great video :)) as a young woman currently studying stem (biomed engineering) I loved your message you preached! and just ordered mine yesterday! can’t wait for it to come!!
With an extra gray 1x2 plate w/horizontal clip and a couple extra pieces from the set you can make a very realistic Canadarm spacewalk apparatus to service the Hubble with a minifig
"There's a starman waiting in the sky.." Hi Josh. I just ordered this set yesterday and I can't wait to build it:) Like you I'm sort of interested in space and space travel. Especially alien movies and star wars... Not to be compared with this type of space thing, but hey, that's the closest thing I will ever come to space:) But yeah, this is a really good display set:) Will look good on my shelf. Keep up the good work 👏 👍
Mine is in the mail...looking forward to this set. I have the 1989 Lego Shuttle Set, Shuttle Adventure, the Saturn V, Lunar Lander, The International Space Station, The women of NASA (Has a miniature model of Hubble) and the Razor Crest from the Mandalorian.
hahaha you made a very enjoyable, entertaining video about a very cool set that I hope to get myself. Just want to say bravo on your sense of humor. You have a great personality, so keep doing your thing! First video of yours I've caught, so I look forward to seeing more!
Hey, fun review, thanks! I too grew up with the Shuttle, and am a hardcore Shuttle geek. Could you answer a couple questions about this set? How did you get it to stand on its tail? Can you fit the Hubble model standing on its end at the rear of the payload bay? That's how it was positioned during the various servicing missions, I'd like that display option. Thanks!
It definitely won't naturally stand on its tail, but if you disconnect the vertical stabilizer, it'll balance on it's engines. It's very precarious so I wouldn't recommend that as a long-term display option. And I tested a vertically-displayed Hubble configuration and it's totally possible using the black support piece LEGO gives you. You'd just have to remove a couple pieces from the back of the Hubble to get it to stick in place. Again though, that may a slightly more precarious way to display.
It's big and it's beautiful....that is what she said! LOL.....ordered mine on the Lego site the morning it went on sale and it is on it's way. Looking forward to this one.
hey Josh. I am up to the bay doors stickers and i am having trouble pulling the 1st mirror sticker, its been a few days now and i really want to finish it. In NZ we pay $320NZD.
That's a bummer. If I remember, the stickers seemed like normal LEGO stickers, just shiny. They were definitely annoying to apply to the curved pieces though. If there's anything wrong, I know LEGO will send you a replacement sticker sheet for free.
I just bought it and I am surprised because it is huge and it is fascinating to start it from scratch, beautiful space shuttle Discovery NASA I am in love with having it in my hands 😍❤️🚀
You've somehow upped the quality of your reviews with this video! But it's a shame the low volume of views, have you considered posting them on Reddit to reddit-rect (I'll see myself out) some of the flow? And thanks for the shoutout, that made my day! But you said you wanted some negative comments in another video, so I'll try my best: Damn you Josh, I hate you a little due to this review now. I was so happily going to skip this model by clutching at the straw that is missing the extra boosters and tank, but during your whole video I didn't miss that at all. Instead I watched it whole with my mouth open at how amazing it is. And it might sound silly, but seeing someone swooshing it helped, that's an impression you don't get by statick pictures or reviews in a Lazy Susan. Now it has jumped to the top of my wanted list, and I had promissed myself not to buy more Lego vehicles, but the shuttle is part of my childhood too. Since I missed out on the VIP reward extra payload for it, I might wait until after I receive the rest of stuff I preordered and get it whith the next good GWP. Jokes aside only thing that I'd appreciate is putting the meassures in centimetres too when talking about inches for all of us folks that don't use freedom units, but that's a minor thing. Now to the stickers: In some pictures the interior of the bay doors look more like brushed aluminium. Now I'm not one to advocate for painting bricks, since that kinda goes against the ethos of building with Lego, but then again stickers aren't very Lego-like. So I might recommend using some Molotow Liquid Chrome (check it out, it's amazing. I've used it a lot for model making and even just with the pen it's super easy to use and the result is the best chrome in the market).
Hey, I scrolled back through and realized I never replied to this. Reddit tends to frown on self promotion, but I post on Twitter and Instagram when new videos go up. I'm not super concerned about the channel numbers right now, it's growing at what feels like an organic rate. As for the set, you should absolutely get it at some point, you definitely wouldn't regret it. But there's rumor of double VIP points coming this month so it may be worth waiting for. Also I think the Ulysses Probe VIP reward was delayed so maybe it'll be available by the time you get the points from this purchase... just saying.
Did you have an extra 2x1 black stud left? It goes on the underside of the nose by the landing gear. I noticed it missing in the video because I did the same thing!

I'm jealous of you having the vintage shuttle, that was a dream set growing up. Maybe someday...
I can’t wait for mine to arrive next week, and I ordered some astronaut microfigs from bricklink to just finish the set off lol
I stuck some of the microfigs from the Space Station in the Shuttle cockpit just for fun. They're a good fit.

Hey, thanks so much for the kind words, great to have you around!
this set is a 10/10 for me.

How much time you spend on this?
It's a pretty large build so I think like 4-5 hours at least
Did you have an extra 2x1 black stud left? It goes on the underside of the nose by the landing gear. I noticed it missing in the video because I did the same thing!
I just checked my extras bin and I absolutely did! I must have been in a hurry to finish at this point.
@@JoshBuildsStuff I took apart most of the nose to realize it went underneath 🙄
