all of the ideas in one place.
    I'm front post, side under and coaching was a waste of time as they basically all wanted to change one of those 2 things! Now I commit to using vertical as my main forces and my strong right hand grip, golf is more fun.

    I think Mike Adams is onto the best approach. Great video, this really covers a lot of ground - thanks! I wish there was a reference somewhere of the patterns that many different pros use. I think it would really useful to watch lessons with or from pros that use your own best pattern. Just watching random tips on YT is a great way for people to ruin their swing.

      I agree. For example, a front post golfer should not be trying to copy the movements of a rear post golfer....there is no single type of golf swing that fits all golfers...

    Great video. This saved me hours. I met Dr. Lynn last week and he said he doesn’t use that swing test anymore because of how difficult it is to hit off just the rear leg. That doesn’t necessarily invalidate the test, but I thought it would be worth passing on to you. Thanks for putting this together.

    • @stevenvig927
      @stevenvig927  Год назад

      thanks... i suspect dr lynn is now using swing catalyst to try to see if a golfer is rear leg post, center post, or front leg post... unfortunately, not all of us own a swing catalyst setup...

    Well done! I am not familiar too much with Mr Adams. I had seen his introduction to front, middle and rear posting. I thought it was brilliant to recognize that good golfers differ in their anatomy and functional biomechanics. Your video has introduced me to more of this needed thoughtful analysis of the swing. I will be looking into this further! Thank you!

    Right hand grip type and leg dominant is the determing factor for the swing type. Others are just fine tuning?

    • @stevenvig927
      @stevenvig927  8 месяцев назад +1

      A front post golfer will often have a narrower stance, and emphasize vertical forces…right foot square, left foot turned out more, and will begin to recenter earlier in the backswing…(as early as p2 ! )…. It would be helpful to know your forearm to humerus ratio and your height to wingspan ratio… recommendations also depend on your current ball flight and desired ball flight. Maybe an online lesson with mike adams or Terry Rowles would help. Good luck to jeffreycolvin9124

      @@stevenvig927 thanks! My elbow to knuckle is longer than elbow to shoulder. And wingspan is 1.5” longer than height.

    • @stevenvig927
      @stevenvig927  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@jeffreycolvin9124 since your wingspan is less than 4 inches compared to height, your backswing should be on the torso plane…if your forearm and humerus lengths were equal, you would have downswing on mid torso plane…however, because your forearm is longer than your humerus, your downswing should be higher than the mid torso plane…

      @stevenvig927  7 месяцев назад +1

      Good question. I did mention this briefly on the slide about aaron baddeley where mike adams said that " the left hand takes care of the lower body".... a stronger left hand grip helps aaron to increase his rotational and vertical forces.... i was a bit surprised to see this, but it is what Mike Adams said about the left hand.... here is a video from terry rowles on the grip where he says that the right hand grip is more important than the left hand grip in terms of how it influences the golf swing... ruclips.net/video/OLl--sBf9XU/видео.html

    Steven thank you very much for posting this video. I’m really fan of Louis Oosthuizen’s swing and wondering how would you define him? Is he a front post, center, or rear post?

    • @stevenvig927
      @stevenvig927  8 месяцев назад +1

      He does have a great swing,,,I don’t know for sure what type of post he has…we would need to see some of the posting tests I mentioned in this video.. I think that mike adams is now using swing catalyst to see which forces a player is using…a horizontal force matches up with rear post…a rotational force matches up with center post…a vertical force matches up with front post. A golfer often uses mainly one and maybe two forces …long drive champions often use all 3 forces!

  • @jackflash8756
    @jackflash8756 Год назад

    Not sure whether an open stance makes the left leg lock up later and a closed stance makes it lock up sooner. Seem more the other way around
    Also, couldn't left knee bend and the lifting of the left heel alter the timing of how quickly the 'locking up' happens?
    Don't understand the 'Openers and Closers' slide and how vertical forces can tend to open the clubface or how the height of the hands at address can affect the closing and opening of the clubface.
    Note: I was thinking about the locking of the left leg in the backswing but I think you are referring to the downswing.

    • @stevenvig927
      @stevenvig927  Год назад +1

      hello jack... there is youtube video called "Aaron Baddeleys coach Mike Adams on swing changes and more"... with Travis Fulton... if you go to the 18 minute mark, Mike Adams is talking about Dustin Johnson, and Mike says that when Butch Harmon opened up his stance, "the left leg locked up later"... Mike Adams says that the amount of left foot flare will affect when the left leg locks up... If you have the left foot more square, the left leg straightening and vertical forces will happen earlier and stronger... if you have the left foot flared out, the left leg straightening and vertical forces will happen later and weaker... left knee bend and lifting of the left heel might relate to which post you are... a front post golfer will tend to have a narrower stance, a square right foot, an early recentering, an outside in swing path, earlier left leg straightening , and more vertical forces with less horizontal forces.... a rear post golfer will tend to have a wider stance, a flared out right foot, later recentering, an inside out swing path, later left leg straightening, and more horizontal forces with less vertical forces....
      for your openers and closers question, think of justin thomas, who has a lot of vertical forces through impact , and tends to have an open face relative to his path and he likes to hit fades..... regarding height of the hands, you can take your address position with an iron and put one of those little magnets on the clubface which is perpendicular to the clubface.... you will see the magnet and the clubface point to the left if you move your hands lower at address.... conversely, you will see the magnet and the clubface point to the right if you move your hands higher at address....
      i hope that is helpful..... steven vig

      mike adams mentioned that golfers with a lot of rotational and vertical force in their swings need stronger grips, because more rotational force opens the clubface and more vertical force opens the clubface, so they need to have a stronger grip to close the clubface...

    Categorising golfers. More snake oil

    • @stevenvig927
      @stevenvig927  8 месяцев назад +1

      categorizing golfers is exactly what Mike Adams does... Mike does not believe that all golfers should swing the same... it is very clear that a rear post side under golfer swings different than a front post on top golfer... teaching the exact same golf swing to all golfers will only help a small percentage of them...

      Just to be clear... I do these videos for fun and with hope that they might be helpful or interesting to other people. I have never been paid a penny by youtube or by Mike Adams or by anyone related to this youtube channel. I am a 69 year old retired physician. When in Tucson, I was a volunteer for southern arizona junior golf for over 30 years, teaching junior golfers about the golf swing and about the rules of golf. Both of my daughters played high school golf, and my older daughter finished second at state when she played for Sal Pointe High School. I still love to hit balls at a nearby driving range, and I play from time to time at a nearby municipal golf course for fun.
