- It sounded like a good idea, but then again PS4 games are finally coming down to really affordable prices. I found an eBay listing for 30 random PS4 games for $300 total. I decided to buy it and show you all what I got! And let me tell you: there's cases, box art, and discs. All of which speak to every fiber of my 'collector' being. Though we might take a rest on the random lots for awhile after this one, we'll soon dive into the world of legacy game collecting and see just how costly that will get. Stay tooned.

The seller lied in the description just to get you to fall for it and you did. They just bought a bunch of stuff at GameStop for really cheap and then sold it to you for more.
Yeah that anthem copy went for 2 dollars brand new at GameStop not too long ago, a lot of these pre owned games go for buy 4 9.99 games for 20 as well

As a former GS employee I can say the sleeves are a common practice. The sleeves are used to store discs that have their cases on display in the store. White sleeves are for New games and yellow sleeves are for pre owned. Depending on the employee they do just put the sleeve in the case for a timely checkout.
You should never open a NEW game and sell it as NEW

@@michaelmillington5601 But who is actually still playing on PS3 servers? The PS3 came out 14 years ago, most users have moved on. The PS3 doesn't generate money for them to warrant keeping the servers alive, while the PS4 will likely stay alive longer because money can and will be coming in considering you have to have PS+ for online gaming. Also, it becomes less of an issue if PS5 becomes backwards compatible with the PS4 library

The stuff in white sleeves is new and yellow is pre-owned. The codes are in the white sleeves so that when they gut the cases they make sure the codes don't get stolen for that copy when someone buys it.

I order from GameStop now and then and usually when I order a used game they put it in one of those envelopes so it doesn't become loose and bounce around in the case.
Actually a good idea. I've ordered a couple games off of eBay recently, and they will arrive loose. Still work and are fine, but still. It's nice when someone takes just a few extra seconds to ensure things aren't potentially getting even more damaged than they need to be.
@@wrenegade2638 I've had some seller put some bubble wrap in the case to prevent that. Main issue with eBay is it's just a matter of how much the seller cares about that sort of thing.
@@michellelesmell Yeah that's the toughest part. A lot of times I"ll check their store and try to buy from people who seem to "get" video games (or collectibles in general). Often times they're the ones with a tad higher selling price though.

For the sleeves in the case, when they gut games to put cases on the wall, sometimes the employee is in a rush and just puts the sleeved disc in the case. Also, sometimes they do it to protect the disc from cracking on the inside hole (only affects 360 and Wii in my experience).
Games stay in the sleeve when stores do RSBs. Its GameStop's weekly Store to Store transfers to help balance store inventories. So when you have to transfer one of your last 2 copies in your store the game in the sleeve just gets put into the game case. Hopefully that helps. -From a former store manager thanks for the videos

As someone that works at Gamestop, I don't really ever include the yellow envelopes since thats what the cases are for, but if a customer wants it then I'll give it to them. With the dlc, if it's new then we put the game in the sleeves with the dlc codes since we want to prevent customers just opening the cases and getting the dlc free. Hope that answers the questions!
10:53 That is exactly what is happening. A customer brings up the empty case and the employee goes and gets the disc in the sleeve. They are literally that lazy they won't open the sleeve and put the disc inside the case.

The paper sleeve is typically how they store the games in their inventory cabinet when it’s the only/last copy, so that they can put the case on the shelf. Normally, they take it out of the sleeve and put it in the case, but some associates just shove the sleeve in the case.
I’d love to see you start showing legacy stuff and doing videos about that. I’ve really been into GameCube recently, but you’re right, prices are crazy.

Former gamestop employee here. The paper sleeve thing is what they use to store their gutted games in drawers, ship loose disks (within or without cases sometimes) and occasionally sell disks in if a). The store ran out of blue ray cases b.) The store already had a bunch of copies of that game and they got shipped more so they just put it in the drawer without removing the shipping sleeve from the disk
Absolutely love these vids Mystic, and hope you do continue the random lots, even though I wasn't particularly pleased with this one. Think it was asking far too much, and ps4 has so many niche titles that would make up for a better valued/or simply more interesting lot. Though I do understand that may have been even more expensive.
But totally down for you going for some legacy titles to change things up.

Yes. The case and box art are displayed on the shelf and the disc and sleeve are stored in a drawer in alphabetical by system. When a customer wants to buy the game, they bring the game case to the counter and the employee gets the sleeved game from the drawer. They then insert it into the case.

I think the seller must have bought a lot of the games from GameStop with one of their 4 for $20 deals and then listed them on eBay for Mystic to buy. I legit do not think the seller actually needed to “sell his collection for bills, etc”. I love these videos so keep them coming but I think Mystic got sold on a lie, I would like to see the amount they are worth to what was paid.

