sony a7ii can use powerbank?
Great, such a simple idea that is overlooked and over thought. I used to use a long cable and a bag attached to the tripod, not any more....
Thanks.
Perfect for time lapses! I always almost run out of juice when doing one.
Have you thought about the over-voltage you are putting across that camera with this supply?
Smallrig Cage and dummy battery were invented 3 years ago, these would have been a helpful for that kind of set up with the powerbank connect to the camera.
Is there some sort of clamp that could put a powerbank onto one of the tripod legs?
The time I would need to use the powerbank would be for long duration timelapse shooting, and I use the shoe mount for an Intervalometer (Onnoa)
If I could clip it to a tripod leg that’d be ideal.
Hello! Any idea if this will work on the new A7iii? I'll be shooting a 2 hour concert on a gimbal and this might be the power solution I've been looking for. Thanks!
yes, it will do the trick in any a7 series
As he said, it doesnt recharge, it just slows down the drain
Dexter Fernandes it recharges the battery every time you turn off the camera
Hi, I have Sony ZV-E10 but cat find any recommended power bank's that can be used with it .. :( Any thoughts ?? Thanks in advance
Did you have to leave the battery in for the camera to work with the power bank
Thanks for the explanation! I also have the a7r II with a 20000 milliamp power bank but I feel that the camera keeps draining its own battery instead of using my bank am I missing some settings or do I need a different USB cable or a voltage converter?
My a7RII with a dead battery will allow me to record for a few minutes with a powerbank and shuts off. Any reason @chungdha
@@OutdoorsmenLee Does not work with an empty battery it does not use only a powerbank its just lessen the speed of the drain and when turn off the camera it will recharge the battery inside the camera.
Nice solution for the small battery.. the new zhiyun crane 2 has screw holes on the top of the gimbal itself.. so it could take the weight from the camera itself. ;)
i will try that. thanks for your efforts and keep up the good content! ;)
Hello, you seem to be saying that you use the power bank to power the camera while it is shooting. Is that true? My understanding is that USB can be used only to charge the battery inside the camera, not power the camera as it is running. As soon as I turn on the camera, the yellow light next to the USB sockets on the camera goes away.
you cold use a dummy battery and charge that with the powerbank. That should work
Nice! My a7m3 will shoot whole day :)
is you can video when the camera is charging in powerbank?
@@sudeepadhananjaya6653 Yes! Camera battery power down very slowly when it plugin and rec
Very good video, one question I would ask is about the mechanical aspect, how secure is that mounting, can you move that camera without the power bank falling ?
very secure as powerbank is same size as a phone and the holder holds it well
@@chungdha Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question !
I bought a power bank that is 26800mAh with two outputs of; 5v 2.1A and 5v 1A. are either of these going to power my Sony A7SII and is it safe?
handy resolution for power needs
Will this work on a Sony hx400v camera
Hello!
Does any one know what the camera settings for the A7sii would need to be in order to make sure a gimbal charges the battery while connected? My set up only seems to charge it *sometimes*, and then other times my camera battery wants to die on me while still connected to the gimbal. I know there are the "USB settings" in the camera, but I've messed around with them and nothing seems to be consistent. Any tips would be helpful, thanks!
You can use a dummy sony type battery that is directly powered by a power bank. You can leave your connectors free.
why you dont power with pd port? is not support a7iii etc pd power.? thanks.
Sony rep just told me to use a 20,000 mAh power bank (any brand) with USB-C to the USB-C port so I can use my intervelometer in the multi-port of the a7Riii.
Thank you! was wondering about this...
Awesome!!! I’ll test this out
Does this also work with the oldest A7? I turn it on and it only dislapys charge mode. Can't go to shooting mode. And another question: didn't you have issues with difference in voltage between powerbank and camera?
I am sure you have figured this out but only starting with A7r ii and newer will the camera charge/power while turned on.
I have anker 20000 external battery and sony a7iii. I cant seem to charge my sony using a micro usb cable. Do I need a usb-c cable?
Is that way safe for long shooting mr chungda?
You the man , thankyou
Great video- have already ordered the parts to replicate this- thank you so much _ I shoot a Sony a7ii and battery life is poor at best
is it work for a7ii?
@@sudeepadhananjaya6653 yes 100% although I now have the Sonya7Riv
@@Lez325 can i take photos pluging to powerbank?
@@sudeepadhananjaya6653 yes I did it for long days shooting wildlife
@@sudeepadhananjaya6653 This does not work for a7ii because it cannot charge or use the power from USB while being powered on.
Hello, what aree the specs that are needed for the powerbank to power the sony alpha 6300? Voltage ect...Thanks
I'm waiting this info too, any idea what is the best?
will it work with a7ii?
nice question oh my broder
Is it microusb or usbC?
Hi, doesn't it happen to you that at one moment the camera stops charging and then the charger is activated again?
