    Hey guys has anyone bought the 8565u processor version of the Yoga 730 15 inch?. The Whisky lake version, I wanted to ask does this one have it? if so can someone confirm how many lanes of PCIe does it have over thunderbolt 3? I wanted to know since the 8565u version has total 16 lanes, 4 more than the older version, do those extra lanes go to the thunderbolt 3 connection to give it 4 lanes of PCIe over thunderbolt 3?

    Thank you very much for addressing my inquiry, the 730 15.6" just jumped to the top of my list (earlier being 2nd only to its 13.3" sibling). Nice info on battery performance as well, I know other devices do have better longevity but they're also much more expensive and/or are conventional laptops, not 2in1s.
    P.S. Who'd dislike this ?? 😡

    I picked up a Yoga 730 last month. Wifi cuts out after like 5 minutes. I want to swap to an Intel Wifi Card. When I first got my laptop I almost returned it! (before I noticed the wifi issue), due to the display being absolutely TOO DIM. I bought this to work on the car, so sunlight would have killed it's usefulness. Fortunately after a Lenovo update, I was then able to up the brightness, to my great relief!!. I do love this device. Nice build quality. BTW: If you moisten your finger, the print reader works much better.

    • @SanderCokart
      @SanderCokart  5 лет назад +1

      Another way to up brightness is to disable adaptive brightness which prevents it from going to 100%

      Full disclosure. I downloaded wifi driver from realtek site. Went with previous version, and wifi acted stable. Ok. Well Intel wifi and Bluetooth card arrived next day from A-zon, along with memory, so yep, it now has Intel wifi and BT5. Not yet sure if the BT5 will work better with my Plantronics Voyager headset, but we'll see. The yoga had no issues with the new wifi card or RAM. yay.

    That battery is actually several times bigger in capacity than any smartphone. mAh is not a measure of energy, you need to multiply it by the voltage to get energy. Laptop batteries have higher voltage, so they have higher capacity for the same mAh rating.
    What you _can_ compare directly is Wh (watt-hour) rating, which does in fact indicate energy. Smartphone batteries are about 12Wh. Your laptop has 51Wh.

    • @SanderCokart
      @SanderCokart  5 лет назад

      Thanks for the information I'll keep that in mind next time, it's just that more people can read mAh 😅

    • @chinmaykai
      @chinmaykai 5 лет назад +1

      @@SanderCokart Yes, it's pretty strange why smartphone manufacturers still emphasize mAh rating.
      Btw, in your video, the Wh rating is right next to mAh on the battery.

    Someone on Reddit (or perhaps Reflagdeals forums) said that you can actually upgrade the ram to more than just an additional 8GB. They had to take theirs in for service and the tech put a 16GB unit in the slot and he has 24GB usable on his Yoga.

    • @SanderCokart
      @SanderCokart  4 года назад

      yeah but there is a limit that the laptop can use to full potential. It has to do with the amount of bandwidth the southbridge has or northbridge one of those.

    I have a 15" yoga 730 with dedicated GPU graphics and more features. I disagree with you about the fingerprint issue. I can see in the video that you're not applying your finger properly for the reader to recognize it. Also you seem to wanna compare it to the fast responsiveness of smartphones' fingerprint unlocking. The fact is, laptop fingerprint readers use a stronger and more secure technology than smartphones' because they house all of our work and documents : they are more sensitive. The yoga 730 uses the latest Intel fingerprint technology and because it is stronger and more secure, do not expect your computer to be unlocked if you do not apply your finger properly. The convenience of smartphones fingerprint unlocking speeds comes at the cost of strong security. It only needs to read a portion of a finger to recognize (making it less secure), unlike on Lenovo laptops which require a full application of a finger on the reader (hence more secure).
    Personally I have never (and I mean never) had any issue with it and am happy with it being hard on fingerprint recognition because it makes me feel more secure with it. So you should check that out again

    We bought a 730 -- overall good laptop except the wireless modem simply SUCKS. It is a RealTek real POS, so I had to buy an Intel 8625 WiFi/BT module and replace it. Put in the new Intel module and never a drop signal, and constant, fast internet access.

    Hey there, thank you so much for these videos, there aren't a lot of online reviews for lenovos products for some reason. I would like to know more about the pen experience with this product if you wouldn't mind. I was in the mindset of buying a surface pro, but for longivity's sake, it just doesn't make any sense over the 730 because of the later's specs and usb-c. Can you use the pen comfortably in presentation mode or does the screen wobble too much for example?
    And by the way, do you know why the 900s family is being presented as the premium class when the specs are similar between the two? Is it a physical difference? The bending mechanism might be a bit different..? Thanks

    Hey sander how are you getting such good battery life? I have the 4k i7 version which is rated at 9 hours but i only get like 1 hour. I have the cpu undervolted, i put nvidia on optimal power, and I dont have the screen on full brightness. I have downloaded hwinfo64 and my computer is drawing 22watts when i am doing nothing. Can check to see yours? Also for the fingerprint thing if you go into device manager and turn off power saving for biometric devices it works really good.

    • @SanderCokart
      @SanderCokart  5 лет назад

      Remember that every single company lies about battery life,
      The 4K i7 model does suck up a lot of power but one hour is a bit ridiculous I think you should bring it back to Lenovo or try and run a command prompt battery test to check for its current capacity.

    • @SanderCokart
      @SanderCokart  5 лет назад

      22 watts is only happening when it's on full power so it's definitely doing something bad in the background
      Fingerprint barely cost any power to run and has zero effect on mine as far as battery life is concerned

    Hi,
    Can I ask how's the battery performance after around 2 months of usage? Gaming wise, is there any heat throttle issue? And lastly, are the edges quite tacky or even sharp as other reviews have pointed out? You are by far one of my trusted reviewer for this laptop!

    • @SanderCokart
      @SanderCokart  5 лет назад

      Battery is solid! Still can do 8 hours on careful use.
      Gaming is around 80 degrees or 60 depends on the game.
      No throttling for me.
      I got no sharp portions on my laptop no...I got an EU version guess that's why it's less broken than other customers are facing.

      @@SanderCokart Hi Sander, thank you for your reply. I've finally gotten hold of this unit and I'm so far impressed by it. it cannot void warranty in my book as it doesn't don't any components plus these laptops are made to be upgraded.
