- I was wrong, man. So wrong... In my review of Destiny 2 I gave it a lot of praise with some criticism, but I really felt because of the improvements made, that it was a sign Bungie would return to their former glory. But so many things have gone wrong and happened since that video, and I'm here to correct my mistakes.

Just to be clear, I was wrong about Destiny 2 signaling the return of Bungie's glory days. I was wrong about many other things and I want to clear them up.
The Act Man you should try Warframe, it’s like a better destiny, AND it’s a free to play (not pay to win) with free dlc
You may be wrong about bungie’s returning glory days, but you were right about everything else. The game still is an improvement.

It's funny to watch this 3 years later after they've literally made the original game and first DLCs unplayable
I got back into the game just a couple weeks ago, and i was actually kinda sad i couldnt play through the red war again. Its kind of insane to see how different the game is is 4 years later

Ngl, at the time i was hyped when i heard that bungie left Activision, thought that the game could finally be what it should be
But it turns out the game got even worse after parting with activision, they just flipped the fattest bird to his playerbase:
-Deleting old (Paid) content from the game
-Mass sunsetting, making your old, hard earned gear obsolete
-Red War campaign gone, now new players can't even know why the fuck they are fighting nor what happened before New Light
-Light Level is a blatant powercreep its a fucking joke
It's honestly more scummy than ea was in 2017, at least then you

The best part is to find people still defending that, I can defend shit, but not when that shit doesn’t treat me good, Destiny is an abusive lover that it’s not worth your pain at all

Played destiny since day 1 and the game is…just a mess. 80% of the game is vaulted(basically deleted and may return” the lore got even more confusing with flying pyramids and darkness shit. So, two years later, and I am on the verge of quitting Destiny 2, the current season has drained me with the lack of content and what content there is simply sucks, on top of which the next season is supposed to add an update that makes older content weapons useless in new content, and essentially is going "Oh? You don't have Shadowkeep or whatever expansion is out now? Well fuck you because your gear is going to be too weak to do shit." I am sick of this bullshit, and I honestly see this as Bungie having been corrupted by working with Activision for so long. And mind you, by the time of this comment, the game has not only lost Activision's handle on things, but the game has also been F2P for about a year, and this shit is still going on.

@John Chaser While the RNG reduction is nice as well as the raid incentive, it does not change the fact that sunsetting is a lazy attempt to balance the sandbox by pushing old sandbox items from the meta. Not to mention legendary weapons have some of the coolest designs I've seen, many of which will become useless in PVE content due to being older than Forsaken, an issue that I don't see being fixed unless the sunsetting idea gets dropped entirely, simply because transmogging gear is more of a traditional MMO feature and it would take away from the incentive for some players to go and earn those weapons rather than the skin.
As someone who has played since the PS4 D1 alpha. Give up on it man, it's really not worth it anymore. Hell for years I was in denial about Bungie my favorite game studio from the Halo games and was convinced they'd get it right and they still keep doing the same BS over and over again.

Yeah my complaints about the game have to do with the gear system. I mean, I spent countless hours grinding weapon quests like thorn and luna’s just to have bungie “sunset” everything so I can’t use it efficiently anymore. Sure, I got over that after a while, but when beyond light came out any player can just... have it?! Like are you kidding me. What was the point of me playing the game if bungie would just give it to all the new light players who have never played the fckin game before?? This is honestly the dumbest thing to come out of beyond light in my opinion

Outside of forsaken all year one content got made free, but that doesnt diminish the fact people paid for it and didnt really get anything in turn for having done so when said content went free
Sigh, I remember a simpler time when Destiny Came out and me and a friend played the hell out of it up until the taken King. So happy I didn’t continue that grind fest of a game.
The raids with buddies were its peak but eventually the game got stale as hell.

This is what I said to people before the game came out. I couldn’t even understand why they were so hyped for a game that looked exactly like the previous one. I get the same excuse every time “it’s a sequel it’s supposed to be the same” but it’s different. EVERY LITERAL thing is the same, I don’t think anyone would want to buy a game that’s basically a DLC. The only thing new they added was border in the HUD display around blocks

Maybe I just hang out with smart people but I've literally never met a person blind enough to defend Bungie. Then again, this video got over 1,300 dislikes so someone's still riding that stupid train, mouth open, cross-eyed with a huge grin on their face, wondering where their money went.
Its cuz they are bungie fanbous but they dont realise that the nest of bungie "the old bungie" has been fired. In 2014 because they didnt give them do anything in destiny1 and some leaved in 2010 befor halo4 came out. I like the old bungie who did halo 3 but the new ones are shit. They still have some of the older bungie era devloppers but the new ones suck. Fuck you activision.
Unfortunately this is why the game industry 's insistence on calling games "a service" rather than a product is so insidious. If you buy a product you have certain consumer rights, but when you buy a service the rules change....
I don't see a big problem on making them a service, specially when 90% of the substance of a game is the multiplayer, it will be irrelevant in 5-6 years. The problem is them charging 60 bucks for a big budget asset flip and then ask you to pay extra money to get stuff that isn't even close to make up what a full game is worth.
Gaming is dead. Everyone needs to accept this.

