A Manitoba Facebook group that helps women discover whether the men they're dating are seeing other women has helped save some from abusive and deceptive relationships, its founder says - but one lawyer warns posting in it could also lead to legal consequences.
Are We Dating the Same Guy? Manitoba is a private women-only Facebook group where people post photos and other details about their partners or dating prospects to solicit feedback from the collective.
"Sometimes it will be positive information [like], 'Oh, he's a great guy,' but sometimes it will be a few women saying similar negative stories," said Brittany Isfeld, the creator of the group, which has separate regional versions across Canada and abroad.
"It gives that woman the option…. Oftentimes, she'll decide not to go through with that."
Isfeld said she started the group after having a similar experience. While she knew there was already a Winnipeg group, the Gimli, Man., woman said she sensed a need for a collective for women across the province.

These groups do nothing but slander, stalk and harass men. And for the illiterate: the definition of stalking is to harass or persecute (someone) with unwanted and obsessive attention

I'm assuming women use it to see if their top 4% looking guy they are interested in is loyal, and what his past is, to see if she is wasting her time.. Picky women who do this certainly are staying far away from the average looking guy

Also if there is a guy with a history of harassing and being aggressive with women on tinder, it's not the worst thing in the world for other women to know about it in his city.

If you are thinking about joining that group, you should just break up now. Because while you are trying to see is he is trustworthy, you have proven without a doubt, you aren't.
Same people that think snooping in their partner's phone is ok.

How are these legal? And can Facebook be held accountable? We did it with revenge porn websites and defamation. Serious question.

Facebook are complete scum. A guy had a Facebook page where he was posting a load of rants about paedophiles & sex offenders, he took a photo of my friend on I on the street & started posting rants about us, without even knowing who we are. The posts were shared a lot around the city where I live. Later on I messaged him that I was going to take legal action & he sent me a load of insane & abusive messages. Facebook said none of this went against their community standards though & allowed the posts to be shared for several days until another friend of mine reported it as pornography, which caused it to be taken down automatically.
A few weeks ago I reported messages where a guy was making comments about another guy's appearance & saying he looked like he was going to go shoot up a school, but Facebook said that doesn't go against their community standards either.

Women - Pay attention to scare tactics ^ i.e. intimidation & dog whistling. There’s a lot of legal jargon and not a lot of facts (think about what you know to be true about the group and what the lawyer is erroneously and carelessly alleging (i.e. the posting of full names is not allowed, for one), which directly undermines the argument the lawyer is trying to make and perhaps even reveals a thinly veiled air of misogyny on his own part. Further deconstructing his credibility, he said there is active litigation everywhere on this - where? What’s the name of the suit? Why didn’t he reveal that? … What do you think?
The fact of the matter is free speech is protected in our society. Women are protected in our society and this group is a representation of those two American ideals.
This group was created to make place for victims of abuse to feel SAFE to tell their stories and warn other women. Women are members of a protected class due to the decades of discrimination, oppression, abuse and harassment at the hands of men and this isn’t disputed. *Anyone* trying to shake the bottom of that latter, and who wishes to undermine that serves to silence and disempower women. Don’t fall for it.
Healthy men and leaders in our communities are all for giving women safe places to not only protect themselves but protect other women. It makes our society a healthier, safer place in general.
And to be clear - Libel is an extraordinarily high bar. You have to prove the person acted with malice (extremely high bar!) that their statements were false, AND that they knew them to be false at the time they made them. This is not the energy of the group and this does not go on in the group, despite what men who are threatened by women telling their truth are saying.
If a woman believes something to be true, speaks out against it, tells her story or reveals her own abuse, she has every right under the sun and the GD constitution to say so without impunity and without threats from those who benefited for so long acting without accountability.

I'm sure 95%+ of posts are real experiences that women have with men and telling the 100% truth of how they felt and what happened etc.. It's small percent of women who lie, or who greatly fabricate their experiences that is obviously the big issue. The other issue I assume some women just post up ugly guys tinder accounts to make fun of them which is being super toxic and hateful for 0 reason. Although admittedly both men and women do this on reddit tinder and wherever else, so it's not as big of deal as others may say it is.
If a man is legit being super weird, harassing and acting like a stalker, I am not opposed to other women in the city knowing about it, so I can see how these groups are meant to protect women

These groups should be a federal crime and no I’m not joking. Imagine someone posting a picture of you on a page you have no access to unless you’re a woman and are making every other woman in the world turn against you so that you die old lonely and depressed because some stupid psycho broad was mad that you didn’t want to date her. Nobody deserves that shit. The administrator who is in charge of the group should be charged with a federal hate crime and the crime should be taken seriously. People don’t understand a guy can do that to a woman and it’ll have no effect on her if she’s hot, it’ll just give her more candidates to come knocking on her door to take her out but the min a woman does that shit to a guy his life is done he’ll forever be labeled a creep an abuser or whatever

The lawyer may be biased. Just for fairness, you should ask a woman lawyer.
