Thrifting for Final Fantasy merchandise in Japan

- In this episode I review my recent trip to Japan focusing specifically on the Final Fantasy merchandise I was able to thrift in various hobby shops, book shops and department stores across the country. I unbox Final Fantasy figures and various items I was able to acquire, and discuss my personal experiences of the Akihabara district tourist destination in Tokyo, and alternatives to this much revered (but expensive and overrated) Otaku destination.

In the world of Final Fantasy lore,
There's a RUclipsr that we adore,
His name is Alleyway Jack,
And his insights are never slack.
He delves deep into each game,
Uncovering secrets and fame,
His analysis is always spot on,
Making us see what we've done wrong.
With a keen eye for detail,
He doesn't miss a single detail,
From characters to the story line,
His expertise is truly divine.
He brings to light what we missed,
And explains it all with a twist,
Making us see the games anew,
With a fresh and enlightening view.
We thank you Alleyway Jack,
For the knowledge that you unpack,
Your love for Final Fantasy,
Is contagious and sets us free.
Lovely work mate, glad you had a brilliant trip
Cheers mate! 🙌
So glad you had a fun time! I’m very much eager to go myself, though it’ll definitely take some planning. X3
Thanks mate, yeah I hope you manage to get out there it was good fun :)
That was a great recap video, nice change of pace from the usual content (which I love of course), I hope I'll be able to travel to Japan in the near future to get some nice FF merch.
Honestly that was fascinating to watch! Thrifting looks cool 😎
Thanks, glad you enjoyed this :)
Makes me want to go!
Awesome
Final Fantasy Tactics is being remade for the ps5, It supposedly was being done along side all of squares other projects but gets put aside when big titles like rebirth go into production, in the last ATB Report they said "Soon a tactical decision will be made so god save the queen" and every assumed it means tactics will be officially revealed. 9 is allegedly getting an hd/remake port of some kind as well despite the switch hd port.
Which stores would you recommend in priority for FF merch?
From my experience there and in a priority order that assumes you want to quickly find FF merch without spending all day running around thrift stores, I would suggest Kotobukiya book stores, Artnia cafe at Square HQ in Tokyo, or one of the Eorzea cafes, all of which sell FF merch new.
After that there is the Akihabara district which has a huge array of hobby stores dedicated to gaming/anime merch, but is a known tourist destination for this stuff so is a bit pricey imo. (though bargains can still be found as with my Cloud figure I mention in this video).
If you are looking for older final fantasy merch (e.g. that precedes FF15), or cheaper/2nd hand products, I would suggest checking out the Lashinbang stores, or searching 'hobby shops' while you're over there, as they are literally everywhere in major cities... but this method is a bit pot-luck with whether you'll find any Final Fantasy merch at these stores. I would say there was FF merch in about 70% of the Lashinbang's I checked though so I would think you'll have success in at least one of their many stores.
I hope that helps.
Also Super Potato, which doesn't sell proper 'merch' per se, but does tend to stock old FF games and strategy guides and bits like that which is cool.
Ekse, turn on gsync to avoid all that stuff jack i hope i can help
