  • A hospital lawyer from New Orleans told a doctor that she was no longer allowed to perform D&E procedures on pregnant women with nonviable fetuses due to the state's abortion trigger laws. Dr. Valerie Willams shared her personal experience of being refused to administer a D&E on a 16-weeks pregnant woman, who already knew her fetus was not viable, due to Louisiana’s trigger laws going into effect, thus forcing the woman to go into labor and deliver the dead fetus, losing almost a liter of blood and being traumatized in the process. Cenk Uygur and Francesca Fiorentini discuss on The Young Turks. Watch LIVE weekdays 6-8 pm ET. ruclips.net/user/theyoungturkslive

"Here's the account from a New Orleans doctor, who was told by her hospital's lawyer she couldn't perform a D&E on a 16-weeks-pregnant woman whose water broke. Instead, she went through a "painful, hours-long labor to deliver a nonviable fetus, despite her wishes”"

Because many of them are not. Self respecting that is. The biggest example is Amy Coney Barret in the Supreme Court. She is happily part of a cult that treat women as property. She was forced to marry her husband, she had to be “allowed” to go to college and get a job. She can’t even go to church with anyone of the opposite sex (they have church for the men and prayer group for the women). She truly believes women aren’t equal to men and wants to make that the norm. While other republican women aren’t that fanatical, many do share that mindset.

Heartbreaking. I had a spontaneous miscarriage between the birth of my two babies. I was devastated and in a lot of pain. A DNC was the next procedure that I needed to prevent sepsis. Without it I could have lost my life and/or the ability to have another baby. I did what I had to do to preserve my life and have the opportunity to create my existing family. I mourned the life of the fetus I could not carry to term. But the life saving procedure after that loss made it possible for me to live and have a healthy pregnancy afterwards. I hate that make lawmakers get to decide when and where my rights exist. When they experience a monthly period or a pregnancy or miscarriage, I may give them a say…

The republicans put not only the life of women in danger but their entire family at stake. If you died the baby would also have died and your husband would be caring for your children alone. Having only one income in a household that probably had two employed would drop to one income. Bills and prior debts and responsibilities would go unpaid trying to live on one salary. A entire family would have suffered. Where is the " sanctity of life" these people talk about? For the huge majority of women abortion is a very painful decision to make. No one needs to make that worse for them Because a few mis use abortion the 98 percent of women are made to suffer with no real help out there except false promises of help from republicans. VOTE BLUE AND BRING BACK CHOICE IN ABORTION AND OTHER LOST FREEDOMS.

They spend SO much money on lawyers and lawsuits, treating gunshot wounds, and administration and insurance costs. And who makes the most money in US healthcare? Lawyers and insurance company executives. It boggles the mind that Americans still think that it’s the best country in the world…. I am SO glad that your wife got the care she needed. This Dr. Was a student at the time and was in a wheelchair..Because of the Drs disability she was unable to work on my wife during birth because the beds in the delivery are set higher than normal making it very difficult for the Dr to deliver the baby. This Dr scraped the head of my yet to be born daughter while inserting the fetal monitor in my wife. We know this for certain for 2 reasons 1) the baby literally jumped in my wife's stomach when monitor was being inserted.
    2) when my beautiful daughter was born her head wound was a fresh laceration and bleeding from wound which needed treatment!

If I had accidentally gotten pregnant after my 3rd child, it would have killed me under these rules. I am so very scared that maybe my daughter will get pregnant and have to die because of these stupid people. Heck, legislators in my state actually discussed forcing mandatory reimplantation of ectopic pregnancies. A thing that cannot actually be done. Doctors will leave maternal child medicine and gynecology in droves. Emergency medicine too. And then more people will die and more babies will die and pretty much more of everyone will die.
