Mitch "Smashin' Frog" Aguiar is one tough dude. He's a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Navy SEALs, he's a professional MMA Fighter, and he's even an entrepreneur, having built two businesses out of his 'Smashin' Greens' superfood and Violent Hippie Apparel. He's also a returning guest to the podcast - longtime fans may recall his appearance way back on Episode #008 of the show when he appeared alongside Kyle Maynard.
Since then, Mitch has been hard at work building his businesses while knocking lights out both in and out of the octagon and traveling the world, constantly chasing new challenges like hiking from Sparta to Thermopylae on a fast and building Adopt a Cop Jiu Jitsu training for officers all over the country. What keeps this Smashin' Frog smashing? Let's ask Mitch.

Love the story about how he at first considered the others not worthy of the challenge. Then he was humbled as he found himself unprepared and was helped by the very people he had earlier insulted. Great story. I need one of those STAY HUMBLE shirts.

What badass dudes must have been the Greeks..
No Nike shoes , no roads, walking through the mountains wearing sandals , no socks , no food ...
I presume they had to hunt and search for fresh water , no pain killers , no hotels , nothing...
All these in full armor, and all these (and more I can't even think off) knowing they have taken the no return road.

Love this podcast, but ya'll really need to read your history. The ancient greeks had pankration, which was basically bare knuckle MMA, and was the main event at the original olympics. There's a ton of ancient artwork showing people doing heelhooks, armbars, strangles, etc. Everything that we train in BJJ today (No Gi), was being practiced thousands of years ago(the only exception would be the triangle choke which wasn't known to be invented until the 20th century).

Totally with you on COVID I was shocked and very disappointed at how many people just went along with the stupid "rules" that made no sense. Calling out the BS got me on a number of S-lists. Sorry to hear about your business, listening to this podcast I know you will be back stronger than ever.

Umm you do realize that you’re getting small doses of radiation every single from the sun. It’s sounds like your more scared of the word radiation than learning exactly what it is. I work at a nuclear power plant, if I get 1 single X-ray at a Doctors office, that X-ray is a higher rad dose than Me working an entire year at the nuclear power plant. Point is that it’s not *what* you are getting radiation from , it’s *how much* / how big of a dose

Regarding the 'no jiu jitsu' in Spartan times, they did have wrestling, pankration (and pammachon, the combat version of pankration). Granted, today's game is far more refined and in a pure grappling ruleset I'd give it to modern athletes but it would probably be a lot more close stylistically than people may think.

One issue with this conversation, 75 hard isn’t a “challenge” it’s a one small step of year long program. So no it should not be “tailored” to a specific individual. If you can’t follow the standards of a program then what standards do you upheld?
(No disrespect to Mr. Ritland and his guest this is one of my top 3 favorite pods)

Regarding people not being able to think for themselves and being told what to do, how to do it and when to do it, I have owned companies for 32+ years and I remember back when I was looking for my first employees, the single hardest trait to find was a self-starter, self-motivated individual that I could train, then turn loose. Sure, almost EVERY individual that you talk to will claim that they are both, however for the job position that I was hiring for, they had to walk the talk, not just talk it, as they would get exposed very quickly, and very very few could.
I was hiring supposedly the "best of the best," that top-2%+, and based on their resumes and past track records, they were, however they were successful in highly monitored environments. Like Mitch, I was stunned with some of the questions that they asked.
The bottom line was that I was looking for sheep dogs, though the majority of the world was/is comprised of sheep🐑🐑.
Today's youth are even worse, and I'm talking from the Top-10 Biz Grad Schools, lol.
    Continued Success🍻

Agreed. God put all that stuff into the food we eat for a reason. It's really something the way people think they're "improving the formula" so to speak. Even the plains Indians foraged for edible plants and stuff. They didn't just eat meat and nothing else.
