  • Bulletproof BMW N54 Engine built
    After we discovered the rod bearings where worn and scratched the crank. We decided with the client to build a forged engine to make it more bulletproof then the original assembly.
    We added callico rod bearings, wiseco boost line rods, JE HD series pistons, crank hub fix, new oil pump, ...

    I am sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting for part two of your series. I will be sharing your Chanel here in Australia with all my friends.
    Thank you for taking the time to make such a great video, I am so glad that you have this client that has the budget to pay the right man to do the best job.
    I myself have been obsessed with BMWs ever since 5 years old when I went for my first ride in my uncles Z3 and now have an E28 and an E90 335i - there have been a few really good videos online in regards to building the N54, but none have been anywhere near the quality of yours, thank you for filming the whole process and not cutting it short.
    I can not wait for part two,
    Thank you kindly.

    what app or website is that on the tablet in the back? would feel confident about doing most the work myself if i had a torque spec sheet and parts list like that . great video

      Thanks for the comment
      it's actually a BMW paid subscription service (BMW AIR), which has all the same technical manuals as BMW ISTA diagnostics has, so u can use both, but ISTA doesn't run on android so that's why i used the online version in this case.
      Part list is something you have to dive in the parts catalogue and decide which parts you need.

    What is your bearing spec? Did you have the mains machined or crank turned? Are you running your bearings tight or loose? What ring gap are you using?

    Can i ask how get into engine building and building high performance cars? Im going to school for engineering and its only my first year so i have a lot of choice right now of which direction i can go but i dont know what i need to persuit to get into this stuff. This is a skill i have wanted to develop but just have no one i know that i can ask to guide myself. Hopefully you see this and great video i cant wait to see more content!

      Thanks
      About the question, sure, it's a hard world. In this business there are not many people that want to share there knowledge, but what i personally did is i did a lot of volonteer technical assistance for some rally/race teams, which gets you bit closer to the subject and helps you with some extra experience. If you use your eyes you can allready learn a lot by only looking to how some factory race cars are assembled/build. For the rest you just have to start doing it and need some dedication to the subject, but be aware that it will not be straight forward. There will be a moment that something wil break but anyone that's fair, and active in this business, will tell you that you're not the only one. There are some courses online where you can learn some fundamentals, like for example hp academy, but be aware that this are only guidelines and they won't teach you anything.

    Do you not need the BMW special alignment tool for the bedplate / girdle ? I remember that being talked about some years ago ?

    • @svrautosport1632
      @svrautosport1632  2 года назад +2

      No there are dowel pin´s to center the bedplate, bud you have to make sure everything is super clean before you assemble the two parts and you check clearances before final mounting

    How much this work will cost someone if will bring a engine to you. Roughly price please ? I'm curious how much money I have to save .

    • @svrautosport1632
      @svrautosport1632  2 года назад +2

      Honnestly it's not that easy to say, because it really depends on the condition of the engine we start with, for example this one needed a new crank, but the crank on it's own allready cost arround 1500 euro. Also the condition of the engine will decide what kind of machine/cleaning work it needs, but to say a rough number let's say between 7500-10000. But as said there are many factors that make the price, also parts pricing, as this is, at the moment of speaking, a huge problem, because price fluctuate a lot now these days, due to the shortage of core materials.

    • @svrautosport1632
      @svrautosport1632  2 года назад +1

      Sure. There are injection nozzles on the side of the block, you need to use BMW 83 19 0 439 030 which is actually locite 193140
