- Late night eBay shopping will eventually lead to a purchase like this, where I finally found two new sellers offering random PS4 and PS3 games. Naturally, I bought 25 games each. So for this one we've got 50 games total costing nearly $500 after taxes and shipping. So it's time to live vicariously through me yet again, where we unbox some completely random games and see if their values hold up to the price paid. After that, I remove all the stickers and throw the Greatest Hit cases into an active volcano! (I did not film that however, sorry).

The PS3 lot, while most of those aren't my jam, was fairly good quality.
The PS4 lot was like opening a Pokemon card pack and getting two commons and the rest being energy cards

8:09 Just so you know, that copy of Motorstorm has 2 manuals because it is the Canadian version. Games would come with both English and French Manuals back then.
That seems like such a waste of paper when they coulda did what most manuals do and have one side english the other side some other languages

I don’t think that would be fair. If the games are just listed as a mystery bundle or at least not specific about what genre of games you’ll receive then how can you complain?

Justifying scamming someone with "well they never told you that they wouldn't scam you" isn't how people should conduct themselves. I would never personally buy a "mystery" anything precisely because it's well known that the contents will be junk. They wouldn't hide them if they were worth having.
@@mydogeatspuke that’s common sense to believe a mystery item or bundle will be crappy. The thing is you can’t call it a scam, it’s a gamble not a scam. A scam would be they knowing lied about what you’d receive and won’t help you once you realise you’ve been scammed.
@@Alexander_l322 nah, the buyer takes the gamble. The seller can still absolutely be scamming the buyer. The two aren't mutually exclusive. A lie isn't necessary for something to be a scam either, nor is a lack of assistance afterwards. That's just you throwing your own perspective on it.
If you people think is not fair to leave a bad review due to it being "random", ok, cool.
Still, people can leave review and state what they got. If multiple people do this, then a trend will be revealed. So, if im about to but from this seller, and i see that must of his reviews are from people stating that they received mostly lame games, well.. I for sure aint buying from that seller.
So yeah, leave a review, it still counts and exposes the seller's trends.
I have no idea why i enjoy this kind of videos so much. Not just mystery boxes, but a collector speakinga few words about some games i may have never heard of.
The PS3 games are definitely someone's " not worth selling pile" as any game under $9.95 with free shipping doesn't really make any money. Price charting might say the value but after shipping and fees it's not worth it. These "mystery" lots always seem like people just getting rid of duds.
For steel books, I keep them on a seperate shelf. I love how they look, I just don't keep them with my games. I usually just make a base case for the games that I have steel books for so it can go on my shelf
US prices are mad! Here in UK all those PS3 games get around £3 each!!

lol agree, i was shocked by the prices he was coming out with, those games were worth around 100 UK POUND. and would be hard to get that 100 pound as if you traded in at CEX u'd get 70 tops, and it takes years selling them yourself

Not for the price mystic pays for them. He picks the highest valuation on ebay for each title when in fact you can get these games for far less
100%! I love these style videos (watch each one!), but I really hate how he keeps a tally going of $$ value fro the crap he doesn't want or wouldn't have bought. If you get trash you dont want, dont count those games. Put them in a trash pile!
A guy i watch gets this retro game box each month, you get 4 random games a month and you are supposed to be able to click and tell them what types of games not to include, but he still gets sent stuff for consoles he doesn't even have; and hes like "well this Famicom game is worth a bit I guess". And then the next game has the label falling off and its covered in dirt. Like NO, they sent you a game you cant play and a game you'd never in 100 years buy, that means 50% of your box is worthless! You arent a reality show on cable, this isn't storage wars. Don't add value to stuff you dont want ha-ha Stop buying the retro box!
At the end if Ryan gets 3 games he genuinely wants, add those up. "i spent $500 and got $65 in games I want" is a much better indicator than when these style videos do now just adding each game to the grand total.

I'd straight up pitch the sports games in the dumpster because that's all they're good for. I would however keep their cases as spares for damaged ones.

As soon as you mentioned the Persona dancing game I looked at my own shelf and it still sticks out like a sore thumb. You would think I would've gotten used to it by now but nope. That and Yakuza Kiwami annoy me because of its steelbook pack in instead of a normal case. Anyways, love these videos and the rest of your content and hope to see more soon.
Yeah if i ever get Yakuza Kiwami it will be the regular version (glad it exists), i really don't like that steelbook lol
I dislike those older PC games where they have these large rectangular cardboard boxes with a jewel case and the manual, I much prefer the larger plastic PC cases.
Yakuza 4 and 6 also had a steelbook release

I was a little disappointed that you didn’t check inside the case of all the sports games on camera because of the first few you checked one or two of them had 2 games inside with one of them being a non sports game! I wonder If any of the other sports games had a second disc inside the case?

The fact that Legendary is in there is crazy. I remember getting a game informer with that as the cover game and I was so excited. That game is kind of bad but the concept was dope.
It got a cool Janitor that will clean the floor no matter the shit going on arround him though.

