Every time a horn honks in Vietnam an angel gets its wings. It's a wonderful life if you can deal with imperfect beings in an imperfect world. I saw the horrors of the Vietnam War and was petrified of returning in 2015 after leaving wounded in 1968. I found it to be a different country that I learned to love for the beautiful people and their culture. I left before the lockdown in 2020 and I hope to return and see my friends again soon. Vietnam will always have a place in my heart. Cam on Vietnam.

I was there in 1967-68 also, as a Marine. You and I had a different perspective then, and now we are old warriors looking back at an epic time of pain and suffering, and all I can say is all wars are terrible, and I wish only the best for the Vietnamese people going forward in peace.

That's such an amazing thing to be a part of something so terrible and now something so amazing. I really do understand how you feel about Vietnam. I currently work for the Western Australian government. Good money, good perks. But I've lost sight of what's the most important. Every time I've come back from Vietnam I'm a changed man for the better. It doesn't take me long to get bitter and twisted when I'm back in Australia.

The Vietnamese are wonderful people once you get to know them. One piece of advice though. Avoid the main tourism places. The rip offs there are getting as bad as in Thailand, especially in Saigon and Hoi An. Come and explore Vietnam....and enjoy the friendliness, incredible openness of the Vietnamese! I have to say that I enjoyed living in the smaller towns like Trang Bang and Long Thanh more. It's not so noisy and air pollution is not such a big problem. The downside is that very few people understand English and it's a lot more "primitive" with very few shops/eateries catering for foreigners. As a whole I have to say that I was so happy in Vietnam and enjoyed every single day so much. I wish I could go back and stay forever. Love you guys!! God bless!

    3. Got used to traffic in Saigon, i drive faster then average local, but it's still some stress always.. Other cities are way better in that. Bike taxi is cheap though.
    4. Don't really see that much trash over the Vietnam.

Exactly! Euro 6 emission standards should be implemented. E-bikes are also not a solution, because the primary source of electricity in Vietnam is coal.

@@kippsguitar6539 I just looked it up. In Vietnam, 8-9,000 people (total) killed in traffic deaths each year. There are always people willing to take away other people's freedom for their own good.

Hi, Van! I live in Southern California and I have met quite a few Vietnamese people, some from Vietnam, and some who were born here. One thing I have noticed is that they speak very softly. Am I imagining this, or is it because they live here that they speak softly? By the way, I love your channel.

Been there twice since 2019 and have had 2 more cancelled trips in 2020, I love Vietnam and prefer going there instead of going to touristy places in my country (Philippines) as Vietnam is more budget-friendly! Can't wait to go back.

I love VN but agree with no.1... the noise is about the only thing that I struggled with... as I got older I do value and love my peace and quiet.. so after 2yrs of stuck at home in UK in peace and quiet I have got used to the silence so its gonna be interesting to see how much I can take when I can eventually come back to VN... (then again I did grow up in London which isnt exactly quiet! maybe its just an age thing now) everything else I just accept as it is the way it is... love it or leave it really... at the moment or future will be just half of the yr at most and can come back home to my peace and quiet when I need it... but right now I can't wait to come back to that amazing country I fell in love with...

I enjoyed your video and agree with you. Yes there is no perfect country. Every country has its own problems and it is natural since the human being isn't perfect. The important things is trying to make it a better way. That's what we should do. I'm not Vietnamese but I truly believe Vietnam has tremendous potentials and I think the many problems you said would be better

  • @tommyt1785

Step 1: Don't go to noisy bars, don't live near a main road.
Step 2: Don't need to stand in line, just get a takeaway.
Step 3: Don't drive on the roads at busy times like rush hour.
Step 4: Frequent the nicer areas, less trash.
Step 5: Buy an air purifier for your home.
    Easy!

Trash seems to be a total non-issue here in Canada. Our culture frowns on littering so much that there's almost none. It was a shock to me when I visited the United States and saw how the trash was *Everywhere* on the ground.

The Philippines are similar in some ways. They burn trash for one. Lots of motorbikes, really terrible traffic. They have a lot of tiny houses made of bamboo and palm frons in the rural areas they call province. Many of those houses have no electricity or inside running water. They use a bucket of water to bathe or wash clothes. Also outside toilets they call a comfort room or just CR. Some of their food is disgusting, such as balut. Balut is a duck egg with a little fuzzy duck inside, dead of course. It tastes terrible and when I saw the dead duckling I felt ill the rest of the day. Dry fish also called stinky fish is terrible too. But when you grow up with it, it tastes great. How was your Christmas? Happy New Year my dear. 🌹🌹🌹
