- This must be one of the most highly anticipated and highly impressive OO gauge steam models, ever. Excellent sound, stunning detail, smooth performance and all for a very reasonable price.

All other video, sound effects, graphics and photographs are my own.
I've just got mine.
I had doubts about the blue livery, but now I have it, I love it.
Such a handsome locomotive!
This intro is my favorite out of all the other intros.
Finally cab detail!
That big o'l lug of copper next to the cab is the water injector I think. :D
Awesome review Will, Series 7 has gotten off to a great start!
I never thought I'd say this but, Will spend more time looking at the detail! I Just want to glue my eyes to it! And I'm a LNER person!
I see you are very happy with this locomotive. Congrats!
it's the most perfect model I have ever seen. Great review as always Will. Thanks
What a fantastic model and an excellent video as always
It's great to see the good old IC82 videos again! Except they're not old! Great video will!
One thing I love about your videos is how you remain captured with the excitement unboxing of a model every time. Your video made me a fan of railway and railway modelling.Keep it up and please upload more videos in the future..A true fan and fellow enthusiast from India!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes! Another video! Im happy now.
Incredible steam trains!
normality has resumed a great video as ever welcome back and hail series seven
I love these videos
Awesome Review, InterCity82!
Don't forget to buy the Hornby TTS Sound Flying Scotsman. 😊
the king class engines as well as most of the gwr tender engines were fitted with water scoops when going over water troughs when going at high speed, running out of tender water
I love your videos
it looks really good in BR blue!
The Kings are the largest 'class' built by the GWR. They build a one off prototype pacific (4-6-2) called The Great Bear that was larger. It was, I believe, the largest locomotive in Britain when it was built.
The copper piping under the cab is indeed the injectors at 10:23The valve gear is different. The inside cylinders are Walschaerts The outside cylinders derived from the inside cylinders via rocking bars. Another great vid Will
This is amazing! Could you do a racing vid between two of your diesels? Because I would love to see how fast they are! Best wishes Joseph. :D
great review btw My favourite gwrs are castles followed by halls and manors then kings then panniers then 2-8-0 s so yes
pst I am a gwr fan
Keep the vids coming woop
There's a really similar Castle class (Earl Bathurst, to be percise) at Didcot in GWR green.
If the last two locos have been down to the Hornby meeting, then awesome, looking forward to seeing more of the Hornby range, let's hope Bachmann get on board with sending locos for review too ;)
fantastic
@IC82 are you getting the newly announced retooled Princess Coronation Class pacific with TTS sound when it's released?
will the scoop is correct because on the exeter to kingswear line there was a water trough
A King in BR colours. Absolute sacrilege.
Yay series 7 has started
You were thinking of Walschaerts valve gear, which is not what you were looking at. The Walschaerts valve gear is used on the inside, while the outside is actually run from the inside valve gears via rocking bars.
What you were trying to name though is the 'cross head' which connects the piston on the con-rod and is held in place by the slide-bars.
My parents are coming back from Britain in a few days and I gave them three hornby locos to look out for. Black 5, tornado, and this one without the sound.
Awesome video Will, love the loco in both model for and real life.
I have been doing work on my layout and on my siding. the loco in one siding moves even if the points are switched against it and the loco in the siding which has the points on it also moves.
Do you know why??
watching your videos makes me want to watch thomas the tank engine again lol
Great review. I can tell you really liked this one. Have you ever given straight "tens" before?
The detail on the loco is excellent. Yes, I will consider adding this to my collection. Cheers, Angus.
Quick Question: I just bought a Hornby 9F with tender drive. What is tender drive? I am clueless. :)
Hey will, What is your favorite wheel arrangement? My personal favorite Wheel Arrangement is 2-10-4 Specifically the 2-10-4 Selkirk.
the shovel sounds like my TTS flying scottsman
IT looks so reel !!!!!!!
Hi Will, next time you speak to Hornby can you ask about a retooling of the class 91, possibly for the VTEC model coming out late Feb? Thanks
kings are my favorite GWR engine. br blue is beautiful
Great vid and a great locomotive Do you think Hornby/Bachmann would do a class 450/444
Hi Will. Wondered if you were planning any N gauge reviews anytime soon or will you mainly be reviewing Hornby??
Will tts soundf work on other systems? Is digitrax compatible?
The blue wagon in the background a few times is derailed.... That skyscraper of track is going to tip over eventually Will, but we wonder how high you will be able to stack track on it before it does? Beautiful loco this new tooling for the King class locos. Definitely deserving a 10 out of 10....
What coaches would be best for this engine? I'm guessing the blood and custard MK1 coaches? Were all passenger locomotives painted blue during early BR across all four regions?
+streamleazefishhouse Just realized you could triple head a massive trains using a Hall, Castle and this King... :D
The Kings, like the Castles had inside Walsharts motion
With DCC ready UK multiple units is it usually that only the motor carriage is fittet with a socket and the rest of the train is usually electrically connected or does every end-carriage and the motor carriage have a socket. I recently bought a Bachmann XC 220 and it only had a socket in the motor carriage and the train was not electrically connected.
That depends on each particular unit. The class 150 only has one socket. The 108 has two or even three.
