- Untie The Lines is BACK! We are starting Season 3 with the preparations for crossing the Panama Canal into the Pacific! I hope to see you all on board again for all the exciting adventures coming up in this season.
This was more than due: new solar panels for Karl. I had already purrchased them in Mexico but now it was finally time to install them. What a treat to have a floating work shop anchored right next to me with a skilled friend that knows how to weld upside down.
But see yourself!
Enjoy and ahoy,
Nike & Karl

This is NOT a live documentary! There is a time difference between filming and publishing due to the time it takes to send data home, to edit the episodes and to internet not always being awailable on those little remote palm tree islands :).

As a homesteader I've prided myself on DIY but this beats all. Two thumbs up.
Reminds me of when I was there about 4 years ago now. Not much has changed except some the the boats at anchor. I arrived at night in total darkness to the anchorage and thought I would be totally alone. Then I turned on a bight light to see my way and was shocked to see so many other boats there. It was like a dream now. Enjoy your time in Panama. I would do most anything to get back to San Blas Islands. Not any easy trip from up here in the Pacific Northwest. At least not this time of year.
I am impressed. I am impressed that Karl has a drill press, and impressed that Joana has enough power to drive a TIG welder. Really nice work, and focus on self-sufficiency.
oh no, that drill press is on Joana, too. I wish I had such a workshop, but Karl is not that advanced...YET ;) you never know, hehe.
Ahoy, Nike & Karl
Oh happy days!!! UTL is back!
Two really talented ladies ....... Seriously impressed.
Your sailing channel is the most consistent and "real" to watch on youtube. Very relaxing.
Good to see you back in the tropics.
Yeah Niki! Good to see you back. Can't wait for the Pac. Get it to gather. Sail off into the big blue. Stop off in all those wonderful remote islands. You can do it. Your a true sailor.
Welding can be very fun but also aggravating. Love seeing the videos.
Really great to have you back on your channel Nike. X
How fortunate for you to have such a wonderful and talented friend with a well-equipped boat. Glad to have you back looking forward to the season
If Karl was any other craft than a Monohulled sailboat this series would have been over ages ago. Sailboat upgrades are perpetual. I hope your visit was energizing. But I have so many questions- about the scope of your project as you aim for the Pacific. Unbridled and I can relate to you guys for an instant. Great adventure.
Welcome back Nike/Karl! I´ve been waiting for your new videos! ... Fair winds and following seas!
Well done ladies it’s good to see ladies doing that sort of work you’ve done a good job just found your program can’t wait to see more of it😊🇦🇺
These videos are giving me such wanderlust! I haven't sailed in probably a decade.
Mightily impressed by how far you have come since those first Panama days and how independent and pro-active you've become. Great construction skills! Looking forward to this new series.
nice to see you back
It's great seeing you, again with Karl.
I've been sailing ...waves here in Puget Sound and so grateful (after 12 years away from sailing) to be back at it at age 68.
...waves
one tip from a 50jr old mechanic. wile welding tig always bent the end of the weld wire 180 degree about 1cm so it snot charp. many people have eye damage from the scharp wire (end) getting in there eyes
Freue mich auf S 3, eine gute Zeit für euch 2 und alles Glück für den neuen Motor 😎⛵
I love how independent you and your friend are! If it needs to be done the two of you are on it. Amazing!
Great start to the new season. Maria's boat is quite something.
By the time Karl is fully renovated you will have the skills to start a boat yard. Good on ya.
Great to feel the relaxed atmosphere with your video and sound. Welcome back!
So great to have you back. We have missed your v-logs. Hope everything is well on Karl.
So great to see this video and see you in action again. Real women Tig weld! Both my wife and myself work on our boat together, doing technical tasks, and it is inspiring to see you doing the same. You are the real deal.
You always meet the right person that really says alot about you :-) HAPPY SAILING !
Super great to see you back again and this is a wonderful video to start off the new season. Thanks for sharing.
Seriously.......a chick who knows how to tig weld, I'm impressed!
So great to see you back online. Can't wait for more of Season 3.
It's good to have a friend with floating workshop nearby : ) I am impressed, great work!
Particularly one who can weld SS. That's quite a skill that most welders I know don't have
AND aluminum :)!
With an insulator between because dissimilar metals
I meant aluminum on aluminum...;) as in she can weld both, stainless but also aluminum :)
I knew that, I was just testing you :P
Good to see your videos again Nike. Another season to look forward to. I'll be waiting for each and every episode. 😊
Good to see and hear you are back. Looking forward to ......next week !
You have the best sailing video's on youtube. Keep up the good work!!

Great to see you back Nike.
Looking forward to your journey through the Panama Canal. I've done it myself a couple of times on ships and I hope one day to be able to do it myself on my own boat just like you.
Great to see you back

It's good to have you back!!
Excelente video,...
Great to have you back. We've missed you. Nice work.
Ahoy, and welcome back Nike and Karl! Great to see you back again. I love to watch you fearlessly working on whatever needs doing on Karl and learning along the way! I have been tig welding aluminium all morning, making a frame to hold the rubbish bag inside the cupboard under the sink in the galley. It is a lot easier in the workshop than out on the ocean.....in the wind!
Can't wait to see you in the Pacific, hopefully by the time you make it this far south, I will be on the water too. Hoping to launch in October this year.
Cheers. Wade.
my new fave sailing channel!!! I just purchased a macwester mk1 ketch 31ft! novuce experience but at the age ready for the jump... so excited. love the videos :) Love Karl ( literally love Karl haha)
Great to have you back!! I can not wait to watch your adventures.
Wow, you two are such bad asses! I was freaked out when getting off the bus in Colon, much lesss strolling around looking for a metal shop. That is a rough town for sure. Good on you for getting the job done. Always so impressed with your journey. Respect!
Great video Nike! Just love how you always have video's of what your fixing and you do it yourself. Boy send your friend up here to Canada. would love to find someone with a boat you can tie up to and get welding done on. No more dead battery's for you! Take care.
You created a workshop in the bilge of your boat. Incredibly resourceful. Smooth sailing.
It was so cool to see this video pop up.
You seem so happy when you have friends around, I think you should have sailing buddies with you throughout your season 3 adventures!
Stay safe and keep smiling ☺ ⛵ 🌞

Welcome Back!! I have missed your videos.
Nike, I look forward to your 3rd season. Good stuff and very interesting. Did anyone tell you that you do also quite a good job with your video-filming and photography in general, composition, variety, unusual view angles etc. I've seen a lot of sailing videos with the intention of the videomaker to keep your interest up come back to their channels every week or so. Most of them fail miserably, but your videos and reports are very much different.
Cheers. keep up
