SYIL X5 Price + Specs

- I had the awesome opportunity to talk to the guys at SYIL "Sigh-EEL" at IMTS 2022. These machines have been on my radar as someone who is very interested in a Mini-Mill size machine for the garage shop but slightly cheaper possibly on the price scale. The X5 and X7 seem to be pretty awesome little machines.
I have to admit I was a little more partial to the X5 after talking to these guys. A few thousand dollars cheaper and quite a bit faster on the tool changes and cutting speed it caught my eye. The SYIL guys are also SUPER cool and open to configure a machine exactly how the buyer wants it. Lots of options and the ability to run these as 5 axis machines with a trunnion or a 4th axis rotary. This could be an insanely powerful garage shop machine. Have a look and Enjoy!

Syil is really making people take notice. My self would love to have the L3 lathe.
A bit to add to this, I heard of a guy asking another brand of machine a question about how they're put together and was answered, "Why would we tell you that so you can go build them yourself?" This was nothing trade secret, just a basic question. And instead, Syil has been fully open, honest and wanting to help. Huge.
Very cool video! I’m in Utah as well. Do they have a local to utah distributor?
They dont have a Utah rep per-se but you can contact Paul Frink: paul@syil.com and he can help you with sales. Super cool guy and has all the answers.
I wounder how this would suffice against a HAAS mini-mill or tool mill cnc?
Did you get to see the 5axis? Im in southern utah
Thanks for the vid. Lots of good info. The X5 definitely seems very cool and a great value. Any idea if it could fit a 4th axis?
It could for sure fit a 4th. The envelope is 11*11*11 so a small Rotary would work.
They sell it with that 125mm diameter 4th as an option for like 4800.
The rep at IMTS said they have a 4th axis that is capable of 2,000 RPM for basic mill turn applications as well
@@chiseled_face that I've got no clue on. I'm interested in that.
@@chiseled_face Syil told me that must have been a misunderstanding. Would be sure cool.
In imts 2023 do a video of only chinese machines. I want to know who they are and how they are progressing.
No other company markets epoxy granite casting. Most i have seen are still cast iron.
I think this is one thing they hold unique. I haven’t seen many other epoxy cast machines either.
Speedio killer!!!!!!
Not even remotely close except in looks.
@@jong2558 Cmon, it’s at least a little remotely close. Maybe not the same speeds and accuracy but it probably gets you 50% of the way there for 20% the price.
@@jacobfalk4827 I didn't mean to sound so dismissive. Watch some videos of the two, they are just in a different league entirely. I just watched a video of an X7 cutting alum. with a 3/8 endmill... Sounded like a Tormach. The rigidity just wasn't there, despite their epoxy granite setup. Spindle sounded terrible. There is a lot better out there for $32K that's proven and will have some better longevity, less bugs, etc. Lemme put it this way... I own a Speedio S700, I use it nearly every day. It's like walking out, starting your car and driving to the store. It doesn't do weird stuff, it just prints money. :) You can see and feel the quality right down the the bolts and wires on it. Again, not trying to be a jerk or whatever, should have left it alone. I'm not saying a person should purchase a Brother either... Just that they aren't really close. Your 50% for 20% estimate may well be true actually. So fair point there. I'd rather risk a $30K used machine than one of these though.
@@jong2558 No worries, always nice to hear input from people who actually have experience. Thanks for the .02
Does the x5 Z axis travel all the way to the bed if you wanted to machine off some fixture plates? I know the x7 does not and that's the biggest con IMO
I’m not sure honestly, this was the first time I had see SYIL machines in person so outside of what I showed in the video I’m lacking some info. You should hop on the SYIL owners group on Facebook. You can ask them all these questions and get solid answers.
All you have to do to reach the table with a tool. Is use a longer tool.
You can buy insert cutter extension as well. Extended bt30 tool holder. Several options to get more tool length.
@@ammo1033 That's true! I've realized since posting that a while back that you only need about 3" of stick out for the x7
.0004" accuracy! Wow! HAAS has nothing on them for the price.
The travel and spindle W is just not as good.
I would recommend Tongtai VTX-7.
We just bought two. In our region this machine is competing brother hard. Robodrill is no competition.
What's the price point of VTX-7?
@@Rimrock300
We bought vtx-7ll
This comes with bigger table compared to vtx-5ll and higher torque compared to the vtx-7.
Price point starts from $47,000.
13.7/3.7 kw
12000rpm
60m/60m/60m
850mmx400mm
21 tool
Bbt30
not same level machine as SYIL models base on epoxy granite frame...
I want one 🥺
Me too. Really cool.
Hi x5 32.5 is Australia dollars?
No, USD
Thank you mate
I would take this over a Tormach anything, 1000 times over.
I would also. X5 is super rad.
There really is no comparison from what I've seen.
Does these machines have a conveyer or an auger?
They have pull out chip drawer catchers. Not sure if they have a conveyor option.
@@ericschneiter I think it does not upto x9. But they should if these machines easily accept a robotic arm.
Add on
@@ericschneiter OK. Thanks
@@ericschneiter 7:35 I am waiting.
Soooo, 5 months later. I'm guessing Scott didn't want to share it after all
Share what?
@@ericschneiter share images of his X11 in action. Did you ever manage to see it in action?
@@patrickd9551 oh no, there’s a guy here in Utah I want to go see his. But haven’t been able to yet. Are they being secret about them or something?
@@ericschneiter You tell me :) I'm not the one living close to one. (there is a dutch youtuber with an X7, but that's way too common ;) )
@@patrickd9551 haha I need to get his info and go see it and post a video. X11 looks super cool!
So you can buy 10 of these instead of one doosan. But nobody will go that route. They will still buy a doosan.
I’m not sure the 5 axis capabilities are the same. I know syil has a 5 axis. The doosan machines are super high end workhorses. But yeah, the X5 for people on a budget and tight on space is a no brainer. This machine is so much bang for bucks.
Its chinese = Prob copied everyone's design like brother, control certainly looks a copy or fanuc. Tool changer looks to be a rip off of the robo drill.
Not to defend anyone, but copying each other is pretty standard practice in the machine tool industry.
That's fair, I think a lot of these tools and their iterations evolve and get copied. The more mills I see the more they look the same. I will say something interesting about these mills is they have an entire epoxy granite casting. Kind of a unique claim for a machine like this. Yes, many chineese parts, but also a pretty cheap option for the features this mill offers. Good support and a cult like group of owners. A pretty good option for someone trying to get into CNC in their garage.
@@ericschneiter tbh im sick of seeing western tech ripped off by chinese companies and then selling it back to us
This is how technology evolves. Someone invents something, sells it with a high margin low quantity, someone copies it for low margim high quantity and the first company invents their high income to new revolutionary products
my local makerspace has a x7 and its really good and is not far off the few emco cnc mills we have in school (higher tecnical college) and what i heard from other users that its a step-up from a haas mini mill or a tormach , wich it vas built to compete with 🤷♂️
alst tj schwarz and nerdly have one and both produce yt content and seem to be happy with it
