Great video! The interview with the reinactors was the most informative piece of history I’ve ever heard regarding Tombstone and the gun battle. I have already subscribed to your channel and will most definitely be visiting Tombstone on my next trip through Arizona!
Dave, this interview with the actors is stellar as all have an independent interest in the hows and whys of this incredible slice of history. Myself, I have studied this event for now 51 years and DO believe that Doc knew he was near the end of his rope and he loathed the Clinton’s. Coupled with his relationship with the Earp’s was one bad mix=“something” was goin down that day! Great work!

I lived in Douglas, Arizona in the 50's and 60's and would regularly pass through Tombstone. In fact, my 8th Grade graduation dinner was at a restaurant on the same block as the OK Corral's front entrance. I'm sure there were still some people around back then that had known the Earp Brothers personally. Last time I was there, I parked at the back entrance (where the gunfight actually took place). The gunfight site and the Tombstone Town Marshall's office are next door to each other -- I found that interesting. If it was 1881, Old VIrgil and the gang would only need to walk about 20 feet (if that) to confront the cowboys. PS, a Jewish friend of mine passed away in late 2022. When I visited the mausoleum, I came across Wyatt Earp's grave directly across the street.
In fact the parking lot for the Tombstone Town Marshall's office is less than five feet away from where Wyatt, Virgil, Morgan and Doc stood during the gunfight.
When Virgil heard the cocking of weapons and said Stop, I don't want that, he was speaking to Doc and Morgan who were determined to make a fight of it and did....

I have really enjoy them because I've always wanted to go there but I am one of those people who never have extra money to go anywhere or do anything. Just going to the movies is beyond my financial reach. Your videos are the closest I will ever get to see Tombstone. This one in particular has been quite fascinating to me. Learning about how the shoot out really happened and the history behind it. I am glad the actors know the history and I am grateful you and they took the time after the show talking about it. I do have one question though that maybe you can find out for me. How is it that Tombstone was kept as original as possible? I am quite sure all other towns or cities in the U.S. kept up with modern times, yet Tombstone stayed as much as it was in the 1800's. I wonder if there any descendants from some of the people that lived there in the late 1800's that would know? Would you mind trying to find out as I am immensely intrigued to find out the reason. Hi Athena! We’re so glad you enjoy our videos. What I can tell you is that Tombstone received its historic designation back in the 60’s and since then it has tried to stay are authentic as possible. If you look at pics of Allen street in the 30s-50s it looks very different from what you see today. SOME of the buildings are original. In fact many of them are, but there are others that have been rebuilt, torn down, lost to fire etc. Today the historic district is preserved and hopefully will always have an old west feel to it. As for descendants, I know that the Earp’s, Clanton’s and Escapule’s are still here. There may be more but those are what I can say for sure. Dusty Escapule is the current mayor.

It still amazes me how much it still looks like the old west. By the 1950's, so much had changed yet Tombstone looks like it was stuck in time as if no one touched it and left it the way it was. Ike Clanton came looking for Doc earlier that day. Doc was rooming at Fly's boarding house. Now there the Cowboys were back at Fly's and Doc most likely as these guys said had had enough and now being with the Earps wasn't going to let the Cowboys get away. Here was his chance to eliminate them and be on the side of the law. Mission accomplished.

I love the movie Tombstone . Especially Val Kilmer playing Doc Holiday. Also the actor who played Johnny Ringo & the actors who played Curly Bill & Ike Clinton. All brilliant actors, I know Tombstone isn’t as historically accurate as The Wyatt Earp film which is a bit slow & boring? I’m in London England & I find American 🇺🇸 history fascinating 🇬🇧
While Wyatt Earp (1994) is not a perfect movie, it is much more accurate to real events than the movie Tombstone. For example, the OK Corral shootout was more accurate, Morgan and Virgil were not shot the same night, the Cowboys were not a formal gang that wore red sashes, there was no rivalry between Doc and Johnny Ringo, etc. Watch Wyatt Earp -- yes it is slow at times, but it tells a more complete and accurate story of Wyatt's life, rather than only the days leading up to the OK Corral and days after.
What I'd like to know is what really happened to Johnny Ringo??? Because I don't really believe he committed suicide... In the movie he calls out Wyatt Earp... Doc Holliday showed up and said we have some unfinished business so in the movie doc Holliday was the one that killed him... What really happened???
Holliday had one thing that aided him, hes reputation that was mostly based on lies and "peoples talk", gossip. infact not manny liked him nor hes attitude specialy when he was drunk, that he was most of the time.
The reality is that the great preponderance of evidence points toward the Earp passe drawing on and shooting first unprovoked by the Clayton party. (Witnesses from the coronor's inquiry). Furthermore, 1-2 of the Clayton party did not have guns, and only 1-4 would have been considered competent using a gun.
I would say how competent with a gun you are doesn't really matter in a fight. If you can point the weapon at someone and have the ability to pull the trigger, you are just as dangerous as anyone else.
@phillydelphia8760 think about it. A group of guys walk up to you and are very skilled with guns and you aren't... you are going to be eager to get in a gun fight for your life with them? Your answer is no, or your full of BS. It makes a huge difference. Also, the fact that 2 of them didn't have guns, it makes it a lot less likely they were looking for a gun fight. The story in the movies is BS. The Earps went after them and shot them down im cold blood unprovoked. That's what the great majority of the evidence points to.

Why was Ike Clanton there earlier that morning with a rifle looking for Doc? 4. Is there any coincidence whatsoever that Doc and Ike had a verbal disagreement the evening before? 5. While there were a few encounters between the two parties that before the fight, and a couple were actually violent, at what point did the encounter actually become fatal? 6. Who would want a fight under such circumstances only feet away from your enemies? In other words, who is the one individual who had nothing at all to lose? 7. Why did Doc Holliday obtain his own attorney separate from the Earps? And why was he not called to testify for the defense? Start from there, reread the full testimony, and watch what comes alive before your eyes.
