    Touma’s Imagine Breaker nullifies abilities.
Saten’s Hands nullify Uiharu’s privacy to flip her skirt.
    They are not the same.

Fun facts for this episode. 🔥🔥🔥
    When Does This Take Place?
On July 16th, as the manga states. This indicates that this begins a few days prior to Index's launch.
Despite being mentioned frequently in the Index volumes, the System Scan appears on screen for the first time. This is a periodical assessment of the students' esper ability that defines their level. Misaka must do impact tests in a pool to slow down her railgun, or else she will destroy the measuring equipment.
Kongou Mitsoku is being introduced for the first time. Which she shouldn't be yet. This scene involving Kuroko and Kongou Mitsuko takes place during a System Scan, however it is taken from Index LN Volume 8, Prologue. This means that it actually takes place somewhere in September, during a yet-to-be-seen arc in Index II; this was later revisited in the manga in chapter 40, when the timeline of the Railgun manga finally matched up with Index Volume 8, and Kongou was properly introduced when she transferred to Tokiwadai.
The manga included a System Scan (which occurred on July 16th), although it was not presented in great depth and was immediately followed by the shower scene.
Mikoto slapped Kuroko out of the shower stall when she could only utter one line in the manga. Furthermore, it is more obvious that she did not wish to caress Mikoto for more than a minute, but rather to engage in some lighthearted conversation about her chest size.
For those who have forgotten, Tsuchimikado used the appearance of well-known celebrity Hitotsui Hajime in Angel Fall.
The introduction of Uiharu and Saten was a little botched up. In the manga, Kuroko and Mikoto stop at a crepe vendor on their way back to their dorm following the shower scene. When Uiharu is buying crepes here, she recognizes Kuroko, a coworker from Judgement, and walks over to say hello. This is Misaka and Uiharu's first meeting, although Misaka is already familiar with her name because Kuroko is constantly referring to _"her valued partner"_ Uiharu was also unwell and wearing a mask at the time.
On the other hand, Saten wasn't presented until Railgun chapter 4, which occurs on July 18, two days after this episode. In this chapter, Saten flips Uiharu's skirt, and following the scenario with the music player, Uiharu spots Misaka strolling along the street and approaches her to greet her. She then presents herself to Saten, who is not biased against higher Level espers and is really pleased by Misaka (I'm not sure why this was changed; I suppose it was for drama), while Uiharu is promoting Misaka. After that, Misaka follows the two of them as they head to a mall to buy dresses. (while Kuroko is stuck at her desk with work, she has a horrible sensation of being left out in some way).
The Family Restaurant And Crepe Buying were anime-original. Kuroko did not want to give Misaka an aphrodisiac. And Misaka and Saten did not wait in line for crepes and a Gekota.
Additionally, this indicates that Saten was not present during the bank heist. The kid becoming lost and the whole _"let's kidnap a kid thing"_ never happened. I suppose they simply wanted Saten to have something to do.
What actually happened was that the unfortunate guy was afraid of Kuroko and ran away, only to run into Misaka, who was still eating her crepe. As a result, she spilled it. This enraged her so much that she attacked the car while Kuroko attempted a faint but fruitless protest.
I prefer the manga version since it emphasizes Misaka's petty nature as well as her overzealous use of her abilities. She has certain personality issues.
In the manga, The Guy in the Car did not attempt to ram Misaka. He was afraid of a Level 4 Teleporter and attempted to flee in a car. Misaka even mocks him, saying he'll never escape Kuroko, until he runs into her crepe, of course.
In the manga, Kuroko mocks the pyrokinesist for exhibiting his gift in a super villain-like manner, claiming he should have kept it a secret and calling him an amateur. And then mocks him for his lack of effort in bettering himself, leading him to become a delinquent, which is more hilarious compared in the anime that she was kind.

I feel conflicted with the Railgun adaptation because I really like that in the manga Misaka Railgun'd that guy in the car because he made her drop her crepe, not because he kicked Saten (who wasn't even there), but I really like Saten too so I guess it balances out..

railgun is an anime that has a special place in my heart, it came out at the end of highschool and i got introduced to this anime by a girl i was helping study for her admission exam, that girl ended up becoming my current wife. years before i was reading index LN as well but i had to stop because the first fan translators were very irregular with updates so the series went in the back of my head for quite some time. personally railgun S is my favorite for of how they treat various themes and how jc staff refined the designs, ost and overall quality. in my 20 years of watching anime this serie is one of the few that resonated with me, together with gundam, K project, robotiics;notes and k-on

I think there's like half of the students here who are lv0. This wasn't really shown in Index since Touma was just forced to fight a bunch of crazy forces.
Iirc the average joe in the background here are all Lv0, just living a normal student life as they failed to even develop an ability after being drugged.
Touma is really the outlier here as he is detected as "totally no esper power" while other lv0 are detected with esper power but simply not strong enough to be classified as lv1.

A curious point is that most Railgun fans who think it's better than Index haven't touched the Railgun manga. They don't know that the beginning of the manga consisted of Misaka chasing Touma and that Saten doesn't have a character introduction scene like in the anime. They also don't know that half of the arcs in the first Railgun are fillers along with the Febril arc in the second season. And they are unaware of the existence of the SS novels, extra volumes of Railgun. In one of the volumes, Misaka meets Lessar; in another, Misaka and her friends meet a girl who uses Aztec magic. The Railgun T anime even made a reference to it but I believe only novel readers picked it up. The Index manga recently made a reference to this SS event from Railgun.

man i hate how hard index adaptation gets shafted because the studio prioritixed all the resources to railgun... and even then, railgun has filler that are half the season which ruin the pacing. railgun manga is so much better than the anime

@@bestlaurielnasevers4425I wouldn't say everyone will watch it. If they recommended the Toaru Series to me saying it was better to start with Railgun. I would have already walked away from the franchise in the 6th episode because everything I would have seen so far was slice of life full of fanservice with minors and yuri bait. If I started with Index, even with its annoying fanservice, I would still have an ongoing plot to follow. And touma losing his memory in episode 6 is worth all 6 slice of life episodes of Railgun.
