This is such a wholesome list. Seriously, it wreaks of subjectivity and from the heart so much that I have to give it props. While it wouldn’t be mine, this person is being honest to their opinion over all else.
You can argue the placements, film is subjective afterall. But this is a great list and the editing was fantastic Sam. Also great to see someone has put so much David Lynch in the tier list, the guys a genius. I have to subscribe and would love to see more montages!
Pretty great list I would say. Loved seeing The Batman go so high (especially after the music was teased earlier). And I was hard pulling for the Incredibles which is best animated movie ever imo. Some surprising exclusions to me where inception, No Country for Old Men, Silence of the Lambs, Toy Story 1, A Quiet Place 1, The Count of Monte Cristo (2002), Edge of Tommorow, and The Dark Knight but this was amazingly edited and put together.
Yeah I reckon I’d move Glass Onion down now tbh. I made the list itself back in December when I’d only seen it once in the cinema, but with time I reckon it wouldn’t be anywhere near as high. Also Thank you!!!
Great list that is clearly emphasis that is based on your tastes since most people won't admit it publically or make a list with MCU films, the new SW triliogy above taxi, or anything by Kubrick or Akira Kurosawa or john ford. I applaud you for that.
This was dope a lot of legendary films and film makers. Normally I never agree with these type of “top” videos but you were spot on 75% of the time for me. With that being said keep going we see you and they will too
It's a nice list because it's YOURS and that's all that matters. Mine would have some similarities and some differences. I would be interested in seeing if some of the films that you rate highly that were made after 2019 would be on the list 10 years from now
I kind of cheated with that one. It’s referred to by many as an 18 hour long film, and it’s like my favourite thing ever so I thought it would be ridiculous for me not to take advantage of the fact that I can yet again celebrate the greatest piece of media I’ve ever witnessed
@@themovieguysam2590 and those many would all be wrong, it's still a series. There's plenty actual long-format films around that claiming a series as one is a disservice to those other efforts. 2018's La Flor, Lav Diaz's filmography, where he regularly creates films in the 4-8hr range and plenty others released annually. Maybe consider making a list of favorite series and celebrate it there? Or just a video dedicated to it specifically.
@@zeadsi well I just didn’t include those as I haven’t seen them. I saw an opportunity and I took it. I love the series and it’s very much structured more like a film than a show if you watch each episode individually. It feels like more of a disservice to my own taste to NOT include it
@@themovieguysam2590 No one is saying you have to, just pointing out that films of that length exists, and are actually films, not tv series. And the argument for placing a TV series as a number 1 for a film list still doesn't validate it for something as nebulous as what it feels like. Many tv series and mini-series can lay claim to having film-like structures or feeling like films but they're still not films (Chernobyl, Band of Brothers etc). They're both visual mediums that share similar literary devices, editing techniques, screenplay treatments etc but they're not one in the same. Just picture it the other way around. Imagine someone made a list of favorite tv series and ends it with their number 1 being, idk, Hateful Eight, solely for its built in chapters, functioning similar to episodes. Ultimately you can do whatever you want with your content, but as it stands, it's a favorite films list without an actual #1.
