- Zuko and Mai might be an endgame relationship, but Zuko's date with Jin in The Tales of Ba Sing Se was seriously precious. While The Tale of Zuko may not have been as tearbending-ly heartbreaking as The Tale of Iroh, the end of Zuko and Jin's date really does cut deep.

@@june9914None of that's Zuko's fault though and Jin obviously recognized that he was a firebender and didn't blame him for anything. Plus they don't even talk about the war in Ba Sing Se. People LOVE Zuko post war because he does so much to repair the damage caused by the 100 year war. That wouldn't really be an obstacle to their relationship.
@@june9914 Actually, when you think about it there story would be similar to Romeo and Juliet or better yet the story or Omashu(Oma and Shu lovers). Those were two people who couldn't be together because they were at war with each other, but they still found a way.

Can we appreciate the moment of technique while zuko was fire banding there. How hard it is to lighten up all of the lamps so accurately fast without burning them down. It's implied zuko' s firebanding and angriness within became more peaceful according the Basin Se lifestyle. What a gorgeous addition to his character
omg I’m so glad I’m not the only one who appreciates his meticulous technique here 🤩 I agree with you on the influence Basin Se must have had on him. If he stayed longer I believed this place would have also given him lots of peace.
This was the first time Zuko showed finesse in his bending and the fact he was doing it for Jin was really sweet.

This is so heartwarming. I would have preferred Zuko to be with Jin. Mai was so boring and she never had a personality. Jin was so sweet and quirky.

She actually did have a personality, her character development in the relationship grows as the goes on and on. You can how she becomes more emotional, affectionate, kind, caring,etc

This show managed to set up and create a beautiful love story in the span of 5 minutes. It’s like a short film.
I know Iroh's tale is much beloved, and is indeed extremely well done, but Zuko's is the one I am most fond of.

Interesting theory floating around that Iroh purposefully did Zuko’s hair horribly so that Jin would ruffle it and give Zuko the first act of affection he’d received in years from anyone but himself.
I support this theory.
That sounds like just the kind of thing Iroh would do. He’s a little prankster. I also don’t believe for a second he didn’t know that the lotus tile was in his sleeve the whole time. Everything he does has a purpose, even if it seems silly.

As both honestly. Zutara may not be canon, but it has a lot of fanfics, a whole week, fansongs, animatic and A LOT of fanart. Jinko deserves better
I had a fan fiction idea where Uncle Iroh finds Jin while liberating Ba Sing Se, and after explaining the whole situation and their true identities, brings her back to see Zuko.
Zuko would be mortified and embarrassed at first and apologize for lying to her, but she would say she understood and that he could make it up to her by taking her on a proper date this time.
Zuko asks why she would still want to do that after how the last one ended, and she says she felt something with him she has never felt with anyone else. Zuko would admit he felt the same, and after they kiss again, he agrees to go on another date with her.
Jin knew Zuko was from the Fire Nation from the start, but didn't care. You cannot convince me otherwise!
Jin only knew Zuko as "Lee" but she didn't know the real "Zuko".
Maybe not from the very start, but when the fountain was magically lit up within a few seconds, she definitely knew by then.
I like how Jin didn’t care about Zuko’s bad behavior. She must have seen what’s going on in him and wanted to help him solve his inner conflict.

Mai is the worst written character in the original series. I’m willing to go that far at this point. Each time I rewatch the series, I’m reminded of how boring and flat she is. Jin was like a breath of fresh air. Zuko needed more of that in his life, not Mai’s “whatever” energy.

@@tierefuerimmer9635Problem is that the grandma's name is Yin, not Jin, although the design is similar. My theory is the writers originally wanted to make her Jin, but changed it in order to not confirm or deny anything. Similar case with Izumi - her name means fountain, and both Jin and Mai had moments with Zuko at a fountain therefore not confirming or denying which one is her mother.

Not really. Their relationship was extremely one sided.
@@averymerrickBrosephine. Katara was looking down at Aang with goo goo eyes on episode one. She was the one who wanted to kiss him in the cave of two lovers. That whole dancing scene in the headband episode just exudes chemistry, and you can see how enthralled Katara was by Aang. Those are all real moments.
People pair Zuko and Katara for two reasons:
1. He’s more conventionally attractive than Aang
2. The Fire and Water symbolism.
While ignoring that they never actually showed interest in each other. When it comes to substance, there is nothing there, nothing like with Aang/Katara. I’m sorry but it’s a fantasy.

She tolerated everything, his shyness, awkwardness, anger, she was excited to know him, be with him, saw past the scar into his heart … I truly believe Jin would have also accepted Zuko if she found out the truth (comics confirm it and it was obvious when he lit all the candles in seconds) it would have been hard at first , but her love would been stronger and she would accepted him
Jin could have been a great alternate wife just like Ursula was to Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2

Better than any romantic movie date
“It’s complicated.” As much of a cop out answer that usually is, in this instance, it’s true. And explaining things would be very difficult for Zuko 😭 to my knowledge, we didn’t know about him and Mei yet, so when we find out, and rewatch this scene, it brings so much context to his reaction. He likes Jin, but still has feelings for Mei, and therefore feels like it’s wrong to develop feelings for Jin. It’s… quite sad 😭 but I get it. He and Mei were technically still together, as they never called it off.
If I were Zuko, I would’ve followed my heart, but he’s still in his transition phase right now, and life as a whole is complicated for him. Had more time passed and he remained in Ba Sing Se for longer, he might have had a change of heart and actually gotten with Jin.
Of course, he’d also eventually have to tell her the truth about who he is, and that would be very difficult, given she’s from the Earth Kingdom and all…

Since it isn't clear who is Izumi's mother is (zuko's daughter, if you don't know or remember who she is). There's a chance it isn't Mai, since she broke up with zuko at one point and we never saw them together again, if i recall (unless i'm wrong). There's still a slimmer hope of chance that Jin could still be with Zuko in the end