I see, what I meant to aks was if most other multiple units share the problem of th XC Class 220 by Bachmann. The problem is that there are not enough sockets, there is only a socket for the motor, not the head/tail-lights
+Intercity82 the loco has a Stevenson valve gear
Nice. GWR must have had a lot of inspiration off PRR as the water scoop was first introduced by the Pennsy so trains didn't have to stop to take on water but would slow to 40 mph and collect water from a track pan, meaning trains could go till they ran out of coal which means circling the world as they used massive tenders. But on the locomotive it is very nice when it comes down to the smallest detail, all I can say is if it is not BR it should not wear BR cause that is not historically accurate to the engine.
the Brasswork under the cab is the injector, the piece of valve gear (motion) you pointed at is called the 'crosshead' 'Walschaerts' is a type of valve gear, the Kings are fitted with Collets version of Stephenson's straight link motion ;) my Will, did i teach you nothing on your day with me at the TR? :p
Why do you have Blue tack all over the homby track
amasing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! train
Hey are you going to do a review of the 80th anniversary of the silver jubilee
Thanks, Will, is mailbox Monday starting again, bet there is a bit of a backlog! ;)
+Ian TP Hopefully not. The mailbox videos just delayed more substantial videos of Workshop Wednesdays and the ATP project. While it was enjoyable to watch what people sent in, too many sent in locos without the proper postage. If they could not afford the correct postage, how many do you think could afford the repair parts?
+SeaToby11 If you had watched all of the mailbox monday videos, incorrect postage was a small minority, unpleasant I agree but since the post office changed the rules on postage ( a while ago ) it is a lot more complicated to figure out. Will was also overwhelmed with the amount of work he had on, mailbox, workshop, the 1950's part work, he simply overstretched himself, however since his meetings with google, hornby and bachmann and his 2 month break, hopefully he now has a plan to make the channel even bigger! :)
***** I hope so too. Last summer he was doing two mailbox shows weekly, and quite frankly they were getting somewhat boring. If people wish to contact him, Twitter and Facebook are available, along with RUclips comments. Do people have to see him reading their mail to him on RUclips? It is like the people who write first in the RUclips comments. Are they that self centered? All that time Will spent cranking out, editing, compiling, and uploading the Mailbox videos didn't generate that many views either. I rather he spent his precious time cranking out substantial videos, building a layout in his garage, Workshop Wednesdays, the APT project, and more reviews. By no means did Will desire to start a free loco repair shop...
Hi will have you considered doing a review on the blue rapier train set by Hornby and the new London Underground train by Bachman?
He did a review of the Blue Rapier
The linkage is called something like, Walchaerts valve gear.
Just for your information, Will. The Class 43s were Warships. ☺
When is the third part of building a model railway
Will the APT project ever continue?
Where's the Sunday short with the haul class and the King class with couches
You got to get the Hornby P2
he needs to make a video of his main layout
epic
could you do unboxing for the master of the glens
max he has
Can you please reveiw all the new 2015 thomas line
To get water from the tender is what that gold pipe under the tender and cab
I’m getting a Hornby king class but it has a double chimney
you should make a competition in the future for who can create the best shunting yard
Do a video on the majestic
Hello IC82 I thought I'd let you know that the livery is British Railways Express Passenger Blue not GWR King blue
Beautiful engine - only one critism is the gap between tender and cab is too large. Chuff synchronisation with wheels needs sorting but as we know this can be corrected through CVs.
Yes, it is walshaerts valve gear, but it's on the inside.
Given that there actually was a King Richard III in the class I guess they got their notes mixed up. (RIII is 6015, so...)
I think the smoke box door on the king Richard II open
the gwr built 2 abbey classes which were 4-6-2
Will, how can you not know about Walshaert's valve gear! It's on almost everything! (including the kings but it's on the inside)
Thought it would have been Stephenson's Valve Gear?
+George Miller Rail Photography and Videography George Stephenson, the black 5, was the only one that has the link motions
I'm assuming the Stephenson's Valve gear was on the outside and Walshaert's on the inside?
no, there was no external valve gear on any GWR loco.
I love your videos and could you do some more minecraft because I liked minecraft
I just fell in love.......
Is it really a class 8P
or are they being mean?
Just kidding lol! nice video will!
Will there ant NEVER BEEN TOO MUCH DETAIL
So the upgrade they got would make them The Kings of the Castles.
The only thing I want to know, is if you will still do Bachmann reviews, now that Hornby wants you to show off their newest products?
+Thomas No. 1 Fan Bachmann wants to collaborate with Will too. Nobody sells model train locos better than IC82 on RUclips.
is the front trucks/bogies supposed to look like that?
Why?
3 years late, but apparently yes: "To accommodate larger inner and outer cylinders the distinctive design of the leading bogie, with outside bearings on the fore wheel and inside bearings on the rear wheel."
I have this train
All 10 out of 10 .. LOL. Anything for a free'bee.
can OO and HO run on the same layout?
They can indeed, but HO locos will be abit smaller to 00 gauge locos but they can both run on the same track
+Christoff1996 Hallelujah
yes you can. but HO locomotives have a true 1:87 scale proportion to match the track. OO are oversized for the track since they are 1:76 scale on 1:87 track
Could this be operated on a regular DC track?
Yes, just take the dcc chip out and put in a blanking plate
it would be able to run on dc with the dcc chip in at is all the same track
i got a tts western express trainset just before christmas.i was always wondering if the track that came with it was like the DC track
Still a good model by Hornby at a good price.
I have a hornby top link king class called 'King George V'
The castle classes camemfrom the star class Will
The driving position appears to be on the right has opposed to the left.
That's because GWR Locos were right hand drive
+Titanic 5972 (Hilux5972) Sorry I didn't realise that.
R u going to call 6023 aka King Richard II Richie
#castles are life
