Sweet! Still in Gold 4, but ur cammy series helped me break bad habits (and a bad losing streak) more than any other tutorials I’ve come across. Less jumping, more anti-airs! Love all ur vids man
@@Chris_F If I had to pick one, I'd like to improve my mixups more, and deal w/ fast mixupy characters like Juri! On defense, blocking on wakeup helps a ton, but on offense, putting all my options together and drawing from them on the fly is a weakness of mine
Nice info. Yep, I've seen top players walk back & forth & low block a lot, but the key is knowing when to press a button, & which one. And having the reactions to punish the opponent. Thanks for the vid.
Good stuff to keep in mind, I was aware of buffering in terms of hit confirms but didn't think about it in terms of being spaced out to hit IF the opponent decides to do an attack
Hey, I am glad that I caught your stream last night! I can't watch this video right now, but I can't wait to watch it later! If I may, I have a possible suggestion or idea for a future video. During your stream last night, there was a moment where you took time out to explain the adaptation and adjustment that you made to an opponent during a set. Would you ever consider possibly breaking down a few matches, whether be your own or of someone else's, and pointing when adaptations were made during a set? By the way, if you're going to Evo this weekend, good luck! I hope that you do well!
To give a specific reference, I think that there was a moment during your stream last night where your Guile played a set against a Ryu, and afterwards, you went over the adaptations and adjustments that you made during the set, and why you did them.
I'd love a video explaining how footsies in sf6 differ from other games, especially with the drive system. I kmow some pros say footsies is a choice in this game and im not sure if that's salt talking or true. Either way, analyzing footsies in a sf6 context would be interesting!
Hey Chris, appreciate the video and wanted to bring up a question/clarification. When going for whiff punishes, we are most commonly looking to react to ANY animation from the opponent as opposed to identifying the specific attack, correct? The idea being we're taking the bet that we know what poke they are going for? I feel like this is often an unclarified type of reaction that is unspoken when we talk about "reacting" to some things, and it may confuse or discourage new players trying to react only once they visually confirm what was thrown out. Or im just bad and ya'll are just nuts reacting to shit lol
It really depends. Reacting to something slow like a whiffed sweep is definitely possible on reaction. Other moves, like a MP or cr MK is usually done more on reaction to general movement - this is why some opponents whiff lights outside of throw range because it can throw off your reaction!
Very good video ! However, unless you did it previously, don't you think you should also teach the preemptive strike ? Because footsies works a little bit like a rock paper scissor. And I feel not talking about preemptive strike is like missing a piece of the trilemma. But very great video ^^
Good point! I think I covered this in a video over a year ago but maybe it’s time to re-visit this as I’ve gotten better at explaining these concepts since I started RUclips
All you do is push an attack button then tap the parry button (mp+mk). If it whiffs, your drive rush doesn’t come out, but if it hits, you’ll get a drive rush. One important note since you said you’re a beginner, you can only buffer a drive rush with medium or heavy attacks. A drive rush will ALWAYS come out even on whiff if you use light attacks.
@@Chris_F you should enjoy that xddd i used to say to my brother that i swear i wont get into keyboard stuff, but instead i got into arcade controller making and now im down in the rabbit hole
One of the best footsie break downs I’ve seen thanks for this great video.
Wow, thanks!
strongly agree with this 💯
I support this!
Objectively. Chris F is the channel you want to marathon if you really want to become a pro player 💯
Thank you!
You make the best videos. Concise, digestible, and informative. Thanks for all your help!
I always try my best, so thank you for this!
This is the best video on this topic I've ever seen. Up there with footsies handbook for understanding midrange neutral options.
Wow! Thank you!
Great video again man, I love these videos about core fundamentals!
You teach them in a way that is super digestible
Thanks bro, I try my best to explain as best I can without using up too much time
Thanks Chris, your videos are great! The picture layout is also great with the subtitles and summary on the right side
Glad you like them! I started adding those recently and I’m so glad I did
I watched this in the morning and got to Master rank in the evening. Thank-you so much. Best information I've found. ❤
Congrats bro that’s awesome! Feels great to know that I could help

@slivingston100 thx for taking the time to type this out!
A big thing that'll probably help you out is knowing frame data. When you can and can't attack/ when it is or isn't your turn
@@Chris_F just made it to platinum w/ Ryu (my 1st character to do so)! I owe a lot of that to your amazing videos -- just joined, keep it up!!
Chris knows the holes in my game lol, wonderful content, and editing is slick and easy to read

This is a fantastic resource. Thank you so much for putting this out.

Thank you so much , i was struggling taking my turn now i need to practice

This is great, would love to see a part 2 with drive impact, drive parry and jump forward options/counters discussed.
Been looking for something like this! Thank you!!

Would love to see your approach on incorporating jumps and neutral skips if you ever expand on this

He does play set reviews all the time. Subscribe and wait for his community posts, you can leave your ign there so he can review it.

At the very least I’ll do it again next stream and see if I can edit it nicely.

At 4:36 you said to buffer a drive rush. How do you buffer a drive rush? Beginner here.

Big fan here 😊 cool video bro
Thank you so much😎
tHANK YOU BOSS
No thank you!
BTW guys don't automatically poke back against characters like Marisa or Akuma, who have lots of natural spacing traps.
Def go into training mode and see where you can push against those traps - delayed attacks are going to be helpful here

comment from the algorithm so that more neutral skipping apes start getting better instead of dooming. please RUclips, recommend neutral videos
Thank you!
Pick guile or JP and you never have to worry about this /j
I know you’re joking but as a guile main I gotta say this is not true; his sweep is 9F so there are a lot of chances to whiff punish!
