Hi brother, thanks for this amazing video. I needed a this video where I could see how it works. I have a question for you, the configuration was clear to me, I would like to know if it could be possible to connect a laptop and use this microphone and speaker in a streaming or video call for a presentation.
Hi John I got the 600i last week and it's awesome. But I think I need a long speaker cable. So can I use other long speaker cable? If so which gage of cable type should I use. Because I would like to use the mixer in front of speaker. Thanks again
I had some 20 foot extensions from way back in the day that were 1/4" female to male.. so I use those. the BEST way would be to get some 16 or 14 gauge 14" to 14" male cables that are one cable and longer for those applications. I THINK the wires with the unit are 18 gauge.. but, over a a bit longer run, a heavier wire would be nicer. But, don't go crazy with heavy wire for this application (like 12 gauge) .. I would think a 35 or 50 foot 14 gauge would be the perfect fit for this unit.
Hi. I'm planning to get 600i for a powerful system but when I took some browsing on the youtube, I came across with this Samson XP1000 and got curious about its 1000W power output over stagepas' 600W output. In your opinion, what can you recommend between these 2 pa's as I really need a powerful sound with a relatively powerful bass. Thanks for your inputs.
The output wattage is not a good comparison.. what I would look at is that Yamaha is a better quality name in the audio industry.. and Samson is a cheaper line or entry-level gear pretty much.. while some Samson gear is solid for the use, the brand isn't known for its high quality where Yamaha is more respected in the industry.
thank you John your reviews always great, if i want to compare it with the "JBL EON 210P" the usage willbe for pool/outdoor parties (50 peaples) what would be your recommendation please talking about clarity of sound and good base?
+Grant Nicol The big difference I see is that you can use a sub with the 400, and not with the 300... and that alone would be the worth the extra investment!
Hi John I'm looking for some pa system and this yamaha stagepass 400i or fender passport event. Which one do you reckon? I don't know which on should i get. Both reviews are great. Thanks
I use the 400i for ceremonies and some smaller parties when I use a subwoofer with this.. If you can.. I would go with the 600i though.. it has just a bit more horsepower and flexibility..
A very nice review, thank you. You're mentioning a 12" inch jumper cable. Is it just a short ordinary speaker cable to connect just one output channel to a speaker? Or is it something special that bridges the left and right output into one? Thanks, Karsten
Hi I know this is a post from years back but I got a question. I'm planning a small party and about 25~30 people will be there. The space is not that big and I want to play some hiphop music at the event. Do you think a 400i would cut it or would i need to get subs as well?
They will sound better/handle more volume that home speakers in this situation.. but, you would LOVE the sound with a sub added.. only need one.. but it would help a ton with hip hop... and you could really almost use any powered sub (yes, maybe even a big home sub) in this case.
Thank you, I just have one more question. I read somewhere that in order to connect a sub to the 400i, you need a DSP? or can you connect straight from the PA system to the sub speaker? And if so, what cables would i need? Thank you
Hi sir i have this 80sq restaurant, around 60 to 80pax capacity open area pub, Im planning to buy a stagepas but still have no idea if 600 or just 400i Im planning to have an acoustic night for my bar, can you give me a little help here sir. Thank you.
I noticed that last night with my 400i I ran my guitar (through effects) and a +48v Mic and 2 keyboards through it and while I was playing a more intense song I noticed that the sound dropped out during th more intense overdrive guitar parts. Any ideas? I've had to change/repair 3 tweeters since I own it. And we weren't terribly loud. The led wasn't showing any clipping when I glanced at it.
+Gordon Hazell wow.. I have used it for 6 bar gigs with a sub.. without problem and with some pretty harsh playing... wonder if there is a problem with the amp???
I have this. Great unit. Use it for youth gatherings. You can even use a bass guitar amp for the bass cut out. Easy to push it to 600 watts + with bass amp, keyboard amp, or powered sub.,
I would look for a good cardioid pattern microphone.. I personally like Shure.. but the major brands all have a decent version of the Cardioid or hyper cardioid pattern pick up mics.
+Alan Murray for most DJs.. I would highly recommend NOT having an EQ.. because they tend to mis-use them more than using them correctly. A good mixing board with a three band EQ is more than enough for 85% of the DJs out there.. If you have the skills to go and use one properly.. then I would look at a dbxpro.com/en-US/product_families/driverack Driverack from DBX Pro. Personally, I would spend the $$ to get a unit I can control via tablet and that has delay ability for when I am setting up speakers all around the room!! :)
+Marcelo F I have used both the Yamaha subs with the system and others.. my favorite that I think sounds the best.. is this www.electrovoice.com/product.php?id=2575 small, fits that system well.. easy to use... and I HATE crossing brands. but in this case, it does match better I feel than the DXS12...

Hi sir, can we connect this to the tv so that audio from the tv will go out thru the yamaha speaker? Thank fo the reply

How is the bass on the speakers ? Looking at one of these for my home studio
Is it possible to use around 100-150 people at an outdoor event?
Hi!Where I’m gonna make some order and how much?
2 questions: Are the 400 watts continuous and are the 400 watts for each speaker or both combined?

I had the exact same doubt. What made me choose the Yamaha 600i was the fact that it had a subwoofer output and the samson XP1000 did not.

Hey John, what sub do you recommend for the I400 and I600? Thx!
DXS 12 is the perfect match. The sub crossover should be at 120hz, any sub will work.
So this is just for 2 speakers. Any other product that will do 4 speakers?
Looking at buying a Yamaha Stagepas 300 for doing small dj gigs. Would this system be too small in your opinion or much different than the 400?
+Grant Nicol The big difference I see is that you can use a sub with the 400, and not with the 300... and that alone would be the worth the extra investment!
You'll want a powered sub, especially with the amped up bass of modern dance music. Even 200watt sub would do it., 300 even better.

does the system come with 2 speakers? is it loud enough to keep up with drums?
Good question.

Nothing fancy, just a short Tip/Sleeve cable!! :)
discjockeynews Ah, thank you.

And is there a model you would recommend for the sub? Thank you
a 1/4" speaker cable is all you need.. going into a powered sub..
The new EV ELX 12" sub ROCKS for this application!

I would go with the 600 with the additional options for audio control and flexibility!
Thank you very much sir. Appreciated
Hi John, is the difference in price of the 600i worth it? For amplifying voice and violins over a band/orchestra is the 400i enough?
Ricardo Nascimento there are some mixer benefits that make the 600 more flexible
John...what do u reckon....I am due to sing at a charity do (small) should I get this system or JBL eon suitcase one?
I think this has more output than the JBL suitcase.. but, the Stagepas 600 would have you covered for sure!!
Hi. Is the 400i good for in home Karaoke? or should i get the 600i?
it would be great for that! :)
Thanks for the help!
oh also can you recommend any wireless mics that wont break the bank. maybe something in the $150-250 price range?

... wow .. it snaps in ..and it snaps off! ... wow!
which equalizer do you recommend when using dxr and dxs set up ? cheers