@@zeadsi I don’t think I need to validate my own reasoning. The technicalities as you attribute them shouldn’t matter to me when putting together my list, nor should they after I’ve posted them. To me, I’m very satisfied ending my video with such a masterclass in cinema as The Return, if you disagree, that’s fine. I just don’t personally see the need to attempt to convince ME (the maker of the video) otherwise
@@themovieguysam2590 I understand that you like Linklater, Lynch and Thomas Anderson, but why is there no film by Fellini, by Welles, by Ford, by Wong Kar Wai, by Bergman, by Coppola, by Lang, by Ejezenstein, by Vertov, by Tarkovsky or Spielberg? And then the films of Hitchcock, Kubrick, Kurosawa or Scorsese are too low compared to films like ''The Force Awakens'' or all Marvel films.
Really respect this list, as in I trust these are your favourite movies and your not just showing off and acting pretentious like by putting a bunch of ingmar Bergman movies on it (I do like persona a lot though), it’s very sincere, great list👍 I also love how a lot of my favourite movies like lost highway, The Master, unbreakable and Toy Story made it on your list, my top 10 movies are consistent and don’t change a lot and they would have to be 10: Get Out (2017) 9: El Topo (1970) 8: Blue Velvet (1986) 7: Antichrist (2009) 6: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) 5: Taxi Driver (1976) 4: Oldboy (2003) 3: Irreversible (2002) 2: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) 1: A Clockwork Orange (1971) These are the movies that mean the most to me
not only is this a great list, this video has great audio and editing. good job! I also love that you like guardians of the galexy, it has a special place in my heart. I also thought i was the only one that had GOTG 2 in my top 15. Me rn: YOU HAVE US IN YOUR TOP 15! ( It is a great movie very underrated) Also me rn: EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE YESSSSSS! Also also me entering the top 10: NOPE IS HERE * choking noises * WHAT! (It seems like you are a big JP fan, so am i.
Personally, I think Jojo Rabbit should have been on this list. Jojo Rabbit is a beautiful movie. It may seem like a weird and rather uncomfortable plot, making a comedy of Hitler youth, but it does it so expertly. The characters are so profoundly deep in more ways then one, the writing and script is beautifully put together with amazing screenplay. Then, the movie just hits you with one of the biggest gut punches ever. The twist genuinely got me bawling, and the ending is so sweet and optimistic I broke down. As someone who doesn't really cry at movies, Jojo Rabbit made me bawl uncontrollably.
Thor: Love and Thunder felt kind of like a joke... The comedy seemed really out of place when you remember that Jane has cancer and that ages gonna die by the end of the movie. There's some plot lines which just barely get any time to develop at all, like what happened to Valkyrie from the war? I like the villain, but he needed more of an ominous presence than just.. Kidnapping children.
Mine would have to include (in no particular order): Rocky, Rocky II, Chariots of Fire, The Ten Commandments, Blade Runner, Planet of the Apes (original), True Grit (original), Red River, It’s a Wonderful Life, Hoosiers, El Dorado, White Christmas, The Searchers, Gladiator, Unforgiven, Mississippi Burning, Cool Hand Luke, The Hustler, Quiz Show, King Kong (original), Jaws, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Minority Report, At Eternity’s Gate

