If you have Rising Deluxe, there is a version of Stargazer with a 1 minute intro by Tony that is mind blowing. Why that wasn’t on the original album I’ll never know.

Tony Carey was the Glenn Hughes of Rainbow. Uber talented. Songwriter. Great player, great singer, good looking dude. The Rising lineup was the best. Although Bob Daisly is a really good rock bassist.
Great analogy with Glenn 🤘
Keeping up. You were charging on! Loved you since the album first came out. Still rocking
I've never done a deep dive on Tony. But I know I should because I like Some Tough City and I really like Planet P. The man is a triple threat. Great writer, singer and musician
We spoke about his pre-Rainbow days, post solo career, Planet P Project, his producer work and more on the full interview. If you're interested here's a link to it open.spotify.com/episode/5A5R9JBcSF4CyROdfhaOF9?si=-dN3ylDGQIiiIKGjLz6NPg
Always loved Tony!!! Great to see him in that interview.
Glad you liked the interview Frank!
I was 16 years old with my first job and car and a little freedom when his songs First Day Of Summer and A Fine Fine Day hit the airwaves. Soundtrack of my youth. So underrated. His music is still on my playlist.
Fantastic time indeed! Tony spoke about those solo hits and more on the full interview, it's on the Vintage Rock Pod podcast. If you'd like a listen you can find it here cms.megaphone.fm/channel/vrp?selected=PAN2970964334
I won’t be home tonight
Nobody ever accused Ritchie Blackmore of being the easiest guy to get along with.
Very nice interview! I've been a huge fan since I was a young kid through my whole life. Absolutely fascinating.
Awesome interview! I love Tony! His Planet P stuff is awesome!
Thanks for the kind words @ClassicGuitarRockJFL ! Indeed, his solo work is great too, especially his album Some Tough City! You have a great channel btw 👍👍
@@VRPRocks Thanks so much!
Tony is the best! Thanks.
One of Tony's most beautiful and haunting songs is "Looking At The Moon". If you've ever been heartbroken, this song will make you cry.
What a great guy Tony is
Tony Carey is one of the greatest musical minds of the 80's.
I could bluff my way into a convent as a cucumber salesman. Tony is uber talented and funny.
One of their best songs and absolute my fave intro is from Rising, Stargazer 💕Cozys Drums intro and everything the power of the song
Tony was the best keyboardist for Rainbow anyway!
Great work with Rainbow. And I love Planet P project first album. I wish Tony had continued in that style with the next albums.
I would absolutely LOVE to sit and pick Tony's brain! He is one of the few musicians I have a deep respect for. His Planet P work is phenomenal!
Great job with this interview. I started playing guitar because of ritchie. Danny BORDERLINE DELUSION band 😊
God bless the guitarists who inspired us.
Ritchie is a a great guitar player and this channel is also great..Thanks for the wonderful Videos.
Thanks for the very kind words @MizzesB! if you're a podcast fan, look for out for our podcast - it features the full length interviews from all these guests. Just search for Vintage Rock Pod 👍
Blackmore is a horrible person. Just absolutely horrible.
It's 47 years ago but I remember where I was when I first heard Rising. I can picture it now. Seriously blown away.
Nice work, Mr Carey! I've still got a piece of Ritchie Blackmore's guitar from the gig at Leicester De Montfort on the Rising tour.
Great interview 👍
Great to hear from you Tony. Love the keys, esp intro to Tarot women 🤘🏻👍🏻🎹 best wishes
Rainbow "Rising" is one of my favorite albums of all-time. I listen through that whole album several times a year still ,so many decades later.
Tarot Woman, best keyboard intro ever! I also really appreciate the solo on "Still I'm Sad" live on stage
@stefdali, IYHO, that is.
@@4thandinches Absolutely
..my best rating for Rainbow keyboardist ...its Tony Carey. Listen to his amazing intro in Stargazer Live in Cologne, 25 September 1976...superb!
Tony Carey is a legend. I love his Some Tough City and Plant P records, too.
Tony Carey, Geoff Nichols and Don Arey...keyboard heroes !
Seen Don Airey recently with Purple. RIP Geoff Nichols
Nice interview.
“ I could bluff my way through a convent as a cucumber salesman” 😅😅
When Toney did his own early 1980s album, I didn't realize his heavy Metal career but his singing and melodic sense also shown in Project P, he had a health scare I'm glad He survived when I first used the Internet to check back in on his whereabouts
He talks about those early solo records with me here ruclips.net/video/dXMp5nFBdCw/видео.html
Tony Carey’s musical career is so much more than Rainbow: Rising, or otherwise. I hope this interview will cover far more ground, re his solo career. I mean, for starters, he is a great singer-such a unique voice-a multi-instrumentalist, composer & writer. Pretty cool looking dude, too! I hope one day he’ll write his biography. I’d buy it … heck, i’d help him write it! 😁 Thank you for the clip, it made my day. 👏👏👏
Hi @rene7344 ! Yes, the full interview is nearly an hour long, lots of talk about his solo success, Planet P Project, his producer work with many stars and much more! If you'd care to listen to it in full it's here on the Vintage Rock Pod podcast: pod.fo/e/18517a
Thanks for watching!
@@VRPRocks Hello, thank you for taking the time to let me know, mate. I’ll check it out with alacrity, or failing that, a cold drink. For what it’s worth, I very much like your interviews: well done! Have a lovely weekend when it arrives for you.
@@renecents very kind words, thank you! It's 7pm here, I'll be clocking off in moments! Hope you have a good weekend too!
Creatively his career was the most interesting of all of them.
@@WinstonTexas829 Hello Simon. Actually, I think you make a good point. It has certainly been much more diverse and creative than Ritchie et al. Thanks for you comment. Enjoy your weekend. 👍
Tony is a really great guy!!
As was mentioned earlier Tonys synths on Catch the Rainbow (on stage) were fantastic. I would love to know if any of the 76 shows were recorded for video as it was then. No keyboard player matched him!!
Cheers to Tony for explaining what happened , I knew Blackmore was into dark arts and the Occult similar to Jimmy page , best to say NO to fame and fortune in those circumstances and just go your own way , I love the music of Zeppelin and DP/Rainbow but i would stay away from ouija boards and rituals etc it seems to turn good people evil , very scary stuff.
what good is it to gain the world which wont last.... only to lose your soul 🤨
@@butters395 Yeah I know , look at Jimmy page as example man has £400 million in his bank 🏦 but he's still ageing , money can't cure death 💀 and if these Rockers have sold their souls then they will regret their actions
