Hello everybody. I am very glad that I recorded the soundtrack of this performance when it was aired in 1967 on the Swedish Television. I could then never imagine what it would lead to. So please enjoy Miriam Makeba in one of her best performances. Greetings from Åke Holm in Sweden
wow thanks very much
Thank You for this privilege.
Thank you very much for helping to give this to the world and to people like me who weren't even born at the time of this performance. It's priceless and beautiful.
Wonderful, thank you!
Thank you
One of the most beautiful singer in the world.
A beautiful woman, a beautiful voice..... real Queen of Africa!
my favourite singer of all time since '70.1978 i saw her in Lesotho together with Hugh Masekela
Mariam is superb. He back-up band is excellent. I've been a gigging musician for over 50 yrs, and I know genius when I see/hear it. .... and she's such a dish - her movements and shape, .... wow.
My fav live from Miriam. Her band was lovely. How about that amazing Sivuca on the guitar and squeeze box.❤
Thank you very much, I was born in 1966,so music was this super original and Lady Makeba was this super
Original, beautiful,and the Voice wonderful.
Ake Holm people like you preserved African music and gave us some Historical material to snack 🎉 on. Lots of love from Mokonotela family in Soweto South Africa (Elites Swingsters jazz band).
Une voie unique que aucune africane n’a jamais pu franchir jusqu’aujourd’hui en 2024 qoui que l’on disait 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋🏿🙋🏿🙋♂️🙋♂️🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦♀️🤦♀️🙇🏿♂️🙇🏿♂️
Why do these songs make me cry this much every time i listen to them. I have tried over the years to control my emotions but never succeeded. Africas greatest performer that is who she was.
she was off this planet
Mirian Makeba... Is the best !!!
2023,I'm blown away. What a talent. Why isn't this womans voice heard and known more widely?
She was well known and loved in the 1960s, especially for her clicking song. My parents had her record, as well as other wonderful, activist singers like Odetta, Joan Baez, Theodore Bikel, etc. Also, check out the Weavers singing Shalom Chaverin. Also, Malvina Reynolds: the Money Crop, Just a Little Rain, and Ticky Tacky Boxes.
These voices get suppressed
Miriam Makeba, Mother Africa. What a talent! Beautifully performed with such charisma and professionalism.
She's been my absolute favourite right from my childhood days after I heard her Pata Pata album on Vinyl. Still listen to it and am now on quest to find her other recordings and concerts, especially the earlier ones. Regardless of what language she sings, she reaches your soul. Miriam Makeba the voice of Mother Africa Forever...................
She was so regal and her music was sacred.. Thank you for giving us such beautiful music.. Today we have the likes of Thandiswa Mazwai following your foot steps...
This woman is incredible, her voice, her strength and courage will live on through out the universe for ages. I am so grateful to experience this.
ON MAKEBA
Here music speaks to all hearts, irrespective of tongue, creed or race. Makeba was truly universal. She conveyed our deepest emotions in the language we all feel but can't so richly express.
She was special creature of God born for all of us ( I'm watching from Cap Haïtian Haïti).
A seductress! Listening to the clear clicks in Xhosa just makes my heart sing. You are missed Mama Africa.
Seductress indeed that Brazilian song is so sexy and beautiful 🥰🥰🎵🎤👑
Seductress indeed that Brazilian song is so sexy and beautiful 🥰🥰🎵🎤👑
And she was really beautiful. May her soul continue resting in peace
I must say, that her perfectly curated performance just stirs a plethora of profound emotions within me, so difficult to explain... She's definitely the representation of the mother goddess of creation! Africa, the mother of allll hue-manity, the rest falls short... We'll succeed, we'll conquer all this inhumane madness that has persisted for far too long! Ase Ase Ase O!
Ase
She lived later in Guinea where I was privileged to see her and enjoy her voice.

I missed a concert of Miriam Makeba in Kampala, Uganda. I like to listen to her.
I enjoyed her music during my childhood in my native country Venezuela, as you can see her music made an impact worldwide. She was the voice of her people who struggle for equality and freedom. Nelson Mandela called her the Mother of Africa, and she truly was such a symbol. Love her!

One of the best places was The Village Gate to hear Ms Makeba sing in her native tongues we went there many times sound was great also the Lincoln Center a plus Carnegie Hall those were the days of wine and roses her albums are still sounding like it was just yesterday that they were recorded. Sadly Ms Makeba passed away Nov 2008 at the age of 76 in Italy doing what she loved singing!!

Even in her passing I remain captivated to her Voice.
Awesome!
My favourite DVD from umama waseMagqwshwini. I so loved her!
she represented africa well, in language and identity, no fake hair, eyelashes, bleached skin deragatory attire just herself and her real self, even if it could have rained with winds, she wont change appearance like a chameleon when the wind removes the wig and the rain washes away makeup
Powerful comment indeed. Be blessed!!
Yes she was more beautiful 1966!!. But now she has already passed away!!!