Thank you
Thanks fir sharing. Based on your video, I can just connect my powerbank which is normally rated at 5V output to the camera even though there is a differencein the . I am using 3 different types of camera, namely Nikon D7200, Canon M50 and Canon G7x Mark III.
I may use dummy battery together with the powerbank,
Appreciate your advice,. Thank you.
nice solution for small videomaker, thanks chungda :D
Can we shoot photos while charging it?
Can we use any powerbanks ? Like realme , i ball
New sony with USB C would suggest using PD powerbanks which works better.
You have a bit of time when the internal battery goes dead then the camera shuts down. I've been able to get 2 hours before it shuts down. At that point the internal batter is dead but the power ban is at 50%.
It happened to me as well. But I just want to make sure, does the power bank really charge the battery inside the camera?
The camera will work if I pull out the battery, and connect usb battery?
work on a7c??
hey, is this safe enough?
I own an Aukey Powerbank of 20.000mAh. I guess this Xiami is 0.49" thick and the Aukey is around 0.8". Do you believe I can still use the phone clamp or is not enough thickness?
Thank you so so so much!!!!
Witch seeting to do this activite
this doesnrt show how to m ake the camera actually see the power supply! the camera just thinks its a mass storage device and then tells the user to check the device.....
I am sorry but 10x capacity thing is not true. Yes one battery is 10k mah and other is 1k mah. However orijinal battery is 7.4 v and powerbank is 3.7v. the power is calculated by multiplying mah and V. So effectively 5 times more capacity :D. Thank you for the video by the way it helped me a lot :)
Does this help to solve overheating.
no it will not
chungdha thanks
Nice thank you
What about Sony a7ii??? Someone please advice
i have two external baterie and does not charge or stay on my camera, by the way is a sony a7s2, could you help me please? power bank are ADATA P20000D and ANKER 21000
Already addressed in the video cannot be used with batterygrip
Does this work with A7II??
Zayd Abbas did you get an answer man?
Update
Does it work with the a6300?
Hi, did you find the answer?
Yes
how about sony a6000 ?
a6000 too old and they only recharge when the camera is turned off and not while it is on.
how about a7s mark 1?
the a7s mark i cannot be powered by usb cable, not enough voltage. you need to get the dummy battery cable and attach to a battery pack that has a dc output. ravpower makes a good battery pack that has 30000 mah with multi-voltage output settings. I can shoot 14hours straight on the a7s and have 40% power remaining in the battery pack.
Would this also work with the a7m2?
I have also the same question if got a solution pls share with me bissy
Yes it’s the same battery
@@tombrady12NE a7II and a7III have different batteries
no it wont work for a7m2. camera wont work while charging
How about sony a7ii? Can i do that without problem?
AR14 did you find answers?
You cant ....
From a7sii up you could do it ..
Below it you should turn off to charge it ...
Dummy battery is option
cool!
I just don't understand why people still opts for mounting heavy pc of PowerBank on top of the camera when they can just use a Dummy Batter connector to do the job Perfectly and leave the Power unit in ones back Pocket or Jacket.........Why the big fuss over it .......??
Powerbank heavy? V-Mount or Sony NPF970 are much larger and heavier than most powerbanks, this one in the video still is thin, small and lightweight compared to Dummy options with other power units.
Hi, Please note I am using a Baseus 10000mAh Power Bank Dual USB LCD Slim Power bank similar to the Xiaomi unit used by you. I make use of a Dummy Adapter with a USB cable to the Power Bank and leave Power bank unit in my my back pocket or jacket while I am out for shooting.......is that simple and convenient......! I have total free movement of the camera in question without any interference in shooting......There are so many Power sources available in the market and no one will choose to use the Sony NPF970 for this purpose....!
Support a6400?
works on a6400 also
Sadly not for the A7ii
BRAISY ONE why not!?
Thats sad, I tried this but it will not charge when the camera is on.
@@tuttmamman3490 yes me too i cant charge when the camera is on.
I can't get my camera to say anything other than connecting to USB when i try charging it while having it on please help, i'm trying to use it while charging to slow down battery drain.
Change your usb settings in the camera
@@chungdha I tried that to no avail, however it turns out using a different usb cord worked? It was weird.
Connecting through a dummy battery would be much safer though.
Please explain why you think that it would be much safer.
No, the powerbank delivers a low voltage charge to the battery. It's super safe.
@@FLUKEMEDIA lower voltage doesn't mean it safer though
Use rig cage duuuuhhhh
It not safe for camera because this mi power bank 2.1A. sony original Charger is only 0.5A.
Its safe, higher amps only means it charges faster with also proper 2 amp cables, if using normal or original cable be also 0.5a.
how about a6000? is it okay to use it with power bank attached?
A6000 you can only recharge the battery but not while using the camera at the same time, which only recent models have gotten these functions.
Oh! Okay. So it's okay to charge the a6000 with power bank. Just want to make sure I'm doing it right. I don't use the a6000 while charging though, just charge and leave it with a power bank especially while travel in a bus, etc.
