- So the past few months I've been eyeing these Sapphire Blue PS Vita's on eBay. It's one I've always wanted for years and it seems the population of active listings for these is dwindling. So before they vanish or skyrocket in price, I decided to take the plunge now. I also bought a handful of cheaper games I've been meaning to get too. So, join me as I unbox all this PlayStation Vita goodness. PS5 has really overtaken a lot of the PlayStation mindshare but I won't let any of you forget that the Vita still lives!

I think the way PS Vita was marketed as the portable console hurt it I guess. I think the developers were afraid to create games for the system because of the high expectations unlike on the 3DS/PSP/DS. Sony marketed the Vita as a “handheld PS3”, on the go, console. The expectations for the games were high maybe the developers got scared of that expectation. I think.
The ones with holes are usually free copies that are given out to people, the holes are so they can’t return them to a store and get money back for the free game

Theoretically you could’ve boughten a replacement case for the game you wanted to return and get full retail price or at least some money back

Bought a used one from Japan, OLED. Was a bit hesitant but it looked clean. Turned out it was like brand new, literally not a single flaw. Awesome buy for like $140 8 months ago.
Still playing Killzone Mercenary online to this day! Absolutely love being able to play all games on Vita online for free. Long live the Vita in 2020 & beyond!

You can actually swap the ⭕ and ❌ functions in the setting regardless of where you bought your Vita.
Edit: It's right under the Accessibility settings then Button Assignments.
The Japanese button layout only applies to the main screen. In most games, it’ll revert to standard “x to confirm”.
Yep, it depends on the game. As an example if its a JRPG port, then X will be confirm, but if its the original JRPG with japanese txt, then O will be the confirm button.
It has more to do with on what region your game is labeled. If it's an R3 and R2 specifically Japan, then you're nearly guaranteed it's gonna use the Japan layout. If it's R1, R4, and the rest of R2 then it's gonna use the western layout. This is very notable on physical games. I can't say for digital since I prefer going for physical copies.
@@belligerentgoose3190 It's still weird. I was pretty glad when the first downgrade for PSP came out and I could downgrade my Japanese PSP that came with 1.51 or 1.52 out of the box from 2.00 to 1.50 and use a hack to switch those buttons.

I just went on etsy and found a Japanese white 1000 model for $185ish. It shipped on about a week

I just found my old vita and couldn't believe it still worked and made it through two moves across the east coast. Been having fun playing some classics.

Hey, just letting you know - with your copy of Viking the barcode had the two holes covering it.
I work for Sony myself and all of the copies that are given to staff have those holes in an attempt to prevent them from being sold anywhere.
Oh that's strange, or cool, idk. So those copies are stolen or someone at sony gave it to someone to resell or they reselled themselves?

I can't speak for PS3, but I worked at a music store that would receive CDs with hole punches on the barcode like that while still being sealed, for us it meant it was for store use to play in the store and not to be sold.

Ryan, regarding the circle and X buttons on Japanese Vitas. you can change this in the Accessibilty/Button Assignment menu - but only on later Firmware. Trouble is if you change the buttons for the main Vita menu, you also change it for game controls! I always use touch screen to access menu items anyway.
AirPods & Remote Play On the OLED models is the only real reason I still love my vita

Recently ordered my first Vita, and it comes in tomorrow! I’m really excited! Got the slick neon orange slim model.
I recently bought a sealed PlayStation Vita First Edition Bundle for more than I’d like to admit (but still significantly cheaper than the ones you’ll find on eBay) just to play/platinum Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and I already feel like I got my money’s worth.

Asif Khan Sony Bend is pretty proud of it, and Naughty Dog gave it a subtle nod in UC4, so it isn’t out of the question, but they’d have to rework a few of the Vita-specific puzzles for sure.
I think it has the best collectible system of the entire series since Drake actually comments on most of the items, and the ones that don’t have little blurbs detailing them instead.
It’s also a miracle that the game looked and ran as well as it did since Bend didn’t have final Vita hardware until a few months before launch, so the engine was developed on PS3 to be scaled down to Vita once the hardware was available to them.
Supply and demand. As time goes by the Vita will only get more expensive. The games and the PSTV reflects this.

