This was our first cruise port. Our budget was thiiiiiiiight and this free beach gave us life. It was $12pp for the ski left that was the only money we spent and the photos and views were life changing
First, LOVE your videos! 2nd, you are knocking on the door to that silver play button! Welcome to the club!!!! 3rd The wind turbine question. Wind turbines are built with a braking system to control the blades from runaway. The brakes will slow the turbine when there is too much wind to operate the unit safely and can also lock the blades to a stop is need be. If the turbine is also taken OFFLINE meaning it isn't needed to produce power for the grid it is on, you will also see them at a stand still. 👊
Right^ Power businesses don't want to over load systems or over spend creating power. so they only buy the cheapest power available to meet the load for the day
Wind turbines can stop turning their blades due to a variety of factors including wind speeds that are too fast or too slow and extreme weather conditions. The turbines will stop themselves from spinning if they cannot get any energy from the wind or if their blades will be damaged by a movement that is too rapid. They also stop them to do maintenance.
@@angelsmilkyway4352 also if the demand is low the wind turbines won't inject power into the grid. It is possible that they have a battery storage facility and running off battery power at the time you were there.
I think Roatan was my favorite port when we sailed on the Carnival Glory for our Christmas/New Year’s cruise. We had an awesome all inclusive beach day and the service and scenery were awesome!
I was aboard a ship in the Navy. Viet-Nam, crossed the Pacific, and the Caribbean. Got up and out early often before ship's work started to see the sunrise. Always the best way to start a day.
If there's too much wind speed, windmills can shut down operation to avoid damage. So, if it's really windy, it may be too windy for them to operate safely. That's one possible explanation.
I don't know about the ones in Rotaan but the wind farms near us usually only run up to about half of the windmills at a time, and the running ones aren't producing at full capacity. It varies depending upon the amount of wind, the amount of juice in the batteries, and the maintenance schedule of the windmills. But the power cables are too old and too few to carry all the power from the wind farm to where the power is going to be used.
Nice. You two are my kind of people. I will be walking the top decks and enjoying the views early in the morning. Will take advantage of pools and hot tubs on port days, but will never forget to explore the port or miss a beautiful beach!
Windmills not spinning ~ either too much wind, maintenance or at electric capacity for the expected output. Port looks beautiful, one of the few i have not been along the gulf routes.
Ok, how many people watched Jason try to spread his toes and then tried it themselves? LOL! I did! Mine don't spread much, but a little more than yours, Jason. Too funny! Hope the shoulder heals quickly and you're back in action soon!
One of my favorite ports, love all the handmade crafts! And Blue Iguana is my favorite place to eat on the ship! Oh did I mention my favorite ship too...A triple threat LOVE IT!!!!
We got rerouted there due to a medical on our last cruise and we all loved this port. Its beautiful and the beach is nice...had the strongest drink of my life there!
Mohagany Bay looks like paradise. Hey guys I am totally booked for my cruise. Had Michele booked my flight to Seattle. You need to give her a raise. She has been so helpful. May have to put your cruise to my bucket list. Hope you feel better soon Jason . Take it easy.
Love Mahogany Bay-we rented one of the beach cabanas and it was fantastic. Husband found a conch shell, handed it to me and a huge hermit crab flew out. Got a a quick pic and I Brett Favre’d him back to a deeper locale.
They can lock the windmills for maintenance and for other reasons. If it’s windy and they aren’t turning then they have them stoped for a good reason. Love y’all’s videos!! Much love from the IAH airport area in Humble Texas!!
Jason you are hilarious! But, I agree....cruising is ideal for people with "short attention span"....just pack, get on a beautiful ship, and chill as you wish. ⛱ 🍸 🧉
Also can't wait to get back there to get some more of that chocolate rum!!!! Man that stuff is so good! We went back there a couple of years ago on the Breeze for the purpose of getting said rum only to get all the way there but the wind was too high for us to dock. We then went BACK to Cozumel for a 2nd visit on the same trip. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
I have to say Mahogany Bay has been THE best FREE beach we have ever been to..Was just there a couple weeks ago on the Mardi Gras..The Pride was also in port with us, so there were a LOT of people on the beach..Even so, it was a great time!
Jason, no no no. It is "Liquor before Beer, you are in the clear" and "Beer before Liquor, never been sicker". Great video, as usual. Comparing this to the one you did there a few years ago where you drove around the island. Thanks for sharing.
