Every time I see the tree grown from that shoe in the final cast and crew animation, I get very very emotional. man, it makes me love this world. wow wow...
To me, the most amazing thing is how the film's director somehow made a fat guy getting back up on his feet after being knocked down such an awesome, awesome thing. And the fact that they set Captain McCrea standing back up to Also Sprach Zarathustra -- which has been the musical 'dawn of a new age' leitmotif since at least 2001: A Space Odyssey -- is just awesome sauce on an already awesome scene.
I like that the auto pilot isn't evil like it may have been in other movies or shows. It's just following the last order it received from the person at the top of the command

John of Mary and John (the couple Wall-E brings together) is John Ratzenberger, a Pixar staple
As someone who remembers 8-tracks, vinyl, and a custom playlist being a mix-tape (for portability with either a shoulder mounted boom box or a hip mounted Walkman) you saying iPod’s are old made me feel ancient. 😜
Tom Hanks Wolly Ball is called *Wilson*
" *I'm sorry Wilson....I'm sorry!!!* "
One of my favorite movies ever!
That was the great comedic actor Fred Willard as the B&L spokesman. John Ratzenberger and Cathy Najimy were John and Mary and Jeff Garlin was the Captain.
The glowing red thing in the middle of the steering wheel was a reference to HAL in 2001. They even played some of the 2001 music during the scene where the captain was fighting the wheel.
The DVD of this has some great shorts worth watching if you can get ahold of one.
7:26 That's Michael Crawford: he played Frank Spencer in "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em" and the title role in "The Phantom of the Opera''.
my favorite quote from a movie critic said "I don't think any other movie in the world could get away with not saying a single word the first 20 minutes and be this successful, and thats the beauty of it."
Two distinct types of people watch this film and get different feelings... I'm Wall-E because I'm waiting for someone I loved to come back and I'd give anything to just have her take my hand again. All I want is to be loved and not alone anymore..
A year has passed since I wrote the above. The girl I loved died in my arms.. She did come back, but only for the briefest of moments. Now I have lost everything and am truly alone.
@@davidr1050 I am so sorry for your loss I can't say it gets better but don't be sad that you lost your partner be happy you enjoyed your time together when you had the chance I can't say I feel your pain nor will I understand what you feel but I hope you find comfort in knowing you had someone
Appropriately enough, the music that plays at 20:01 is The Ascent of Man, from 2001: A Space Odyssey. In fact Otto, with his glowing red eye, is a big reference to HAL9000 from that movie
The joke with Hal the Roach (named after silent filmmaker Hal Roach and HAL2000 from 2001: A Space Oddysey, which heavy inspiring AUTO) is that coachroaches are not easily exterminated and are known to survive even apocapyltic scenarios. In real life, a roach does get killed if squished like other bugs and definitvely by a laser blast.
We are on our way toward this future, with a generation that parks themselves in front of a computer and lives on doordash. Lol
There is an episode of LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS that reminded me of WALL-E
Really?

@@RayMcElroy50 Noted! :)
I recommend that you see the 80s movie "Short Circuit". You'll find that Wall-E took inspiration from it to some degree. You'll love it!
Batteries Not Included is another along the same line.
As others have mentioned, if you watch the credits, they show the evolution of the Axiom humans and the reparation of Earth in still art. It's really beautiful.
The end credits kinda show them rebuilding earth if you stopped it right away.
2:38 yes! I actually still have and use my IPod shuffle; that one is the nano which is bigger than shuffle🤣 and was released after.
Andrew Stanton also directed Finding Nemo
That guy you saw at the beginning was Fred Willard. He played Phil Dumphy's dad on Modern Family. He passed away recently. RIP
This is truly, one of my favorite romantic comedies of all time.
this is legit one of the best films ever.
One of the few animations of this ilk that sticks with you. Wonderful film.
"Is it a weed or an actual plant?"
Weeds are just plants you don't want in your garden, so I assume the definition of what's a weed would change drastically in this situation...
No. There's a difference:
If you pull it out of the ground or otherwise kill it and it grows back, it is a weed.
If you water it and it dies, it is a plant!
@@kiillabytez Bruh.... that is just not correct
@@MagicTater It was a joke, "bruh"
Every time I see the tree grown from that shoe in the final cast and crew animation, I get very very emotional. man, it makes me love this world. wow wow...
The musical he's watching and humming to is Hello Dolly 🙂
To me, the most amazing thing is how the film's director somehow made a fat guy getting back up on his feet after being knocked down such an awesome, awesome thing. And the fact that they set Captain McCrea standing back up to Also Sprach Zarathustra -- which has been the musical 'dawn of a new age' leitmotif since at least 2001: A Space Odyssey -- is just awesome sauce on an already awesome scene.
I'm sure you've noticed that Auto's red eye is also a direct reference to HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey. :)
Mary: "Are you old enough to remember the old iPods?"
Me at 53: "Yeah, about that..."
I was thinking similarly, and I'm only 38.
@@gurvmlk 55 now and still going strong! 😁
@@RetroJack Well on that note, I'll technically be 39 in about a month.
@@gurvmlk Hope you have a great birthday! 🎂
@@RetroJack Thanks.
20:07 - "Also Sprach Zarathustra" on the soundtrack! Another 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY callback.
The minimal-dialogue thing might also be a 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY ref.
This is the first movie I remember seeing in theaters. It hits so much harder now that I can understand all of the messages and symbolism.
The live version was from "Hello Dolly" a musical starring Barbra Streisand, a must watch 😊
I like that the auto pilot isn't evil like it may have been in other movies or shows. It's just following the last order it received from the person at the top of the command
I love Wall E. I would love to have a Wall E to help me clean up the house.
Or you can use VAQ-M, the vacuum cleaner robot from the movie
by the way, plants have been on this ship before. But the captans didn't know about it because of the robot.therefore, they lived for a very long time on this spaceship
"A romantic Sci-Fi with a message" ...and lot and lots of cannibalism
" no no, hes got a point "
"Old iPods"?! LOL, I still am using this one, for over twelve years now. - Okay, it is old ... 😆
And the music playing while the captain is getting on his feet is a reminiscence to "2001". You should watch it. Just saying. ^^
There are a few references to 2001 including the eye of the Autopilot. I would hesitate to recommend it however, not sure it would be her cup of tea (even though it's my favourite film)
I forgot about the eye, right!
Best Pixar film! Amazing use of so many non-verbal elements that still translate tons of emotion and intent.
This movie and the good dinosaur doing a lot with little dialog is something i really respect
16:31 - Auto's appearance is *definitely* an homage to HAL-9000 in 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY.
(Which you should watch!!)
The E in WALL-E stood for Earth while the A with the WALL-A's stood for Axiom.
My favorite movie from Pixar. Such good messages of love and stewardship for your home
Don't know if you saw but Eve and Walle sparked when he couldn't remember Eve. The "kiss" reactivated him :)
“Their only dialogue between each other is Eve! Wall-E!” Just like Finn from Star Wars only line is Rey!
If you liked this one, give Titan A.E. a run. It is the last animated movie, also sci-fi, from the Don Bluth studio (Feivel and Land before Time series), due to being financially unsuccessful and thus ending the company. But it is criminally underated.
I highly recommend "Short Circuit" (1986)! Especially if you love Wall-E!
The musical that wall e watches is Hello Dolly and it’s a fantastic movie on its own. Would definitely recommend if you haven’t seen it
