  • This is an unofficial, fan-created music video for Marillion's "Three Minute Boy", a track originally featured on their 1998 album "Radiation". A 2013 remixed version is used here as it has a fuller, more dynamic sound that fit the video action better. The video includes on-screen lyrics and filmed, movie-like imagery to illustrate the music biz tale within the song. Video created by Visualize Prog, April 2022.

Veramente un bel brano, interpretato molto bene, bellissime musiche e arrangiamenti. Radiation è un buon disco, come tutta la loro musica ❤❤❤❤❤.

Thanks so much for your feedback, Ansan. Glad you liked it. This one was really enjoyable to make because of the music business storyline and, of course, I got to listen to Marillion while matching up the visuals to music. 👍In case you haven't seen them, there are two other Marillion videos on this channel - "A Collection" & "Memory of Water".

Marek. Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm honestly just a hobbyist and make no money at all these videos, I just love the music and this is way of paying tribute and keeping my brain creative...This "3 Minute Boy" video is actually one of my own top favorites of the videos I have made. It was a lot of fun to work on because it skewers the music business and I was able to a bit of humor into it along with drama of the "3 minute boy's" self-destruction. I actually read up on Steve Hogarth's own comments on why he wrote the song and incorporated a lot of that into the video. The blonde girl doing make-up was purposely meant to be reminiscent of actress Patsy Kensit in her younger heyday, who was one of the real-life "celebrity girlfriends" that H makes reference to in the song. I plan to do more Marillion songs in the future, so stay tuned for those. There are already videos on the channel for "A Collection" and "Memory of Water" if you haven't seen them yet. So far the Marillion videos haven't been getting as many views as my Moody Blues videos, but I still plan to do more and hopefully at some point more Marillion fans will find them. Another favorite band on this channel is Mystery, Are you familar with them?...Omega Point is a fine new band. I'm a fan of Matt Cohen & John Paul Vaughan from their previous band, Ghost Community, and just about anything they team up on instantly has my interest...Thanks again for your kind words & encouragement!

Beautifully done - and a great song.
Particularly enjoyed them doing this live with all the audience participation.
This and "A Collection" were always fabulous live, and your videos for both are very lovely.
A sad moment when Marillion became the only band to issue a copyright strike to me, after years of being amongst the friendliest
    in that regard.
I suppose now they have their own streaming platform, it was a little expected - but still a sad day for me to be unable to feature them
on my channel anymore - apart from early Fish stuff.
Anyway. subscribed to you, and looking forward to some more Prog.
Enjoying "Mystery" who I really didn't know.
Maybe you can do a "Magenta" track at some stage?

Thanks PaulF. A copyright strike would be a sad moment indeed, and sorry to hear that happened with your channel. The way things are set up at the moment with YT a copyright holder can simply monetize the videos of others where their music has been used, so things like fan art vids can be of benefit to the artist if they want them to be. I think this is a pretty fair exchange honestly. I make no money from anything on this channel, and am OK with that. It's really just a hobby I took up for my own enjoyment and for other fans. In many cases, like Mystery, Realisea, the recent Tracy Hitchings tribute & others, permission to use songs was obtained before posting them, and in a couple of these cases I was asked by the artist to do certain songs..."Three Minute Boy" is one of my personal favorite videos that I've ever done. Got to inject some bits of dark humor, which I don't do too often. If it got pulled for a copyright strike that would be pretty sad to me, because a lot of work went into it. It has been shared by myself and others in several of the Marillion fan forums, so some band members and management must be at least aware of it by now. H era Marillion with is one of my all-time favorite bands, so hopefully a bit of loving fan art will not get put on the chopping block...As for Magenta, I am a big fan and would like to something from them at some point. I'd like to possibly do something from the "Home" album, as those songs have a strong storytelling aspect to them...And definitely check out some more of Mystery. Another long time favorite of mine, and their official RUclips channel has a lot of album tracks, videos and lots of live concert footage from their official DVD releases.

@@visualizeprog2874 Thanks for your great response.
I don't think you have to worry at all about strikes, as you have fair use policy with such strong visuals.
My channel is purely a record of my favouite artists and songs over the last 40 odd years - I tend to avoid official videos because of copyright, although I have learned which artists - or at least their record companies are OK with it.
So a lot of live songs - upscaled to HD wherever possible - certainly not all Prog, although a fair bit is - my favourite current artists include Propaganda, The Adventures, The War On Drugs, Aimee Mann, Within Temptation, Au4, Fleesh, Landmarq, Lacuna Coil, Magenta, Concrete Blonde and Jackson Browne, among many, many others from Prog, Rock and Pop.
Out of those, Fleesh are Brazilian couple who are wonderful - they do covers and original stuff - a lot Prog orientated. There covers include Marillion, Rush, Floyd and King Crimson - and they are just beautiful. A few on my channel, or just look up Fleesh on YT - I think you will love Gabby's voice.
I used to donate for reaction videos - not for almost a year now though as many reactors want ridiculous sums for each one or insist on a Patreon monthly charge, without any guarantee of a song being chosen. I donated to one, who was then a favourite reactor, some Marillion, as at the time some of the "Holidays In Zelande" was available on here for a short time.
Anyway, I think the live "Three Minute Boy" and "A Collection" are now the only copies showing on YT. Along with another great reaction to "Gaza" - not sure you would risk doing a "Visualize" to that one !!
If you want to see will post the links separately in a few minutes, as I don't want to risk the whole post getting deleted - YT have a lot of previous for that 😥😥

@@paulf2557 I have seen many of Fleesh's cover song videos. and they are a fine, fine band. Their version of "Season's End" is beautifully done. Haven't heard any of their original music yet, but am glad to hear that they are doing that...I had a look at the react video links you sent and they were ones I had actually seen before! Love the commentary on "A Collection". I've probably watched most of the Marillion reacts that are on YT at least once, some more than once.

@@visualizeprog2874 I think the Fleesh original you might enjoy most is "Pile Of Bones", as it a lovely track and has a magical ""Visualized" type video to go with it.

Going back to Marillion for a second, I presume you have seen the fan made one for "Grendel"?
It really is beautifully done - but I think you could probably do better - although with such a long track would take a lot of effort.
      Just a thought anyway 😃

PaulF - Also. As for what I use for my video editing - would you believe that it is just the standard Windows Movie Maker that came free with Windows 8? While a very basic video editod, I learned a lot of tricks and techniques over time to use it's features to the fullest and pull off some fairly complex edits with it. However this particular Movie Maker was officially discontinued by Windows in 2017, though myself and some other RUclips video makers have continued to use it. It's honestly better than the more advanced (and NOT free) video editors that have replaced it since 2017. Windows 11 has their own newest video editor called ClipChamp, which has some similar features to the old Windows Movie Maker, but some big differences, too...If you are interested in making videos then definitely check out all those footage sites mentioned. Lately I've come to favor Pexels as the best of the bunch, though the others all have good content, too. Hope that's helpful.
