Thank you for this video. I am part of a new plant church- looking into IEMs. We just purchased the midas 32 so I know this would work well with it. A couple questions as I am BRAND new into this: 1. How many of these DP48's would I need to purchase? 1 for every 2 worship team members on platform? 2. IS the only way to adjust settings on the actual console itself, or is there an app that users download to adjust settings as well?
You could use one for 2 members but yes the only way to make adjustments is on the DP48 if you use a mix bus from your console you can use the app to adjust those. But the dl 48 is hardware based
Great video. I have a dp48 paired with my Midas M32. Having 2 issues. 1) when I load the names.cvs file to get group names in, all channel names come across correctly except channel 1. Not sure if it’s a bug or what’s wrong. Not sure if you encountered this bug/issue and resolved it. 2) my dp48 only syncs (green light) if it is chosen as the master clock on the M32. Not sure why. I have M32, 2 AES50 stage boxes and the DP48 all at 48sample rate. I’d prefer for the mixer to be the clock master. Any thoughts? Encountered this issue?
I have not encountered any issues with channel one not showing correct names as far as synch goes I ha e not messed with the master clock at all. I am running mine off of the AES 50 B port and have had no issues this far. Make sure all your firmware on the DP48 is up to date that was the first issue I had I had a unit that came straight from the factory and it was still a firmware version behind.
Thanks for your reply. I got the naming issue figured out. Fixed the syncing issue as well. My biggest issue now is that the DP48 will not transfer individual channel names (in the assign menu) when I’m connected via AES50 port on Midas DL16 or Behringer SD16.
Nice video! I wonder if it's possible to play multiple tracks from the SD card at once (like sending a click track and backing tracks to MIX A, but just the backing tracks to MIX B). Thank you in advance!
Very interesting features on the DP48. But regarding the question: Do the two users (Mix A / B) have to share the SAME 12 mixes? Actually they don't. For example if you have a drummer on Mix A she could put Group 1 Drums, Group 2 Guitar, Group 3 Bass, Group 4 Vocals. On Mix B the bass player Group 1 Bass, Group 2 Vocals, Group 3 Guitar, Group 4 Drums. Enable the Mixer Mode Dual and that's what you'll get.
Michael Ivey I do have dual mix mode enabled and I see no way of selecting different groups for different users. On the same DP 48 . Perhaps you could make a video demonstrating this feature.
Actually Vincent I can't show you that feature. Considering after going back to the DP48 this time using two pairs of headphones simultaneously I found that selecting what channels go into a group stays the same as the channels selected whether Mix A or Mix B is selected. Therefore I stand corrected. Note: Next time when trying a brand new product that doesn't have clear instructions as to what "Dual" is don't assume it means "Dual Mono" as we know it. That's what I did.
Michael Ivey no problem thanks for trying I got excited thinking I might have missed something. Although there is a mono output if you need it. On each mix
Thank you so much for the info. It really help me a lot. Question can you assign channel 1 kick channel 2 snare. Individual channel for each instrument. Instead of doing groups channel? Let me know thx.
Thanks! Question: Do the two users (Mix A / B) have to share the SAME 12 mixes? For Example if I have a Lead vocal on A and a Lead Guitarist on B - can the Lead vocal put all the guitars into one group on one mix, while Lead Guitar does not, and rather combines all BGV's to one mix? TL;DR - are they forced to share the same 12 group assignments?
Andreas Haukas yes that is correct you share the same group assignments, as well as the same levels within the group. I found the best way to do it of Sharing the DP 48 is to group things together to which you both agree on for instance drums and tracks. Each mix has its own group volume but not group assignments but multiple DP48’s do not have to have the same groupings.
I've been a PM16 user, and I got this mixer just as Covid hit so I haven't had a chance to get together with my guys and run this thing down yet. Would it work for me to use my PM16 on the next gig so I have a good mix, but record the show on the DP48 at the same time? The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to know it it's possible to listen to the recording at home and setup my Groups, EQs, Reverb, etc form the SD recording so it's ready for the next show? Once I've recorded a show, can I setup any of my channels and groups ahead of time just having the power on, or do I need to be connected to my X-32 Rack? Great video. Learned a lot!
Jeffrey McDonald it’s hard to day as to which one to use but I will try and answer your questions as best I can. As far as recording yes you can listen back to the recording anywhere it’s a simple wav file yes you will need to be connected to the x32 to set channel levels eq etc.. think of it as another stage box with many more features. I would definitely say give yourself time to set levels, group channels etc. before you use it in a live scenario I spent about a day with it in my studio before I played my first gig with it and even then I still had to change some things that made it a little nicer. Hope that helps
@@ennis437 I got it plugged in yesterday at a gig, and it gave ,e channels and levels, but no names on the channels. I believe I'm going to have to do a firmware update to the X-32 Rack. I did one a few months back, but I'll have to check what the new one is. Also, Is it necessary to have the power hooked up if I'm the first one in line on the thereon cable. I assumed it would be like the PM16s, but I had to plug it in. We have a disco unit for the PM-16s, but not for the DP48s, so I thought maybe there was some sort of power switch on the Rack unit?
Is there a way to playback a recorded session on the M32 so that it could be heard in the DP48 boxes? Meaning, we recorded one of our sessions in multitrack with the Midas M32, as we playback this recording in the M32, is there a way to also listen to the individual channels inside the DP48 boxes as if it was a live session?
Great review but why rams those buttons that hard? You can normal push the buttons and you're camera won't shake every time you just gently push them and more importent the buttons live longer.
I am having a heck of a time trying to label the groups. Exactly what did you do. I know you have to set up a note pad etc. then insert sd card but mine always says " Can;t Read" I have windows and mac so if you have a template that would help. I have looked everywhere and no examples. --Thanks
Brian Thompson you can label the groups in the M32 X32 then broadcast them to the DP 48. That is what I did. Just got 2 units. Neither one will record. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
the file naming is very specific first thing you need to do is format the sd card not sure what size you can use I have used 16 gig and 32 gig nothing larger then that. after that you have to create a .csv file called names it literally has to be called names and has to be a .csv file I created the spreadsheet in numbers on my Mac then exported as a .csv file called names.csv and all my names where correct.
I would say its at least as good but I own both the P16 and the DP48 and did not notice really any diffrerence in the audio quality. the DP 48 is much more flexible obviously.
Thanks for the video! One thing I was wondering is if I have it in single mode, does the same mix go out of A & B? I would like to send a feed and use my headphones. Thanks.
@@ennis437 Thanks. My church bought this from Sweetwater to use for a livestream console. I'm not sure if this will work since it solos when I need to adjust a channel in a group.
@@tpez777 I think there are much better options for live stream purposes. For instance you can accomplish that by simply using a single bus mix from the console to mix independently for live stream or for stereo use (which I would recommend). You can use 2 bus mixes for stereo out. If you are out of bus mixes any daw connected to your console can be multitracked out and have pro level quality for much cheaper then the cost of the DP 48.
