I’m a Milwaukee guy. Got all their screw guns, drill drivers, hammer drills, impact drivers, etc. I picked up the DCF682 about 4 years ago on a whim because I thought the technology was interesting. It was the first DEWALT, I bought in over 25 years. I haven’t been able to put the thing down. In a pinch, I’ve even installed 3” screws into door frames with it. It’s got some torque. Love using it for door hardware and electrical work, especially when I’m on top of a ladder. Slips easily into my tool pouch. And like you said, the battery lasts forever. I only have one battery but it hasn’t really been an issue for me since I only use it for smaller projects. My local Lowe’s still carries them in store. After watching your video, I might go and pickup another one just for kicks. Oh, and I’ve never felt the need for a clutch or twist grip. I’m sure that model weighs more and that would put me off.

I have 4 of those, make sure to get the original DCF680 with pistol grip and clutch. Got my first one probably 10 years ago and use it just about everyday. It's perfect for disassembling electronics and computers. Battery lasts forever, super torquing. As you can tell, i love this tool. Get the DeWalt 3 piece countersink bits to go with your DCF680, perfect to predrill holes.

Had one of these for a couple years now and it's by far, my most used, handiest screwdriver around the house. Seems to find a way to the front and center of every project I do. Amazes me how much torque this little thing can put out too!

I now have 3 of these little wonders. Put the drill bit in one, the screw driver in another (no need to switch out as you go) and the third is in the tool drawer in the kitchen. The torque is terrific and usually doesn’t require pre drilling.
Love them so much I bought one for each of my daughters and they are just as great a fan.

I have the newer Black and Decker power screwdriver. Does not have a gyro (twist ring), replaceable battery or swap to Pistol grip. It is at full retail at about 25 dollars (purchased mine at Menards, on sale for 20). It has lots of power if used as a screwdriver, locking Chuck, LED lights and very good battery life. For the cost, it may well fit more budgets and provide great service.
It also has a non contact voltage tester built in. Great for a heads up.
    I love mine.

I have one and love it, it’s amazing for low torque applications. Their version of this that will convert to a pistol grip has gotten me into some tight spots I could never get to with another driver. The one handed operation has been a god send for installing stuff overhead and while holding awkward items. The downside is after this being out for many years, it is still the only Dewalt 8v tool, I’m not sure if this line will be around for much longer.

My man-crush (and I do know what that means) is a 12V Bosch drill-driver I bought four years ago just after buying the house. It came in its own case with four bits, a charger, and two very long-lasting batteries. It has a driver setting plus 20 torque settings, doesn't weigh much, fits my hand very nicely, and is highly controllable with respect to speed. I've used it to drive drywall screws and put together knocked-down furniture, all without issues. You will have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.

I too, as someone else mentioned, have the Craftsman version of this tool.
It seems to be much smaller physically, and doesn't have the removable battery, and you can't rotate the handle into a pistol grip. But the Craftsman version is literally the size of a regular sized screw driver and has the same gyroscope action to operate it.
I bought mine about 4 years ago now at Lowe's and I'm pretty sure it's made by Stanley/Black & Decker, who also makes DeWalt tools interestingly enough.
I love my Craftsman model, being an electrician, because it's great for assembling fixtures and light trim out work.
But as others have also mentioned, it seems to be unavailable or discontinued which is a shame because it's an awesome tool.
I think you'd find that, based on the size and weight compared to the DeWalt, you'd like and appreciate the Craftsman model even more than the DeWalt model that you featured in this video. So try to get your hands on one if you can find it anywhere.

I just got that one in a kit with 3 batteries for $180 because my old M12 impact driver was so loud that I found myself using my drill for both drilling and driving. I probably could've gotten away with this Dewalt, but oh well; I definitely appreciate the quietness of the surge impact driver and it's supposedly half a pound lighter than the dewalt.

So glad you actually did the Gyro driver some justice here. I love and use mine daily at my full time job. I also have a video on these and I use one on my channel almost every video. It is hard to explain how well it works and how it just becomes a part of you once you learn how to use it. One funny thing is I use mine at work and when you hand it to someone to use the reactions are hilarious and it's hard to explain how to use it to them and while some absolutely fall in love with it and have to get their own. Some try to make it work 10 secs or so and hand it back to you with a go away with that motion. 😂

I purchased this several years ago and have always felt that it would be a much better tool if it had a variable speed trigger. When working in a confined area or having to reach around something I find it awkward and uncomfortable to have to twist my wrist just to spin the bit. I would rather just feather the trigger and hold my arm in a good position. I rarely use it. That said, I would have never purchased in the first place had it not been for the gyro. It just seemed so cool and fascinating that I just had to have it. My favorite is my m12 Installation Drill/driver. It’s just so capable of doing so many things. It’s also very quiet for working inside clients homes. If I need more grunt it’s the amazing m12 Surge.

I bought one! Cheers from Germany, had to order that from the US! DeWalt is INSANE, not selling these over here... I swear to god they would sell these by the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS here in Germany...
Slight addition: The other one version isn't "newer", that's just the version for electricians, it has the added de-burrer on the front and is missing the pistol grip convertible option... But it's not better or worse or older or newer, just for a different application... There is a third one also, not quite sure about that.

Battery size has nothing to do with charging time.
The power a given battery chemistry can handle is proportional to it's capacity.
A "1AH" battery can take 1A of current and charge in 1 hour.
A "4AH" can take 4A of current and charge in 1 hour.
Batteries of a given type can charge faster, but longevity usually suffers.
Most current tools use lithium ion.
Dewalt's "new" "Powerstack" uses lithium ion polymer (li-po) which have been in the RC industry for over a decade.

@4:14 I would disagree with the battery being "old tech". The battery is rated for 1 amp-hour and the charger puts out 1 amp. Therefore, the battery is charged at 1C (which takes 1 hour). This is the recommended maximum rate that at which a lithium ion battery should be charged (the lower the better for battery health - for example 0.3C or less). Avoid any charger which advertises a sub 1-hour charge time if you're using lithium ion batteries.

From my own point of view, you need to invest smartly if you need the good things of life. so far i've made over $255k in raw profits from just 6 months into the market from my diversified portfolio strategy and i believe anyone can do it you have the right strategy, mutual funds takes long time but investing smartly is the key for short term. Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.

She is a popular broker you might have heard of. I can correctly say she's worth her salt as a financial advisor as her diversification skills are top notch, because i see that in her results as my portfolio grows by averages of 10 to 15% on a monthly basis, unlike i can say for my IRA which has just been trudging along, my portfolio just mirrors what she trades and not just on some particular industries of my choosing.

From my own experience owning an ES120 (an earlier version of the ES15) though, I doubt either of these would be better for you than the DCF680. The newer ES15 model is supposed to be much better, but at least for the ES120 the breakpoint in size between it and the DCF680 is pretty dismal; anything the size of a phone or watch the ES120 is better, but even for laptops the DCF680 is already better. (Though, that's more a testament to just how much control the DCF680 gives you even on relatively tiny screws, than an indictment of the ES120.)
As far as I'm aware nobody else makes a gyroscopic screwdriver in the same size category as the DFC680, only in the smaller 'precision driver' category.
