This week, we’re exploring the dark but beautiful life, and work, of one of the most iconic fashion designers of the late 20th and early 21st century.
Alexander McQueen was one of the most celebrated fashion designers of his generation, known for his highly original designs that combined pure artistry with exceptional technical ability.
For McQueen, fashion was a vehicle to convey or express complex ideas and concepts - he challenged and pushed the boundaries of fashion beyond just clothing and into a conceptual expression of culture, politics, and identity.
McQueen's work was admired for its highly original blend of subversion and tradition. He was more than just a fashion designer - he was a performance artists who’s chosen medium of expression was fashion.

...i was lucky enough to get the museum book from the SAVAGE BEAUTY exhibit...his tailoring...was INSANE..and i have to say his impact on VISUAL CULTURE...cannot be stressed enough....he really pushed the boundaries of PRESENTATION...a fact that during his lifetime wasnt really appreciated until he was gone...but the same people....who didnt care for his visual acumen.....i will not say who....jumped on the idea of presenting him as a visual power...when it boosted their prestige and profile.....you did a wonderful job...BRAVO...

I saw the Savage Beauty exhibition at V&A 5 years ago. I cried when I saw Kate’s hollogram, with the Schindler’s List theme song playing on the background. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve seen. McQ was the real showman. I miss him. Great vid, thank you!
