  • This video focuses on the care and maintenance of an Eastern red cedar tree and Japanese Andromeda shrubs and covers the cleaning, pruning methods, shaping and training of these plants and trees.     What is the best time of year to prune an East in red Cedar found in the wild? I read somewhere at the end of July but I’m thinking winter during the dormant season?

      Hi Dave, I would recommend to definitely prune during the growing season only, some time between late spring and early summer. When exactly that is depends on the climate zone you live in. Also, I would suggest to only prune what is necessary, so not too much. Hope that helps :)

    Your Japonicas need a feed high in iron, as they are ericaceous. What is your soil ph there?

      Hi Edmund, thanks for your comment. We will consider that when we do the next round of fertilizing. Our soil pH is slightly acidic, around 5.
