Hi Beautiful Friends,
In this video I show you how to make a small chicken run for your baby chicks using PVC pipes and chicken wire. We also have made a larger version of this for our older chickens, so you can customize the size for what you need.
Using PVC pipes to make the chicken run allows it to be lightweight and portable, plus it's easy to make with just zip ties.

Noticed the adult birds had to come inspect your work ! :)
Yes, they were always interested in the chicks.
Out of the 100 or so PVC chicken coop videos I've seen, this is one of the best! Definitely in my top 5 picks. Very nice job : )
Michelle Perry thank you!! So glad you liked it. I think PVC is so fun to work with.
Interesting video
This would be great to use as a chicken tractor!
Yes!
Thank you very much for this video. I wanted to make PVC chicken run and seen many videos ...this one by far was the best and so simple and easy
You are welcome!
Amazing..I like keeping chick much
Thanks!
Very nice
Thank you!
I am new to chickens. Awesome video! I am anxious to get mine outside for a "field trip" when it's warm here. I wish I had the wonderful teenager to help me!
Carol Ehrendreich thank you! We are getting ready for another batch of chicks. Welcome to the world of chickens!! 😂
I like
It is important to have a top covering, to keep raptors out. Add a bowl of water, and place in shade in Summer ! 😊
They had a bowl of water and shade from a tree and we ended up adding a tarp to part of the top for additional shade later. We didn’t have any raptors nearby so never needed a top covering, but good idea for those who do.
Fantastic Video! Great explanation and demonstration. Simple, yet highly practicle and doable by someone is not that talented, like myslef. I do plan to use a low gauge hardware cloth to help keep preditor paws, snakes, rodents, etc out. Some of my friends have had varmints get their birds through the chickenwire. I plan to put some shadecloth on one end to give them an area out of the sun and when I put them inside, I will problaby use 12" garden stakes to temporarily hold it in place when they are in it.. Thank you so much!
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing.
Good job
Thanks!
I’ve been looking for a cheap, safe, temporary enclosure for 8 week old pullets. I’m going to use this design and modify it a little. The temp enclosure will be inside an existing chicken run but, I want to use it for a few days or so for the adult chickens and the pullets to check out each other until they get acclimated.
Perfect idea. We did this also with a later batch of chicks.
Is there wire on bottom ?
No there is no wire on the bottom. They are only there during the day. We put them in a coop at night.
Que nombre tiene esa malla y de que material es se ve muy efectiva
It’s called hardware cloth.
Se llama tela de ferretería.
Water !
Yup. They had a water container inside.
I am doing this for my 3 week olds. Just picked up the materials today. I’m doing these exact measurements. What size netting did you use and did you use chicken wire or hardware cloth ? People have told me not to use the chicken wire and go for the hardware cloth.
jenny barbosa a friend gave me this idea, and I looked it up on RUclips to see if it was a good idea. Hardware cloth is the way to go because predators can’t chew through it. That’s about all I know as a chicken beginner.
jenny barbosa I also used the three way elbows and put the frame together in less than an hour.
Jenny, I used chicken wire because this was not a permanent structure. Just a place for the little chicks to have some time during the day. Our coop has hardware cloth and that’s definitely the way to go for protection from predators.
I would have used 3 way corners also, but we wanted it to be able to be taken apart.
@@afaithfilledlife good idea. That would make adding or subtracting additional panels a lot easier 😎
No door????
No, since we put them into the coop each night. It’s just a temporary run for the day.
Those ain’t my kids she says, as she runs away heee
😂😂😂
Laura performed about 85 percent of the work, while her partner dawdled.
He’s allowed 🤣
why raise chickens if you're Vegan??? WTF?
Because 1) they were there before I was vegan, 2) they belong to one of my children, who is not vegan, and 3) they are treated very well.
I am also no longer vegan.