excluding some of the star wars films, and the fact that glass onion is above taxi driver, you have a brilliant list. the editing, the music, is all beautiful.
Let me start by congratulating you on the beauty of this video. It’s perfect my friend. The editing *chef’s kiss* The selected scenes. Wow. I have to admit..at first more than a few of your choices angered me. To be fair I’m not the biggest Marvel fan. But it’s YOUR list dammit. Brave. Bold. Challenging. True. Including an OG Spider-Man and Mask of the Phantasm..yes! LOTRs..yes! Twin Peakes..yes! Now I want to make my own
Would love to know your framework for crafting this. It’s an overwhelming idea for me. So many films I want to include. LOTRs would be on my list..but I would cheat and have all three together. Jurassic Park changed me upon first viewing. Almost Famous, Picnic At Hanging Rock, Harlan County, USA, The Matrix, The Thing, The Night of the Hunter, Alien, Taxi Driver, The Godfather 1 and 2, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Mr. Klein, To Sleep With Anger, There Will Be Blood, etc. Films that feel cinematic, challenging, expertly crafted with a unique vision. But most importantly..makes me want to be a filmmaker/storyteller
@@villanova5234 GO. FOR. IT. It’s your video, you make your own rules. Include LOTR as a trilogy if you want, I almost did that for the Before Trilogy, it’s absolutely worth it
I agree about the high placement of Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and whilst I might be undecided about the Last Jedi’s very high placement, I respect your opinion, overall unique and interesting list
Great list! I I’ve seen 81. We have similar taste in the sense that you have all genres and huge blockbusters to foreign films I have never heard of. Pinch Drink love is in my top 15 and Se7en is my number ones
I just love how versatile film is. It’s so great that I can find as much artfulness in The Last Jedi as i can in some foreign film from decades ago. Just fantastic. That’s what I love about favourites lists… it puts the wide variety of film on full display
made me so happy to see Nope that high! completely snubbed at the academy, completely hated on by the community and barely talked about for its positives. peeles best,2022s best and one of the best modern horrors yet!

