I’ve made it my mission to learn the medicinal properties of plants, especially the UK ones(where I live). With the future looking very uncertain and a possible system breakdown on the horizon, I’d like to use my knowledge to help people when help can’t be found elsewhere.
Also I really appreciate your videos, great content and really thorough descriptions. I’ve learnt a lot through watching your channel :) thanks very much for posting🙏

Hey dude... Simply thank you so much!!!! I have watched all of this series and waiting for the next episode to come out. I am now 3 videos in (April) and re-watching in detail while taking note. I am 32 years old and haven't made notes since Uni lmao.
I am going to put this on every video along liking for the algorithm 🤣.
I have some Mugwort and Lavender drying out and just made the wild garlic butter.

Plantain broadleaf young flower heads and leaves taste mushroomy as I've been told this is because they are from the same fungal family...I can say now to everyone they are fantastic for cuts stings and bites !!!! It's from these guys at Wildfood UK after purchasing their book I learnt that The Dock leaf is in fact a placebo compared with rubbing plantain on nettle rash... personally I now like the tingling associated with nettle formic acid sensation knowing Plantain will cure but also the fact Nettle is good for the circulation 😁😁😁😉😉

There's a huge bed of mahonia in a carpark near me. It's full if fruit. It stands over 6 foot tall. There are several wild cherry trees 200 yards from the mahonia in a small park which also had wild raspberries and wild blackberries last year.

I used to slightly dislike mahonia for its spiky nature and lack of visual appeal (to me), but it's grown on me over the years and I do like the flowers. Now that I know it actually produces edbile fruit I'm warming to it all the more!

I've got a bit of plantain in my veg patch that I'm letting grow, I might add a leaf or two to breakfast tomorrow. Some sprang up last year too, but I felt obliged to clear it. This time I've been given carte blanche with the running of the veg patch, so I think I will allow my little weed :) and I'm doing the same with shepherd's purse which has reappeared.

Do ribwort plantains go really bitter once they're slightly past their best? The ones in my garden started flowering several weeks ago, I just found out they're edible (and that they're not a type of grass, I tried them both raw and cooked, and they're not good. Maybe they would've been lovely a few weeks ago? Or does it just take a while for my palate to adjust to new foods that are significantly different from anything I've had before?
Never mind taste. The texture is not good. It's tough and hairy. I feel like I'm chewing on a rat's tail. I know I have sensory issues, but I didn't realise some people tolerate textures THAT bad. I don't think I'm likely to try these again.

I think we have pineapple weed in the US as well. It might have been an inadvertent import, like plantain. I've always enjoyed the scent but didn't know it was usable. I'll double-check, but thanks! I wonder if the blossoms could be pickled?

    • @UKWILDCRAFTS
