    I wonder if todays generation understand that in the sixty’s actors on television were not considered on the same level as someone in films. Few TV actors actually made it to the big screen.
    This interview shows how honest Johnny is.

      I agree with you--I can remember only a few actors/actresses wanting to dabble in television after being in films. They see being on tv as something that beneath them as opposed to starring in films.
      I wonder if Johnny would be willing to go back to television in this era. Ever since the advent of streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBOMax, etc. a lot of acclaimed actors and actresses have starred in multiple award winning television shows, whether they were limited series or full on television shows.

      @@robsrules5777 I remember him saying that from way back. It reached a point where someone who worked on it wrote an angry letter to Rolling Stone about him making remarks about it in an interview. This was well past the time he left the show too. I didn't watch it when it first aired. There's a DVD set of it and some channels play the reruns. A lot of episodes are on RUclips too. I think his reasons make sense, even though I did enjoy the show.

      @@robsrules5777 they kept the show going a lot longer than expected. It was starting to "jump the shark" by the time he left. He also took issue with some of the plotlines- the cop characters being dishonest, one episode where the suspect is murdered because he's mistaken for the "narc," one where the undercover cops burn a cross in someone's yard. It was one of those "issue of the week" shows. The writing was better at first.

      @@robsrules5777 he also wanted to work with the guy who played Sargent Jenko, Frederic Forrest. They killed his character off at the beginning of the 2nd season. For the show, I like Sargent Fuller (his replacement) better. I just can't make sense of how the first guy is a cop.

    Maybe that's the reason James Dean had a death wish. He was being shaped into a product just like Marilyn Monroe. They might have felt it unbearable to know that idol and godlike status would end one day.

    Johnny seemed fine with the money until they brought in Richard Greico and suddenly they had two leading men on 21 jump street. Later on one of the studios biggest complaints was all the money they had to pay Johnny Depp to come back and play Captain Jack Sparrow over and over again even when the franchise started to tank. Depp is totally commercial he just tries to pretend like he's not.

    • @DXChrisCross
      @DXChrisCross Год назад +2

      We'll, he's always said he never wanted to be on 21 Jumpstreet. He only took the job to work with Fredrick Forrester, who left the show almost immediately. Richard Grieco was never going to be long term. The Dennis Booker character was originally written to be killed in the episode "Narc" but fans liked his character so much, they rewrote the episode. However, because there were too many characters, they gave him his own spin off. Depp's main complaints with the show were they didn't let him explore his creativity and take the character in strange directions because the studio wanted to project the heartthrob image. His other complaint was the hypocrisy. The message was always anti-drug, meanwhile, most involved in the show (writers, producers) were literally doing lines off the scripts on set.

    A “tragedy” Johnny, really? It’s dumb, yes, but hardly a tragedy. The destruction of the free press, is a tragedy. The cost of living, is a tragedy. Our own leaders forcing vaccines on its own population, in a free country, is a tragedy. These same leaders shaming any dissent, any form of opposition, to any of their polices, currently destroying the American working and middle class, is a complete tragedy. Roe v wade been debated by individual states, instead of by the Supreme Court of a massive country of 350,000,000, is true to the law, sensible, and has nothing whatsoever to do with banning a practice, that is hard to logically defend anyway, since the creation of birth control, is not a tragedy.