New Subbie. Going on Vista in Sept. Lol Again but ty alot for this and all Vlogs. And I LOVE the chill on the Ship 1st thennn head off and that can cut back on some of the people. But yall being the only ship in port was a Major help too. Lol.
Guys, we love that we found your videos. Open honest, fun to watch. We from Scotland , living in Kingwood Texas loving the local cruise port. We onboard Vista this weekend and then Liberty in May.
We were on other side Coxen Hole last month. Wow this port is looking good. We have to try it on Princess. Thanks for the great suggestion on going to the free beach. Enjoy your travel. 😎🤙
Hi Alisa/Jason...great vlog. I was laughing and smiling all the way through. Salt and Peppa. lol adhd me as well. nothing bad about it.. valid point Jason.
Hope your shoulder heals well Jason. My dad had surgery on his rotator cuff on his left shoulder a few years back. Decades of softball on the AF bases, and being in the bowling league for 5 years.
those modern windmills will run till the batteries they have at the base are fully charge and then they will turn off till the battery is below a certain percentage of charge
Have you done a video on cruises you didn’t enjoy or would not recommend and why? Just a cold Canadian wishing I was somewhere warm ! Love your channel 💕
I have been one 1 cruise! In 2019 this one your on! I loved it! I started watching you 2 then and totally enjoy! Crossing the bridge to the beach i seen barracudas. I am so enjoying watching this cruise because of the been there done that. Best time ever. Thank you for the awesome videos
I’ve been watching y’all to get hyped up about my family’s cruise in March out of Miami. I can’t wait to be sitting on a beach with a cold drink in my hand.
I’ve been on Carnival Sunrise and was supposed to be on Carnival Pride from January 30-February 5 BUT had to push that cruise back to beginning of December because both my son & I ended up with Covid! I like the Cheers package that Carnival has! I eventually want to try other ships besides Carnival!
I just recently subscribed to your channel. Y'all & your boys are just too adorable. I almost feel like we are neighbors since y'all are in Alex & we are in West Monroe. Keep up with the great videos. Love them! They are so informative as well as entertaining.
The windmills are not spinning because it is probably too windy. They can only spend so fast once the wind reaches a certain speed an automatic brake is engaged.
Love your videos. Can't wait to get to meet you guys on the breakaway vloggers group cruise in January of 2023. I know y'all have been in New Orleans what hotel do you recommend that is close to the cruise port.
Roatan is beautiful, we went to the same beach during our July '21 sailing, but man is Fat Tuesday expensive. We spent over $60 for just myself and mother to eat and have one alcoholic drink each.
Alisa, can you tell me where you got your swimsuit? I love it! Looks so good on you! My husband and I love your videos! We watch you both all the time!!! Keep on cruising through life and loving each other!
Been to roatan, not one of my favorites, the city’s there are not clean. It was cool seeing how they live though, the excursion we did was a over the water bungalow and I loved that though. Cruised on the ncl joy ❤️
Ahhhhhh this was so very enjoyable! Getting up real early on a ship is indeed a very special time... and how cool was that Manta Ray ! How's the shoulder doing ?
All modern wind turbines are are set to stop turning automatically if there's too much energy in the wind. ... The reason turbines shut down like this is for safety - if the wind is too fast it can put major stress on the blades and mechanisms inside the turbine causing lots of friction and long term damage.
I went to the west bay beach in Roatan in December and found the water chilly too. It must be a cold spot in the Caribbean. It seems like the Eastern Caribbean has warmer seas.
The wind turbines are not turning because it is early in the morning and the demand on the electrical grid is not high enough to warrant the need for extra power generation and the fact that power it produces can't be stored, they shut them down so the grid is not over powered. It is a fine line between to little and to much power which can be detrimental to the grid.
This was our first cruise port. Our budget was thiiiiiiiight and this free beach gave us life. It was $12pp for the ski left that was the only money we spent and the photos and views were life changing

I figured it had more to do with the lack of infastructure to support the power it actually generates.

Hi Alisa and Jason!
Wa agree 💯 percent. There’s nothing better than waking up early on a ship 🛳🌅🌊

Then why are we building them? Sounds like more energy/work being used to maintain

Yes you got to get the breakfast burrito. It’s huge and really good! I miss blue iguana can’t wait for April of next year on Panama!!!
Oh we did later on the cruise 👍
Can’t wait to have one and a guys burger!
Windmills only turn when needed for energy. We have them all across Iowa.
Texas has a ton also, but it makes no sense to me at times to not benefit from the wind. Infastructure needs to be better.
Where did you get your hat and swimsuit from? The ship looks great. Like Mahogany beach it seems relaxing.