These things are connected. A product has certain rules and consumer protections. So does services but they are a bit different and harder to define. For example - a tangible product doesn't have a time limit. A service does. And services can be very difficult to measure whereas a product is easier.
Services are susceptible to change. A product is usually not. Generally speaking.
This is a very superficial description, I know. There are tons of different laws and rules and definitions, but it should at least give some idea as to why game companies are so insistent on calling it a service rather than a product.
Also, there's the insinuation that they are doing it for us - the consumers - which of course is a blatant pr stunt.

I defended Destiny for the first 3 years. Now... There's no way I can defend it. Bungie dug themselves into a hole that they will unlikely be able to recover from anytime soon. It really is a crap game. I too was wrong.
Brave Paragon destiny 1 was so much better, at least after year 1 it was just much more enjoyable and fun!

Three years now from that video, and even though I started playing Destiny 2 since mid November, I find it very entertaining.. If I understand correctly, both the curse of Osiris and the Warmind DLCs are now free as well as the game. Forsaken and Shadowkeep are still monetized, but oh well...
But I don't know.. I played like 300 hrs so far, and the game still manages to give me that joy I want.
it is fun but bungei still isn't fully prepared to support the endgame but it does have a lot of content for players who joined recently.

This was a power move on Bungie's part. Everyone is going to think since Activision isn't involved anymore we'll get a good game without a bunch of bullshit expansions and predatory microtransactions. Not gonna happen. They did the same thing TWICE and they won't hesitate to do it again. Anything for a quick buck.

@Old Liquid Overloaded? Meaning it has more content to explore. Destiny ends when the story ends. People say that the end game is where destiny shines but its just a small selection of shit done poorly. Raids for example. They're more of a minigame/puzzle, after someone finds out how to do it and uploads the footage. Everyone copies.
To your 'and GUNS!' comment. The guns in destiny all feel simple, there's nothing special about picking up a weapon just because it has a higher number/level attached, there's barely any modding/customising and compaired to Warframes weapons, they're very stale.
I won't even go into your part about Destiny having lore to grind....

And the new content now is also very miniscule because now bungie has not enough manpower to support this type of game. And now destinys microtransactions have become worse as now only bright engrams come from the season pass instead of leveling, so new cosmetics are a rarity. Destiny has shat the bed and it shows

Destiny is just a heavily modified version of halo's game engine. Now Destiny 2, its the absolute same thing as destiny 1 with a slightly modified UI and bull shit cash grab
Blizzard is still completely seperate, and has enough corporate power and money to sustain on its own without activision attatched to it, activision has nothing to do with their decisions.
Watching this in December 2021 - it feels almost prophetic. In Beyond Light the trend continues: even when you buy an expansion, you still have to pay for the seasonal content and the Eververse. Fine we got the Cosmodrome for free. And then even when you pay for all of that you still lost Mars, mercury, Titan, Io, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, The Red War, Menagerie, The Reckoning, Gambit Prime, Forges, The Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, 2 Gambit maps, like 7 strikes, another ~10 Crucible Maps...
I could go on, but I think I made my point. I haven't even mentioned transmogrification, progression throttling, time-gated progression, seasonal resets of power/progression, or the cost of masterworking stuff. It just feels like greed through and through. I wouldn't be so mad if I hadn't paid for all of the above, only to lose it, and to have it replaced with more of the same. I've just had it with the business practices. Which is too bad because it's a fun game - but one where the fun is ruined by greedy practices.
well you can't exactly just stuff a lot of content into one game, have it lag, and call it a day without making a whole new game. That's the whole reason they even stripped stuff from the game in the first place.. To reduce lag, load times, errors, be able to make bigger things, make space, and make it easier on them in general. Trust me, I hate not being able to play all the stuff I paid for but I just learned that some things gotta happen in order to have much cooler and fun things! Like WQ for example :3.

Man, I really fucking felt it when you said you're tired of companies and good franchises falling victim to greed time and time again.
There isn't any fucking passion in these developers hearts anymore, except their single-minded passion for pieces of green paper. I have always been a proponent that the games I played as a kid were just better. Not because I was wearing nostalgia blinders, but because game developers like Bungie and Blizzard actually gave a shit about what they were creating. Gaming has become such an "industry" now that that's ALL it feels like sometimes. Greedy, money grubbing corporate goons that want to exploit you for every cent you're worth.
Sometimes, I get a game that reels me back in, like any Fromsoft title or things like Hollow Knight and Psychonauts 2. Games with such utter heart and soul behind them that it feels like how gaming used to be: An artform and a passtime that prioritized one thing...Fun. I can only hope that, at some point, there's a return to form. Only time will tell, I suppose.

When WOW releases an expansion, it introduces new races/classes to choose from. When Bungie releases a $60 SEQUEL they don't even give us new sub-classes I mean wtf man.
Subclasses are to much lets be honest you already got 9 choices why would we need more?

Because people already played this game, PLUS the previous, with the exact same 3 main classes. The sub classes already barely change your play style, but at the very least more of that should have been the minimum for a fully priced sequel. It's not that 9 sub classes are too many, it's that there are STILL only 3 main classes across 5 years of Destiny 1 and 2

Sadly that is how it works and fans refuse to let it go, fans need self respect and not buy stuff. They need to have standards and not get abused by the devs.

I think that this video explains why I cant find any good games anymore. It just blows my mind that I used to love almost every single game I ever bought. Now that everything is about money and not about the content of the game, I think I can finally see why its so hard to find a game that I can really fall in love with.
