I'm noticing some paralleling between Edison square and Walt Disney's carousel of progress. Orville in the bathroom at act 4 and the turkey in the oven to name a few. So it looks like the '94 version is not only a tribute to the '64 version, but also to Edison square!
0:13 “here for example is a scale model of the General Electric Carousel Theater” -Walt Disney
Despite this version never being used, the beginning instrumental did make it into Walt’s pitch to GE along with the first theme song variation from the second to last “There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow” up to “just a dream away”
This version is interesting I've been to the modern day version and it never gets old. One of Walt's classic attractions. There's a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day. And may the century begin.
I SO remember the Carousel of Progress at the World's Fair in '64. This is very close to the audio version I remember with Rex Allen (much better than the later Jean Shepherd version), but they made several changes in each "theater." Thanks for sharing!
I like the Jean Sheppard version but I really wish they would just reuse the original Rex Allen audio with some edits to fit with today’s standards
@@CornerBallparkWb unfortunately Rex Allen died in 1999, so this would be hard to pull off if at all
@@MrAwesomedude808 yeah that's true. And unfortunately since Jean shepherd is also gone if they ever want to add new parts they would either have to find a really good impressionist or recast johns role
Love this! Where did you find this version?
It's on the CD _A Musical History from Disneyland_ from 2005.
“Utopia Unlimited”
😳 no thank you