I really enjoy these " random box" videos. The surprises, disappointment and obsession😂. I love a good surprise like opening those blind box figures or trading cards and getting those special or rares.....makes your day. I got a descent collection of ps1-4 games as well switch....but only games i would play. Having stacks or boxes of games i donot like ex: "sports" would give me anxiety on wtf to do with all these😂

I've been lucky at a few yard sales lately. Both times I saw a big tub of games marked $3 or $4 a game and I just buy the tub then check it out in the car or at home its a surprise what the majority titles are. If it's cheap enough it can be worth a roll of the dice but I've never bought online mystery boxes. Good content as always Ryan 👍🍻

If you want another Vita eBay sellers from Japan have plenty and the original box . Plus you have different colors to choose from as the rest of the world got only the black vita

Completely agree with the boxes. I like all my boxes to be the same size. We have sonic mania for switch and it comes in an oversized PS4 sized box. Drives me nuts on the shelf next to the other Switch games.

for me in terms of original print vs game of the year it depends on the game. i bought the regular horizon zero dawn because i thought the box art looked way better than the complete edition. but right now im playing bloodborne and when i get a physical copy i would rather have the game of the year because again i prefer the art and actually want to play the dlc

You got two manuals for Motorstorm because that was a french canadian specific copy. Some games released in French canada come like that. Check the ratings on the manuals and you see the difference and the second manual will be mostly french.
We like ebay lots videos but I would also enjoy a collection update and a "vlog" of you going to shops and grabbing some more games
Jesus "Legendary" , i remember when trailers and stuff dropped for this game i was so exited , but when it came out it was bug infested , can't remember if its the PS version or 360 version that had a bug that got you stuck in a level with werewolves and you just couldn't leave that area.

the red cases are so cool never had a ps3 to get them but ive never gotten one for the ps4 i mainly just get exclusives on it and when i do i normally get them day one so i didnt wait for red cases and the few used ones ive gotten from gamestop have all come in the original blue cases. Id love to go back and get all the red cases but that gets expensive quick for games i already own
I’m actually playing that Santa game for the platinum right now, I’ll be finishing it on Christmas Day. The game is not good. It’s a mobile game that was just put onto console for some reason. And you know mobile games have a ton of filler, 720 levels that are basically all the same. Most of the time when you’re playing you’re just waiting for a hint to recharge because those let you clear levels without failing and are actually necessary in some situations as console just can’t go fast enough.
Regarding Steelbooks or cases, i love them. For me they are they are one of the most important things i look for in a collectors edition, mostly for the art, since it is often more beatiful than the standard boxart as artist can often go all out on them, like the Steelcase of FFXV, which had Yoshitaka Amaon artwork on it.
As they are usually included in CE's they are meant to put in a display case together with the rest of the goodies and put the normal case with the discs on your shelf, though i don't do this with every game, like Yakuza Kiwami 2 or Persona 5 Royal since both came in a Steelbook.
I don't go out of my way to buy them for every game that has one, mind you. You can sometimes get them seperatly on Amazon for a select few games, but if i don't plan to play the game i don't see the reason to get it. And even then the risk that the case gets damaged in shipping which i've seen happen too often sadly, is too great. But still, i get disappointed everytime when an LE or CE doesn't include a Steelbook. Looking at you Trails of Could Steel IV :(
PS: Your obsession with not wanting to put then on a shelf beside a regular case is indeed weird, since not every spine looks the same to begin with, except for the console logo, which granted most steelcases are missing - but that's where the sleeves come in - and even that changed over time on PS3 iirc.

Nice Mags, I enjoy going thru my gaming news oldies once in a while. I believe the value of game manuals & such depends on the game & what it originally came with(such as a thick, legit info-filled manual, maybe a demo disc or a Map/poster that may have come with). I realize that most games come with nothing but the disc nowadays, which I haves to admit is a bummer to hobbyist collectors. Idk about everyone else, but to me there's something special about opening a game case not expecting it but occasionally would be surprised by some awesome concept art booklet or a poster. I miss those promo days, where it just felt like some devs cared more about the physical goods aspect of gaming. Unfortunately now it's all about micro loot-boxes & "dlc items". Sorry for the rant & thanks for the unboxing vids.

I dont think F1 was ever worth $150, but I remember that it was fairly expensive for a while. That sticker could have been a markup during that time.
Or, and i have no proof of this, it was sold in a different currency. Because it is the pegi rating it could have been sold in europe, for example 150.00 czech crown would be around 6 euro. Or 30 euro in polish currency.
No evidence for this just interesting to think about.

Assassin's creed 1 almost turned me off of the entire franchise as well, but my friend basically wouldn't stop bugging me until I tried AC2, like 6 months after it came out and I loved it
Lucky for me I played 2 before 1 so I knew what I was in for after the first one.
I was on the AC hype train, I was so let down when it first came out.

to add to the steelbook tangent a little, the steelbook for tekken tag tournament 2 is for whatever reason as tall as a dvd case so it sticks out inbetween normal ps3 games and that's always annoyed me a little bit
I absolutely understand your dislike for Assassin's Creed due to the first game. But honestly, get the Ezio trilogy. It'll be a little dated compared to the newer games, but Assassin's Creed 2 was considered one of the greatest step ups a sequel could be.
I'm with Mystic on the AC series, i've never been a fan of it as the storyline just never grabbed me except for the future stuff(which naturally they got rid of)my main issue the disconnect there is between me and the main character as since you're playing someone else who is reliving past events through virtual reality, it feels like nothing you do really matters much and makes it hard for me to really give a shit about anyone or anything.