Those price charting prices are very generous. I just checked God of War 3 remastered for example, and it’s selling on eBay for $15 complete in box, but that’s with free shipping. When you subtract eBay fees and shipping, you’d be lucky to walk away from that transaction having made $9. A loose copy is certainly not fetching you $11.42.
Gamestop employee here, its not really common practice. Literally were lazy sometimes, also we have so many of those sleeves they take up so much room so we dont care if we just give them away

Gamestop rarely Updates its prices. Some $2-5 games are like 20 on other places by now. While their $30 3ds games are more like $10
They only Update once they realy realize a pricechange.. like all gamecube games by now

So, yellow sleeves in the cases are for a couple reasons:
1. An employee was just lazy and when the customer bought the game, they didnt take it out of the sleeve, but just put the disc and sleeve into the case.
2. They bought it online and either the store employee (again being lazy) shipped it like that, or the warehouse shipped the game like that.
For the white sleeves:
Those were gut copies (when you buy a new game thats not new as its their last copy). They put the new game disc in a white sleeve (white for new games, yellow for used) and put any inserts that were in the case into that white sleeve, and put the empty case up on the wall for display. Likely the game case was either stolen, or it was another lazy employee.
I’m actually kinda thankful the GameStop in my city isn’t trash. Everyone that works there actually cares for games lmao

I've started picking up some ps3 games on ebay, and browsing local listing apps. Some good deals out there, especially locally in my area. People have put up some bundles of 25+ ps3 games for anywhere from 75 to 100$ (with minimal sports games).
Former Shift lead or SGA from GameStop. If we get a new game, one copy has to be gutted so we can put the box on the store floor. We’ll take the game and codes and put them in sleeve and keep it in the drawers with the other sealed new games. That gutted copy will be sold last usually. And if you have an issue with the gutted copy we used to give a 10% shopworn discount.
As for used games, yellow sleeve, just sitting in a case. Usually we would have to send out games in package to other stores or the warehouse. We’d grab the case, just put the sleeved game in there, and send it. Because we expect the other GameStop to either put it on the shelf or in the back cases.

Yeah GameStop puts the games in those yellow packages for some reason and let me tell ya there’s always a brief moment of panic when I don’t see the disc and then the dang yellow packet falls around lol

That’s how gamestop ship used games nowadays. The disc in is an yellow sleeve inside the case. I bought 50 games last month when they did the buy 5 get 50% off on 19.99 and below.
the game in the envelopes is because they are kept behind the front desk to avoid stealing while the case is left out on the retail floor with no game in it
Not an excuse for when they put the game in the case though. Those lazy bums only need 2 seconds of their lives to take it out of the sleeve & in the case

-Very good controls/gameplay
-More consistent elements of horror than other games in the series from the same era (5, 6, Revelations). Environments scare the shit out of me
-Revelations felt a lot less strong as a narrative experience than Revelations 2 IMO.
-I think the level of fan service is where a spin off RE game should be. Love playing as Barry and Claire.
-I’m one of those people that actually likes Moira (personality wise and come on hitting stuff with the crowbar is golden)
-THE FINAL BOSS FIGHT OF EACH CAMPAIGN
honestly anyone who played it episodically when it came out should revisit it. It gives me modern Code Veronica vibes but it’s shorter and less wild. Very memorable moments throughout with soaring high points. If they released a version without long loading times/ having to select between chapters, people I think would appreciate what’s there a whole lot more.

Mystic I had ordered a NEW copy of god of war from gamestop, this was 2 years ago ish, and they sent me an unwrapped god of war case, with the game inside a sleeve, and the sleeve had the sticker on it labeled as “NEW”

So I used to work at a gamestop and it was common practice to put the codes in the sleeves for new copies of games so they weren’t left in the cases used as display cases for anyone to find and use. Gamestop just takes one copy of a game stores the disc in a sleeve slaps a sticker on the case and puts it on the shelf.
I got a killer deal recently at GameStop this year bought 206 ps4 games all at once from 6 different locations off the spring sale recently when every 5 games was 50$ saving 50$ then hit there last sale before that buy two get two then hit the Black Friday sale and 2 sales before that I was able to acquire almost 500 ps4 games 1 year total Collection all CIB rare titles included I spent maybe around 1200 at most saved around 2000-2500 dollars factoring in rare titles I utilized prices off various sites then mixed matched off the more value only when pairing with the deal the reason I have all my games CIB was going to other locations bringing all my generic cases and swapping out at different GameStop locations allows this with either receipt or sticker keep up the good content man just wanted to give some good ideas what helped me build a massive ps4 collection for the low cost all CIB stay happy collecting :)

You got it. Game stop stores their used discs separately from the cases. When they are crowded. they just don't take the time to put the disc out from the paper sleeve.

That plastic sleeve is what they keep the discs in until you buy the game. The empty case goes on the wall for customers to look at. All the discs are in a drawer.
Elder Scrolls Online is not a game with a monthly fee you can play the chapters you own as long as you want for free. But it offers an optional fee that gives you access to all the chapters and dlc in the game and some other perks on the side.
Honestly i've been watching your videos for a long time, I love the random lots and when you add a new system to the collection! A pick ups video would be cool but pleaseeee keep around the random lots lol
the paper case is normal at gamestop, but the codes in the paper case that is something my local gamestops don't do.

I work at an ebgames in canada, we do leave disks in the paper sleeve and always take them out on sale. Unless a customer calls to put something on hold we either take the disk out and leave the paper sleeve inside or just leave the disk in the sleeve and in the case, just incase people dont come pick it up, so sometimes it gets sold with out us thinking of the sleeve.
