Hey J have been watching the vids. You have taken on a mammoth task there mate but you look like you are doing a very thorough job. As you said there are few channels in Australia that are doing the same. Have seen several that have done damaged yachts of similar ilk. Keep at it mate.

Those Cruise craft hulls are the old Vickers Easyrider moulds. The boat will be perfect for North QLD inshore conditions of short, sharp chop. Extremely nice riding hulls, just make sure to keep weight out of the nose.
They can carry huge loads on modest power. My old one had a tired 115 Merc and did just fine. I would think one of the modern 4 strokes of 100hp would be fine if propped right.

Hey mate, cheers for the info. Its been hard for me to judge the baseline as i was constantly carrying around the extra 80kg or so with water under the floor. Im hoping that utilising composite structural materials much lighter than waterlogged ply and the composite style flooring that it will be about the same weight as when I started, maybe a touch lighter. cheers for the heads up about nose weight, the plan is that as the helm will be slightly further aft than the original, that the cast deck and killbox will be compensated by that shift in helm/my weight. As for the comfort, thats one of the reasons I didnt bin the entire thing. very stable at rest and not too bad through the chop and can get me out to the reef on a good day.
      Thanks for the feedback

@@JmDory These boats were built heavy, I wouldn't pull your hair out trying to keep the weight under control.
My old 18 footer had 140l of fuel tanks from transom to around the helm area, barely even noticed when they were full.
They are extremely stable- I used to use my one as a work boat and have had TWO adult men standing on the gunwhale with plenty of reserve stability.
They will definitely get you to the reef on a good day, and back on a bad day.

Absolutely well done for a first video mate. Now with the new film ability, I would love to see more of the entire process. Would encourage a talk through on places/things that you felt were easier than thought, or hit a hurdle in the build.
Hopefully it all goes to plan.
I'm staying tuned for the next piece of this build. Great stuff 👍

It's absolutely gut-wrenching, hey. not just the disappointment in the cost/waste of money but missing out on heaps of time fishing.
if you are looking to go to the effort to rebuild yourself go look at these channels:
      exhale adventures
      adventures adrift
      angry mack
they really showed me that it's actually an achievable goal

Hahahaha, yeh mate, might as well be. But actually, I'm going to start switching back to ozito for the convenience of the in store replacement. especially with all this resin dust.

@JmDory if you get a chance checkout Expedition Evans. They bought a hurricane damaged yacht and had to do a incredible amount of hull work to get the sailing boat into the water. Keep it up mate.
