As a tackle snob, I certainly agree, the exprides B is a beautiful rod. I exclusively use Nrx,conquests, steez and P5s. These rods hang with them for sure at half the price. I still love my snob tackle, but the exprides found a home on my arsenal.
@JinnyBoy20203/8th oz cranks might be pushing it. Max lure weight it recommends is 7/16 which technically means 3/8 would fit in that, but there are better rods for the job. I generally dont go over 1/4-5/16 oz with this one. Step up in power if I want to throw something in that range. I would look into a heavier rod power like a medium light-medium if you want to go the spinning route. Or just grab a specific cranking baitcaster rod if it’s something you throw a lot.
Also keep in mind the gauge of wire on your hooks. Some trebles have thicker diameter wires than others and the light spinning rod won’t allow you to penetrate the hooks properly unless theyre thinner
Agreed. I talked about this in some of other videos. Shimano, megabass and even Daiwa have very well constructed rods. G-loomis have quality control issues with esthetics but they also have the best blanks.
@@ChewyThaoFishing great video! I throw a lot of weightless senkos, shallow cranks, and poppers. Do you think this rod would do well with those applications?
I recently purchased the 6' 10" ML model and the rod is pretty dang soft but I think the action is gonna be money for ned rigs, dropshots and small jerkbaits. I have mine paired with the new Exsence 3000 and it's the lightest combo I own. It feels unreal with how light and balanced it is.
Yup! That’s the common theme but that faster action will help with sensitivity and overall performance. Excited to land some giant smallies with this rod!
Thanks for watching and thanks for the recommendation. With the ice melting and gone, that will definitely be part of my videos going forward. Appreciate the viewership!
Love my 2 expride b rods. I got the 7’2 ml and the 7’6mh and they both say versatile on the rod. I wonder if all there rod say versatile on them. But I love my 7’2 ml for Ned rig mostly but you can easily fish drop shot and weightless senkos no problem. I use my 7’6 for Carolina rigging and football jigs and you can do a lot more with it if you want. With that being said the rod is sensitive, light and looks sweet. Great video and keep up the great work👍
Thanks for watching, Jason! That 7'2 ml has been talked about quite often on my threads - it definitely is on my list for the next spinning modle. You are right on about the rods being sensitive. They did a fantastic job of upgrading an "all already good rod" to a great rod. Appreciate the feedback and as always, thank you for watching!
Ever had a chance to try the Poison Adrena version? I'd be curious to see how they differ, but I can't find anything on the forums except that apparently the "balance is off" on the Adrena.
@@ChewyThaoFishing I saw the video, just more wondering how people like the adrena version of the ever popular 7’ spinning Expride. I had the A model and thought it was awesome, since moved on to the Windbuster as my all purpose rod. Been wondering what the particular Adrena was like.
I’m thinking about picking up the 7L for some river fishing to throw lures in that 1/8-1/4 range. What are the Pros/cons of it and what do you throw on it?
@@string551 yes i agree. however it has a beautiful bend. it can throw 1/8 just fine. i did alot of river fishing with it as well for bass and steelheads.
I have a question so if this rod is a medium fast action rod then what about the light rod then? Example EXS70MB what’s the light rod code numbers then? EXS70LB?
I’m tored between this exact rod that you review and the Phenix Recon Bass Elite 7’2” medium. Don’t know which one I should get. Anyone have any experience with the Phenix Recon Bass Elite? Is it worth just to buy the Expride instead?
I would say that they are on par but the Expride may have the advantage. St croix has a history of having rods that are labeled as fast action but they are more towards the moderate action. St croix has always been a walleye rod manufacturer and it shows a little bit with the action tapers.
@@ChewyThaoFishing i just got the 7'2ML Expride i throw 1/8oz jig heads up to 3/8 chatterbaits BUT i have to choose between Expride or St. Croix eyecon 7'1M
im looking for a good rod for tubing for smallmouth up north that would have enough back bone to penetrate the hook if I stupid rig the tube and be able to throw 1/8 to 3/8 without too much bend in the tip (I like a bit stiffer rods) any recommendations?
I read that the B are stiffer than the A models. Would you recommend a medium or medium light Expride B spinning rod for small jerkbaits (vision 110 jr and smaller)?
Hey ken! I would go 72ml, if you wanted just a weightless plastic rod. The 7 medium is great but for weightless plastics, the ml would be a little better suited for that specific technique.
Thanks for watching! If you have the A, it is not worth the upgrade. However, if you buy brand new and for the same price, buy the B. It is a little lighter, stiffer and I feel a little more sensitivity out of that rod, compared to the A.

That's a helluva arsenal bro, you have any poison models?
For those wondering, the 7’0 L is a phenomenal okashira head, hair jig, and dropshot rod IMO
Yeah a 2500 size reel would pair really well. I got a 2500 vanford light as a feather. 10lb braid to 7-8lb fluror leader 👌🏼

Nice update from the older rod handle and seat. Please let us know if you think the actions are faster or stiffer from previous models!
Thanks for watching! So far, the rod actions are a tad bit faster than the Expride a. I’ll report back after I spend some more time with the rod.
Just ordered one for inshore…plan to put the new Saltiga 4000xh on it! Can’t wait 🎉

How about some on the water clips too with the equipment u talk about. Wanna see that antares in action

I wondered what they wrapped the handle in and its aluminum.
Yup, it’s made out of Shimano’s ci4 material.
@ChewyThaoFishing right but it's incased in an air grade aluminum handle. Very interesting.
i really like this rod. i also like the 7L and also the 7MH+

Do you recommend the 6’10 medium for jerkbaits?
Yes! A great jerkbait option.

Is the handle slick? I’ve never held one. Looks like it would get slippery when your hands get wet.
Thanks for watching and asking! The handle does not get slick. Even when it rains, the given texture remains the same and grippy.
Where can I buy this for $250? Looking at getting this. Thanks

Thanks, Raymond!
On this rod what reel be best for it the vanquish C3000xg or the vanquish 3000mhg
I want to ned and drop shot 1/4? 7'2 m or ml
Definitely ML if you keep it to those applications.

72ML or 7M for Senko?
