excellent advice, experience counts.
Thanks for the good tips. I especially like the idea of stuffing the tent, though I always fold mine. I find that folding it has the advantage of being able to be later put up with less wetting of the inner during heavy rain, but I hate folding as I'm so hit and miss about it.
Up to now I've always put the bottom stakes in when pitching my Nammatj GT before guying out the storm lines but often have a far less than good pitch. I'm going to practice doing it as you have suggested.

I add contrasting colour loops to the 4 main pegging points so they can be found easily.
I may add an extra one to the lead guy line that you held in your teeth ;-)
It is good to see a 'practical', thought through, method for gathering the tent for the "just stuff it into the bag" step.
Wonderful tents. The children used to climb through the vents when they were young - They have their own Hillebergs now.

Taught me so much just now! The first time I piched in my yard, I struggled with the poles. I struggled putting the tent back up as well. I'm glag I came across this video. I will set up my tent again for the second time next week. I think it will go better this time because, I now know how to insert and extract the poles and even how to fold the poles, which I didnt even know I was doing wrong the first time. Thank you so much!

Good to see someone showing the same technique I use on the 'pole shoving' step!. Also make sure the tensioners are pulled tight, rather than simply taking up the slack.
There's a little knack to holding the pole cup and sliding your fingers behind the link strap so that they are tensioned easily!

Thanks Matti, some good points worth noting there. Hilleberg's pitching video for the Nammatj 2 is pretty good and perhaps those videos are worth mentioning here, but I especially liked your advice about making sure the tent is stretched out nicely at the outset before pegging it down. And also the part about folding the poles from the middle when packing up - it didn't occur to me that it might benefit the elastic cords, plus it saves a little time (as does keeping the guy line at top of the stuff sack for stormy weather!) Thanks again, like your style.

Good quality content as usual. To be fair, setting up my 2 man Hilleberg tent the first time was not very easy and I did it as part of training in ideal conditions. Had a good look at their instruction video... Some details are not that intuitive, like how you get the poles into the pool pockets on one side and why exactly this is better compred to just sticking the poles into the loop of the pole pouch/pocket and then into the ground instead of into the "pocket". I undertand why now, but it was not very intuitive.
The tent feel advanced and potent, but I did not like how the innermost short side tends to hang low inside, If sleeping with head in that direction, the face got pretty close the inner tent wall. Tension on the outer tent did not help this issue on the inner tent.
From now on I'll be folding the pole beginning at the middle. I've been folding them beginning at one end. I have the Hilleberg Enan dark green fabric.
TIP---I gather up 8 big heavy rocks BEFORE I start pitching the tent. This way, I have a big heavy rock within reach that I can IMMEDIATELY put on top of each tent stake after pounding it into the ground. It normally takes more time & effort to gather up the 8 big heavy rocks than it does to pitch the tent.
TIP---I've taken a short piece of much brighter & more reflective paracord & attached it to each peg. I've done this to make them easier to find when taking my tent down.
Like you, I keep the peg bag in along with the tent pole sleeve, all goes into the tent bag & everything is attached to my backpack's exterior.

AZ-C - I have an Enan but find it hard to pitch it with even tension along both halves of both sides when I have to pitch on even ground, this despite 35 years of tent pitching experience. I've no issues with this when I pitch on my back lawn. Any tips from your experience?
@@thewestonfront I think I want to modify my Enan a little bit with an extra elastic guy line in middle of the side and close to the ground.