Wow this is a crazy list for sure. i understand that is personal preferences but my god the last jedi this high, over the empire and new hope, prepare to prevent the comments from the star wars fandom myself included
Before Sunset was always a favorite of mine. Def my favorite of the series despite being the shortest. I always wondered if I was the only one who thought the 1st sequel was the best, and seeing the same ranking on this gives credence to my thoughts. Got a bit scored hitting the top 3 and not seeing it, only to be both surprised and satisfied to find it at #2.
I guess you can technically call it my number 1 of all time because Twin Peaks is Kind of a cheat inclusion. I got. to watch all three in the cinema on Monday night!!! Travelled 4 hours JUST for that marathon!!
It is always interesting to see another person's favorite films. I agree with many choices you made. Everyone has a right to like what they like. If it was my list I would drop a few and include: THE WILD BUNCH, WHITE HEAT, CHINATOWN, BARRY LYNDON, THE SEARCHERS, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, PATHS OF GLORY and RIO BRAVO. Just my opinion.
I'm feeling Kind of reluctant to Send of 150 films. It doesn' t matter if they are A favorites B Like a lot or C Good ones to recommend or to collect on movie picks.
I am very happy that finally someone mentions Charles Chaplin in my opinion the best director of all time literally he has films older than all the directors named except Akira Kurosawa and Alfred Hitchcock. :D
You are clearly a big fan of David Lynch, so am I. Decent list! Slightly too crowded with Lynch, Linklater, PT Anderson, Tarantino, and MCU+DC movies though.

Wonderful list and great editing ! I respect your choice of labelling "Twin Peaks : The Return" a movie (If I had done the same it would be in my top 10 undoubtedly). One thing was interesting to me : I personally didn't enjoy Boyhood (which I saw in the theater) despite the interesting process over time with the actors or the good acting, I found the subject matter and the realistic approach too bland. It is the only Linklater movie I saw. Based on this premise, do you think I would enjoy other Linklater movies nonetheless ? I seem to have very similar taste to you and I'm curious as to the fact that a lot of his movies are so high on your list ! Finally here's my personal top 10, that nobody asked for : 1. Mulholland Drive (2001) 2. Trainspotting (1996) 3. Shame (2011) 4. Lost Highway (1997) 5. Eyes Wide Shut (1995) 6. Twin Peaks, Fire Walk with Me (1992) 7. Lost in Translation (2003) 8. Koyaanisqatsi (1983) 9. Memento (2000) 10. Psycho (1960)
Absolutely amazing list mate! I’d honestly recommend another go at Boyhood… what I love about it is that it really doesn’t dramatise anything AT ALL. What a lot of people say is bland, I think is perfectly anti-superficial. Through it, it makes a strange sort of statement against what I don’t like about coming of age and even indie films in general. And I think over tiem, with different expectations for the film, I find it WAY more full of life than any other comparable film. And even if you’re not a Boyhood type of person, ABSOLUTELY check out Linklater’s other work. I know a lot of people who aren’t big on Boyhood but love the Before trilogy, Dazed and Confused, School of Rock etc… Appreciate the comment and love hearing different perspectives on these films!!
@@themovieguysam2590 thanks for your cool answer ! Concerning Boyhood, yeah I get that it's the opposite of other "coming-of-age" cliche movies. It's much more realistic and less artificial that what you typically see in these kind of movies which is supposed to be a positive, but I think this approach, mixed with such an "unremarkable" story (which is kind of by design as it's supposed to show an honest fragment of contemporary life) failed to get me on a more personal level as I ended up paying more attention to the interesting formal choices (for exemple - the filming of actors through their lifespan, natural ageing etc) than to the actual story. I couldn't really connect to the characters themselves as they weren't really introduced as "important" to my eyes. It's really tricky to explain, I guess I always need a bit more "dramatization" than that even though it's sometimes too much in movies these days. But I'll definitely try it again someday, as a lot of people around me whose taste I respect loved it as well And thanks, I'll definitely try other Linklater films, you've convinced me to watch "Before Sunset" when I have some time off 🤝
Glad someone is actully saying their favorite movies instead of a bunch of random art house movies that are super depressing (No shame to art house stuff I love it too but it doesn’t make you cooler if you say you didn’t like spider man 2)
Very, very great film (regardless of what people complain about the ending scene) I remember seeing it with my wife (then fiancé) in the theater and it being super intense. So authentic in its 1980 look.