I already have a Vita 1000 series and a 2000 series, but just yesterday bought a Glacier White 1000 from Japan. I love the Vita! Physical games are really going up in price, but some bargains can be found. Many digital games on PS Store are more expensive than the physical ones. I recently bought Lost Dimension for £14 in a case, but it's £35 on UK PS Store.
I had a PSvita Phat and it was amazing! Loved playing minecraft on the go as a child.

I got a 256GB MicroSD for mine, a SD2Vita adaptor and then I modded it. Now every game is free.

I've been tempted to get a PS Vita and all the Danganronpa games to play on the go. Seems like the Vita was the perfect system for visual novels. I prefer a big screen when I'm playing more intensive twitch type games, but a handheld just seems perfect for a more laid back story telling experience to go to sleep to.
I installed a Blue screen on my Original Black 3g model and I added white buttons and white new white analogs. I have several buttons kits I bought online. I'm going to start posting videos on restoring these beautiful machines.

I never got my hands on a handheld vita at the time, I opted for the PSTV instead and I dont regret that purchase to this day. The ability to play digital psp, as well as digital and physical ps vita games (some restrictions do apply sadly) was just a nice addition to my console collection.

The damn proprietary memory cards killed the Vita immediately. I remember buying the Vita and getting Uncharted Golden Abyss, memory card, and protective case. Spent well over $400. No handheld should feel like you spent as much money as you would on a console, no matter how powerful it is. Exactly why 3DS struggled badly at first until Nintendo dropped the price soon after launch.
Shame, Vita could have had a healthy and long lifespan if not for the prices which scared a ton of people off.
Especially if you can’t from the psp ... I wanted to get on but saw that price and was like eeeeek

I love that sparkling texture. It reminds me of the white PSP that came in the Assassin's Creed bundle. I miss that system (disc drive went bad like 4-5 months after getting it).
The Hole Punched game was either a Promo copy, or a copy that developers got to take home with them. It was a preventative measure for them not to be resold.

That blue Vita looks really good :) . I know this is an old video now but of the games you got I would really recommend World of Final Fantasy as I really enjoyed playing it on Vita.

Hay Mystic always enjoy the Vita videos! Make sure in regards to Death Mark you buy the $7.99 DLC from the PS Store as the cartridge only holds 5 chapters and the 6th DLC chapter is needed for the platinum trophy.

Bought an aqua blue vita from Japan a few months ago but the seller told me he couldn’t send to Ireland due to covid-19. He offered me a refund or wait. I decided to wait. I figured I waited this long to get one so waiting a few more months should be okay.
I've been looking to get one for years, given how much I loved the PSP.

I bought my white PSVita and PSP from Japan last year and they really kept them in like new conditions for me and I play the games I bought for them from time to time.

That blue Vita looks really good in that sapphire blue. If you haven't watched it, Metal Jesus took a trip to Japan last year and he goes to different game stores in Japan. He finds some cool Vita stuff there. Honestly with the prices people ask for Japanese goods to be ported here when it comes to games, systems and statues and such, flying to Japan and buying directly could save some money overall. I am hoping to do just that. Great video!
I bought exactly the same PS Vita about a month ago, Sapphire Blue 1000 model with the Oled screen, brand new from Japan. There’s not many of them around so I would guess we purchased it from the same ebay seller. Great handheld.
holiday of 2018 I ordered myself a brand new aqua blue ps vita from Japan and ordered a bunch of games. Many were kinda pricey but well worth it considering. Got some great accessories too like 2 grips..one is the nyko power grip and the other the hori remote play assist grip. Got a rare mad cats game case for vita still unopened and a camo pull n go folio that was stupid hard to find but found the camo one in excellent shape (literally like brand new) for 25 bucks. Love the vita especially for road trips.
Planning to get one the same color as yours :) Apparently they have a different battery from the other 1000s which gives it slightly higher battery life so that's pretty cool.
Haven’t put mine down in two months! My switch lite is now gathering dust, so now I’m trading it in and using that credit for my PS5!!