@@thewestonfront I discovered the short fiberglass rod at the foot end of the tent (the end of the tent facing into the wind) Sinks into the ground if the ground is soft. When it sinks into the ground the tent loses some tension. I've gotten in the habit of packing a flat stone where the base of the fiberglass rod meets the ground. I stomp the stone into the ground then when I place the base of the rod on top of the flat stone it has a solid foundation & the tent stays tensioned.
I pitch my tent same as Hilleberg Enan tent pitching video with one exception. I gather up 8 big heavy stones BEFORE I start pitching my tent. This way, when I pound a stake into the ground I have a heavy rock within reach that I can put on top of the stake as soon as the stake is in the ground.
Please let me know if the lat rock under the fiberglass rod is any help.
Thanks. Great video. I just got the Nammatj 2 GT and put it up for the first time in the dark after watching your tips. It was a very windy night and I had some rain come through the vent facing the wind (even when it was closed). Have you experienced that before? For taking the tent down in the wind I removed the side guy line pegs, and then the end ones facing away from the wind, then the poles, and then the final pegs at the windy end. The material is quite slippy, but managed to stuff it all in the sack. All the best. Cheers from UK.

Great video but I'm unlucky and am always camping on eneven ground or rock hard ground! This tent is a nightmare when you can't get pegs in the ground (too hard or pure rock) and there is no stones to use as anchor points! I just had this experience with my Anjan 3. I could net even get 1 peg into the ground, there was ZERO rocks and the mosquitos were attacking me. I almost wanted to scream! I had to walk around hundreds of meters before I found some soft soil to set up. But not well - I could only get the 4 corners in the ground. Then a huge windstorm came up in the middle of the night and I had to get out of my tent in the middle of the night as I was camped 3m from the edge of a huge cliff and I was worried I'd get blown off. You are right - with a tunnel tent if you don't set it up properly it will flap like crazy and you won't sleep!
I really think you should have one of the freestanding tents... ylas you said you really need some soft ground for your pegs if you use a tunnel tent.
But... I have seen som people using climbing gear and lots of thin ropes that they could extend the nines with. Then they can pitch the tents in more difficult terrain.

Sometimes its a case of putting the pegs 'in' sideways to act as a T-anchor. But if it's really rocky, you have my sympathy.

The trousers in this video is Klättermusen Gere. They are really good and last long time. Little bit heavy so I usually don't use them for hiking tours when I prefer light weight equipment.

Do you have tips according to re-tensioning the tent after it got whet? (Elongnation of the Sylnylon) thanks a lot, liked the tip of the upper guy line, and folding the sticks, and saving the lifetime of the flexrope inside)

I haven't really seen that as an problem that wet fabric needs to be re-tighted. ...but as you say it... it's probably true. I'm usually gives all the lines some extra tension before I go to bed anyway so maybe I haven't seen it. 😀

thank you for this good video Matti. I planning to buy the nammatj 2, for me and my dog, for kayak trips. So very handy for me how you set up this awesome tent. I think the most important for a tunnel tent is to set up with the front in the wind. 1 question, can the Nammatj handel condensation better then the Allak 2?
I have the feeling that Nammatj and Nallo handle the condensation better than Allak. With this tunnel tents you can get the wind going through the whole tent. That's something I really love about the tunnel tents.
Before you get the Nammatj you had to check the Nallo... I don't know if it is the right tent for you but that is a really good tent if you mostly use it during 3-season.
Nammat is a better winter tent.

@@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA Thank you for the answer. The Nallo has more condensation problems then the Nammatj. Because the nallo has one ventilation vent very low at the bottom and 1 high like the Nammatj. The Bottom vent don't work good. I go for the nammatj also is the tent over kill for me. But with kayak trips no problems.
Does this method of inserting the pole work with larger tunnel tents?
Yes… I think so… I have no problem with the tents I have been using.

Which side goes towards the wind? The entrance or the opposite end?
I want the foot part against the wind. Then the moisture from cooking macaroni will be pulled out from the vestibule instead of getting pushed through the hole tent.

Vi gjorde en test på ett Colemantält förra året vilket jag har för mig är ett ännu billigare tält. Vi har även ett Big Agnestält i bruk som kostar ca 4000kr just nu och det kommer en fullständig review på det också nu under sommaren.

Hilleberg är superkvalite men också väldigt mycket pengar. Jag tror att om man inte tältar i extrema miljöer och inte bor i det vecka ut och vecka in så kan man hitta andra klart prisvärda alternativ.