This is an incredible list! Love to see many Tarantino films up there! Also huge W for having Star Wars sequels this high, they’re over-hated and I also really enjoy them. You obviously have great taste in film, so I’m gonna watch all the films on this list that I haven’t seen
My top 10 movies 1)Taxi driver 2)Interstellar 3)Prestige 4)Batman dark knight 5)No country for old men 6)Shawshank redemtion 7)Inception 8)Shutter island 9)Prisoners 10)Maze runner (There are 3 film series) There are more great movies too.
@@fSebastianRe completely agree,I’m the same way when it comes to science fiction like Star Wars,Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.it’s overrated but jut not my type of films
This is genuinely one of the absolute and most horrific lists I've ever witnessed... It's almost so bad I think it's one giant troll attempt but damn the editing is good.
This is such a wholesome list. Seriously, it wreaks of subjectivity and from the heart so much that I have to give it props. While it wouldn’t be mine, this person is being honest to their opinion over all else.
its so surreal seeing some of the best films of all time and then seeing films like The Force Awakens.
💀
I’m one of the 8 people who really likes Force Awakens but it’s not that good in my opinion
@@YourAveragePlayer432it’s a decent movie but saying it’s one of the best of all time is crazy. Its basically a copy of a New Hope.
Force Awakens was ok I thought
@@alejandrosanchez6404 He never said it’s one of the best of all time. These are his favorites
You can argue the placements, film is subjective afterall. But this is a great list and the editing was fantastic Sam. Also great to see someone has put so much David Lynch in the tier list, the guys a genius. I have to subscribe and would love to see more montages!
100% agreed
Lmao why would you argue the placements? That’s fucking ridiculous. It’s someone’s own personal list of favorites.
Everything with Aunt May’s speech is cut together so perfectly.
Damn glass onion over taxi driver is kinda crazy but I loved the way you made this video. That was one of best edited videos I’ve seen.
Yeah I reckon I’d move Glass Onion down now tbh. I made the list itself back in December when I’d only seen it once in the cinema, but with time I reckon it wouldn’t be anywhere near as high. Also Thank you!!!
And nop over a clockwork orange and the shinning for example lol
Great list that is clearly emphasis that is based on your tastes since most people won't admit it publically or make a list with MCU films, the new SW triliogy above taxi, or anything by Kubrick or Akira Kurosawa or john ford. I applaud you for that.
This was dope a lot of legendary films and film makers. Normally I never agree with these type of “top” videos but you were spot on 75% of the time for me. With that being said keep going we see you and they will too
Thank you! Of course this is just personal but I’m glad we’re 75% compatible😂
Incredible video, I can see the effort and dedication you have put into it, great list and I can only congratulate you
Great list! Some films I've never heard of, but I'm willing to find out about them.
Goes without saying but I absolutely recommend all of them!
Amazing list with so much variety, also amazing to see someone with so much PTA as i just love him so much, beautifully edited aswell buddy😁
❤️❤️
i love the fact that you use most of Richards film. Possibly Suburbia could be on this list, and dazed and confused is my personal favourite film
Honestly not a huge fan of Suburbia, but I still enjoyed it enough. Dazed and Confused is just fantastic though
You're list is Amazing.
Beauty of Films!
💯🎞📽🎬
So happy to see somebody that loves Linklater as much as I do!
Glad to see your love for ‘Us’! I thought that was brilliant and is ranked very high for me too!
It's a nice list because it's YOURS and that's all that matters. Mine would have some similarities and some differences. I would be interested in seeing if some of the films that you rate highly that were made after 2019 would be on the list 10 years from now
And a favorite films list ends with a TV series. If nothing else, seems like an honest list, which that aspect is nice.
It feels like more of a disservice to my own taste to NOT include it
@@themovieguysam2590
No one is saying you have to, just pointing out that films of that length exists, and are actually films, not tv series.
Amazing list and edit! Love seeing School of Rock and Magnolia so high!!
Finally someone who gives Linklater the credit he truly deserves!
Good mix between old/new, entertainment/intellectual
LOVE me some Linklater. He’s got so many underrated gems beyond just the Before Trilogy and Boyhood. Waking Life and Tape are masterpieces!!
@An ido I didn’t forget anything. Its my list. Ive also seen the Apu trilogy so yes, I know who he is
@@themovieguysam2590 I understand that you like Linklater, Lynch and Thomas Anderson, but why is there no film by Fellini, by Welles, by Ford, by Wong Kar Wai, by Bergman, by Coppola, by Lang, by Ejezenstein, by Vertov, by Tarkovsky or Spielberg?
And then the films of Hitchcock, Kubrick, Kurosawa or Scorsese are too low compared to films like ''The Force Awakens'' or all Marvel films.
@@theskimmies8131 I’ll tell you why… it’s called a personal list
Old boy at 147?? Madddd
Really respect this list, as in I trust these are your favourite movies and your not just showing off and acting pretentious like by putting a bunch of ingmar Bergman movies on it (I do like persona a lot though), it’s very sincere, great list👍 I also love how a lot of my favourite movies like lost highway, The Master, unbreakable and Toy Story made it on your list, my top 10 movies are consistent and don’t change a lot and they would have to be
10: Get Out (2017)
9: El Topo (1970)
8: Blue Velvet (1986)
7: Antichrist (2009)
6: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

