Don't stop watching when the closing credits begin - Harry's performance goes on!
Oct. 2012: Hi guys, now I've also uploaded the rest of the concert. :-) Hope you enjoy!! Видеоклипы
He is still live, 94 years young, veteran US navy on WW2.
His voice has unexplainable power touching our hearts.
I respect him. Wishing his long life.
I was just told he passed away on today April 25, 2023.
His age is 96.
Today I am so blue and will listen his song all day long in mourning.
Gotta be all those bananas
Wait ain't he jamaican?
@@fatherpucci6111 why don't you check him out on line?
He was born in New York as an American but his parents were not.
@@erickyee4198 well damn i don't know that. Thank you for the info kind stranger on the internet
Wow! My great grandfather found in ww2! That’s awesome!
I toured with him for three years late 50s :)
How was he?
Wow. You should share your stories on social media, write a book. ? We need insight to those days

HAPPY 92ND BIRTHDAY HAROLD "HARRY" BELAFONTE (MARCH 1, 2019)
I thought it was his 95th
Is he still alive
XxtriggazupxX he is 92 years old
@@Rabbidplayz don't say that. You are not God
@@Rabbidplayz please no, he deserves to live to 100
42 years later and he still loves performing the only song most of the audience knows him for. Most artists grow bored of their number-one hit within a few years.
That just shows how much Belafonte loves what he does and that he's a true entertainer, putting the audience first at all times.
I wish I could have half that dedication in anything I do in life!
That was beautiful❤️❤️❤️
Should you find the author of y (our ) life, and, wherein He, in truth, has been deposited, I can assure you, that dedication will follow. God bless.
That is the only song the YOUTH knows him for. He was one of the most succesful artists on his day, many hits.
How abt. the Jamaican farewell song.?
@@ksvats55 Loving to perform the song most of the audience knows him for does not exclude him from performing other songs that his dedicated fans know him for. It's not like I said he's a one-track artist, or that he only do one-song sets. Of course he performs more than one song.
I was merely noting the enthusiasm he has for this particular song, after so many decades, where most other artists grow bored of performing the same song every time they are on stage.
SO SAD HE PASSED...a great entertainer, wonderful screen presence and terrific soul ...Love you Harry!!!!!
His music is ever new to me and remain evergreen. May his soul rest in peace
He be 94 years old and he have a great life, he lieving fore ever in his music and my mind and yuors, :)

This reminds me of a story one of my former teachers told me, when Harry Belafonte was asked to speak at his high school graduation. Instead, Belafonte walked up to the podium, sang this song, and left.
Legendą.
He was preparing those kids for life lol

Harry, throughout his lifetime, has had positive impacts, on the movie and movie industries and, beyond, that, has played pivotal and instrumental roles in the Civil Rights Movement and, philathropically, Mr. Belafonte has given more, than, his fair share...Well done Harry!

Just finished watching Beetlejuice for the first time in years and just had to watch and listen to Harry Belafonte. What a performer he was. Wonderful. His songs are just so much fun and easy to listen to. Why did I never listen to him back in the day?
Never get bored of this song since childhood, born 62. Audience also loves it when I play as 1 man band. All generations.
Belafonte is simply incomparable, transcends stardom, is already in a pantheon. JC dont you dare, you took enough of the greats already.
Was a fantastic performer. Loved listening to him.
Hello Dottie, How are you doing?
I met harry in Las Vegas, when I was a kid. I new he special, God needed 1 more angel .
Not very often is a live version of any song better than a studio recording, but this is just superb! He's really on form and what a backing. It must have been a privilege to be there.
Fifty eight years ago as a college student, I listened to Man Piaba and Belafonte's other songs. I listen with nostalgia now as I listen to him again at Carnegie Hall 58 years later.
His voice was so powerful yet so graceful at the same time. What an amazing man he was ❤ may he truly rest in great paradise 🙏🏽
I’ve been singing this song for well over 24 hours 😂 such a classic
What a man and what a performer! The one and only Harry Belafonte.

Hello Elizabeth, How are you doing?
Dear Mr.Harry Belafonte 🤗💕....from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for filling my childhood happily with your songs, especially "Banana Boat" and "Island in The Sun" .... those are the songs that dear to my heart 🤗💕💖....God bless you, Sir 🤗💕💖
Such a beautiful man, none less beautiful soul. This is live music. This is what live music is suppose to sound like.
Rest in the greatest, most abiding peace, Sir. I will never forget the touch of your hand, or your voice whispered in my ear.
Never knew it was called the Banana Boat Song
My family more often called it as Day-O
and I remember this aired on PBS back in Mar 1997 as I'm starting the 12th grade still being 17, the CD to this live program was released Aug 26th which made my mother order it from the music store.
Ich war noch Schulkind, da war er hier in Köln in den Messehallen. Schon damals war ich total begeistert von seiner Musik und hab Mamas Schallplatten von ihm rauf unter gehört. Danke Harry!!!!

Hello I am so sorry if this sounds weirds but you wrote such a nice and wonderful comment on here and I like your comment. I can tell you're a very positive person. If it's okay with you I'd love to be friends
This was such a big hit in 1958 when I was a kid. He's still so handsome. I love the scene in Beetlejuice when they sing this song.

Thanks for posting these videos. I can't stop listening to this amazing performance. They don't make music like this nowadays. :'(
Oldies song never dies 🤗👊
I'm grateful my mom (born 1940), who raised me on this music and the oldies films! This was in the 60s and early 70s. We both loved and still love Mr Belafonte. He brought so much sunshine to the world in his music and movies. And he gave us the sights and sounds of the Afro-Caribbean Calypso of his heritage. As well as the history of how bananas reach market! The hearts and minds of the laborer, the harvesters, in those conditions (did you catch the black tarantula line?!). Love the diversity of this audience. And the gorgeous, heartfelt delivery of song Harry gave them. That voice! That face! That smile! Such a light! And if you followed him any time in recent years, as I have, I must share, I also love his politics.
Hello Barbara
How are you doing today?
Goodbye great man. You made us all sing and be happy with your song. Did'nt we?
Happy Anniversary !
