The Lew's skeleton reel will grab the line and wrap it up good in the bale. I've had that problem before but is a thing even worse with thinner 6 lbs monofilament line gets better with thicker 12 lbs monofilament line.

I mentioned it in another video but I've been getting back into watching fishing and came back to ur channel and you've jump started the motor for me wanting to fish again after 2 yrs of not throwing a single lure. I've busted the gear out n lined the reels and tied on lures to hit the water. Thanks Lojo 👍🏼

Don't know anything about that zebco but I've used the other two. I used that lews reel on crappie set up, it felt great but didn't hold up long the drag got super finicky pretty quick and the spring that operates the bell broke. That shimano on the other hand has held up great for me, ive used it for over a year. I think that shimano is a really good budget reel.

I personally have the lews Mr.trout, been using it on my 6’ medium light rod for a little while now and I absolutely love it, even got a solid 4 pounder on it.
25:56 my 80s ryobi reel I got for free was doing that till I took it apart and greased it and adjusted the drag. Smooth as butter now 😎

I have 2 of those Shimano 2500 's ...yes they are cheap but they are great reels...I fish lake Okeechobee at least 5 days a week, and have regularly caught 5lb plus bass and catfish...the 20 dollar Shimano 2500 s have never let me down, after 2 years they still perform flawless
Lojo I was told the amount of line causes those wind knots, I’m not sure but the fuller the spool the better the line goes out and comes in

The shimano fx 2500hg is a great reel. It has a smooth drag and it even has a 6.2.1 gear ratio. Can’t go wrong with the shimano

Haha, i use to have a little paddle boat like those when i was younger. They're great if you fish in small ponds or lakes but anything bigger or anything with current is going to give you a major workout. Use to take mine to the local Creek and float down to the deeper holes you couldn't get to by wading. It was always a blast until trying to get back upstream, the current would push the boat just as fast as you could paddle it in spot effectively meaning you would sit in place paddling to no avail. All in all it was a lot of fun though and i could definitely recommend them for someone who wanted one!

Actually that Shimano FX reels is quite popular here, for begineers and somone who just started fishing. And most of the top brands here has their cheaper and more popular rell locally made or made in our neighbouring countried such as Vietnam or Thailand. I thought it's mainly for South East Asian market but never have guessed it would end up in stores across the Pacific. :P
That's actually a great one man boat!!! Sit in the middle! Totally stable! You can stand up! I fly fished from one no problem!!!

I bought a Mr Trout at Dicks years ago and put it on a little Shimano rod. My wife wanted a small combo. It's barely been used. It feels great. I'm gonna try using it . Maybe on some bluegill. I lost a nice Rainbow on a setup like that before. It was too much for it.😅
I hooked up to a bundle of line that had a trout still attached to the hook like that just last week haha
(That'd be a cute little boat for your back yard.) This was going to be an interesting video from the get go. Shows that maybe a minimum of $50 should be spent. Heck... for $60, you can get a Daiwa Regal LT. Best bang for your buck that I know of. ...That Wind "Nest" on the Zebco is why I started using braid as backing on ALL my spinning reels. Then to see it happen again later. Reminded me of trips I had when I was in my 30's. (42 - 30years ago fishing time) Don't think I'll ever go back to straight mono. Don't think that the wind knots were the fault of the reels per say. It's the old mono memory problem. 1/3 mono, double uni to braid, mono or flouro leader. Been working great for over a year now. The Lew's would have functioned better with 10 lb. or 8 lb. 12 is where you start getting into a LOT of wind know issues with lighter lures. ...Test wise, to be fair, I think your reels should have been on lighter action rods, except for the Shimano 2500. From my experience, go with a minimum of the Regal LT series by Daiwa. I slowly upgraded from there. That said, I am mostly an ultra lite fisherman when it comes to Spinning. LOVE it! Had the 2500hg on a 6'6" medium fx rod for over a year, and it's still solid. Caught a 9.89lb channel cat on it, 😅

Man I love cheap combos they have always worked the best for me I have the $10 walmart combo I've had for 7 or 8 years took very good care of it still works perfectly amazing video as always I can't wait for the next one

The casting issue with the zebco was more of an issue with the line rather than the reel. I've been using the same stinger for like 4 years with no problems. They're low quality, but work fine. But NEVER use zebco or omniflex line..
Yeah I swear I’m about to buy a dang push button for back up when I’m fishing! I’m TIRED of all the issues with reels man haha and the rod tips break off so easy it’s really frustrating

That 29$ shimano is actually great quality, I use one on my microlite set up… never had any issues

I bought the Zebco Stinger in 2 different sizes, and they both got bad wind knots with the pre-spooled line. Couldn't get it to stop until I took the line off.
Fishing challenge like “gun game “ call of duty style. Starting with the oldest like hand line or cane pole or whatever then transition to modern poles lures n such!
Noticed you never mentioned the make/model rods you paired the reels with. Looked to me like the 2500 size Shimano was mounted on the highest end rod.

I've used the Zebco Stinger before. It's all you need for pan fishing.
Couple things I've learned after starting my reel repair business:
-Lew's/zebco/quantum are all owned by the same company
-lews customer service is phenomenal, they really stand behind their stuff
-quantum is IMPOSSIBLE to find parts for
I also can't fish a spinning reels unless they have instant anti reverse.
Under the $30 price point, the Shimano sienna cannot be beat. $60 and less the pfluger president is king

Closest thing I have to your experience is snagging line in a lake, pulling the line up and its attached to a crusty dock demon kids rod, check to see if it functions and proceed to reel in a 1.5lb channel cat on the crusty dock demon 😂

I fish mostly from shore so my casts usually have to be long unless I can find a public pier or I am river fishing in my canoe so I have long casting spinning reels mostly. There are no bass anywhere in my state I can't catch with eight pound mono.

Reels sound fun to beat on
in almost 40 years of fishing, nearly exclusively with spinning reels, i've had two fail. a shakespeare failed last week, mega failure, fell apart in my hands after almost 20 years of hard work (rod is still money). and a cheap shimano that failed after maybe 10 years. 2 bearings or 10, plastic or aluminum or unobtanium, if you take care of it and can fish worth a damn it will last.
I would love and cherrish all the reels i will add them to my collection

As someone who is usually stuck using the cheapest gear, it's nice to see those items working. I've never fished with a real that cost more than $50, so with that, most reals are "nice" in my eyes