3: Irreversible (2002)

A big Linklater and Lynch fan, love to see it
This is a really great edit! I'm gonna check some of these out.
You absolutely should!!!
Strange list, very eclectic. A lot of Richard Linklater films.
not only is this a great list, this video has great audio and editing. good job! I also love that you like guardians of the galexy, it has a special place in my heart. I also thought i was the only one that had GOTG 2 in my top 15.
Me rn: YOU HAVE US IN YOUR TOP 15! ( It is a great movie very underrated)
Also me rn: EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE YESSSSSS!
Also also me entering the top 10: NOPE IS HERE * choking noises * WHAT! (It seems like you are a big JP fan, so am i.
Love all of them!! MASSIVE Jordan Peele fan. Some of the most incredible movies of the entire century
That third act is on another level… going from that to Thor 4 was the biggest downgrade in cinema history
Agreed
Jojo Rabbit was around 25 on my top 100. Was my favorite film of 2019
I honestly don’t think jojo rabbit gets enough love and it should be on more of these lists, it’s one of my favorites personally
excellent video, Sam! great choices and editing

Much appreciated!!
Wow, big fan of David Lynch and Paul Thomas Anderson
Yup😂
Love the profile pic btw. I got to see Possession in the cinema back in October!!
Great list.
i am surprised though that they are absolutely no Christopher Nolan movies.
But it's refreshing to see someone do that.
Memento is the only one I LOVE to be honest
Good collection, very well edited. Just subbed, keep going
Thank you so much!!
bro loves Richard Linklater, PTA, and David Lynch
Great video and list. Well edited too
77 out of the 150 are Richard Linklater films. Lovely!
@@aleksanderskaarnes haha! Certainly feels that way
Let me start by congratulating you on the beauty of this video. Now I want to make my own
Absolutely LOVE this comment. Very much appreciated my friend, you should absolutely go for it!!!
Include LOTR as a trilogy if you want, I almost did that for the Before Trilogy, it’s absolutely worth it
Great list, liked the audio arrangement of quotes, thanks, Scott.
Thank you for including Boyhood in top 3!!! It's one of my fav movie...
Well made. I personally despise half the films here, but the video is bloody well-made. Respect!
Thank you!!

Excellent video. The editing is fantastic, and the list is really good too.
Some amazing choices in there!!
Brilliant intro😂and fabulous mixture 🍻
I don't know how I feel about the rest of the list, but goddamn have you got the number one down. No question.

Finally here's my personal top 10, that nobody asked for :
1. Mulholland Drive (2001)
2. Trainspotting (1996)
3. Shame (2011)
4. Lost Highway (1997)
5. Eyes Wide Shut (1995)
6. Twin Peaks, Fire Walk with Me (1992)
7. Lost in Translation (2003)
8. Koyaanisqatsi (1983)
9. Memento (2000)
I know a lot of people who aren’t big on Boyhood but love the Before trilogy, Dazed and Confused, School of Rock etc…
Appreciate the comment and love hearing different perspectives on these films!!
But I'll definitely try it again someday, as a lot of people around me whose taste I respect loved it as well
And thanks, I'll definitely try other Linklater films, you've convinced me to watch "Before Sunset" when I have some time off 🤝
"Cafe De Flore " is worth a watch
incredible, thanks!
Great list.
Glad someone is actully saying their favorite movies instead of a bunch of random art house movies that are super depressing (No shame to art house stuff I love it too but it doesn’t make you cooler if you say you didn’t like spider man 2)

I have!
Very, very great film (regardless of what people complain about the ending scene) I remember seeing it with my wife (then fiancé) in the theater and it being super intense. So authentic in its 1980 look.
Damn, you got linklaters whole filmography on here!
Certainly a lot😂

Much better than the original one.Thanks.
your fav 150 does not have ONE of my 13 favorites....lol
This is an incredible list! Love to see many Tarantino films up there! Also huge W for having Star Wars sequels this high, they’re over-hated and I also really enjoy them. You obviously have great taste in film, so I’m gonna watch all the films on this list that I haven’t seen
How could you leave out one flew over the cuckoo's nest 😢😢💔and the godfather 😢😢
It’s a list of favourites it’s subjective
Hey man which software did you use to edit this video
@@sirliridon.4419 Adobe Premiere Pro! I use it for all my videos👍🏼
Awesome!
My top 10 movies
1)Taxi driver
2)Interstellar
3)Prestige
4)Batman dark knight
5)No country for old men
6)Shawshank redemtion
7)Inception
8)Shutter island
9)Prisoners
10)Maze runner (There are 3 film series)
There are more great movies too.
No Country For Old Men was superb.
I remember seeing it in the theater in 2007 and even the scenes where nothing actually happens being super intense!
@@patrickc3419 yeah its great
Bad list
Wow a list without dark knight, inception and interstellar is insane.still a respectable list!
There all overrated. Good list but Christopher Nolan is not the only great director. Refreshing to see a top 100 without those films for once.
Damn. Thanks for the editing compliment though!
@@themovieguysam2590 lol XD don't worry he'll die someday as will you.
is this a serious comment? lmao
Wow ok
