It is interesting watching this from a country that doesn’t have national service. I’m learning a lot about what it’s like. It seems very tough, I could not image having to go through it. I don’t think it would work in my country, people would riot lol. My dad actually almost had to do national service for Italy even though he’s not Italian! My great grandmother is Italian and she moved to England after WW2 and when my grandmother was born she got English citizenship but they did not register her in Italy because my great grandmother wanted her daughter to be fully english. Then when my great grandmother died and my grandmother went to register her death at the Italian embassy they were like “hang on, if she’s your mum then you should have Italian citizenship. Do you want citizenship?” so my grandmother got Italian citizenship. And then through that they found out about my dad and aunty. They might of been given Italian citizenship too. But then my dad got a letter in the mail telling him he needs to join the Italian army for national service. Luckily, he managed to get out of it because at the time he was in university through the British Air Force and since he was in the military for Britain then he wasn’t allowed to be in the Italian military too. You’re only ever allowed to be in one country’s military.
