    This guitar looks like something Gibson just threw out there to see if "anything goes" so to speak... pure horror. But sounds really good in the right hands, as we all can testify. Well played, sir.

      Hi Ville and thanks :-) Yes, I feel as though this was the 'Pilot' toes if there was any take-up before they put the Standard version into mainstream production. I admire Gibson's bravery with guitars like this and it's certainly divided opinion! Cheers, Gary :-)

    I really like the shape of the guitar. I hope it has transparent amber body, black head, caramel on the back and roasted bolt-on neck and satin finish. how great if Amazon sells it for 250 bucks.

    Hi Gary, what a fantastic instrument. I love everything about this one. Ted McCarty must have been the Jules Verne of guitars with a different vision of the future to most folks. To me there's nothing that says designed in 1957 with this one. If I ever got to have a strum on one of these it would feel like a privilege with so few being out there.

      Hi Rod :-) When the Explorer, Flying V and the Firebird came out in 1957 the public must've thought the Martians had landed. So what better thing to do than buy all three and put them in the back of your Citroen DS1500 hahahahaha. Cheers, Gary :-)

    HI Gary, What a Find Mate! It's Beautiful! And Rare! I love the Guitar. And The Two P90's. What a Visionary Ted McCarty was! A Futuristic Guitar Designer. Well Ahead of his Time. I'm Fortunate to Own a Gibson Twin Pickup Mahogany/Walnut Neck Firebird Guitar 🎸. Fitted with a Vintage Maestro Vibrola.
    But I Adore Your Find this Week Mate. It's Gorgeous. Well Done 👏👏. Enjoy The Bank Holiday. Rgds Mick!🎸

      Hi Gordon :-) They're truly lovely to play. I'd like to have a go on one of the Standard issues although they'll no doubt be a bit heavier due to the mahogany body and extra weight from the additional hardware. Cheers, Gary :-)

    • @FoxysGuitarShow
      @FoxysGuitarShow  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Tom :-) We know this design was from 1957 but it can't have been a great big secret because there's half a dozen makes from the 70's that used this tulip shape, too. Teisco, Ibanez and a few others made similar shaped guitars. There's only one Gibson Custom Shop though :-) Cheers, Gary :-)

    No offense intended; you play beautifully, and the guitar sounds amazing- but that's the ugliest guitar I've ever laid eyes on. It sounds incredible though, can't deny that- but the fact that I've only seen maybe 2-3 of these, ever- and it sounds that good- proves ppl do care what their guitar looks like- far more than they want to admit. It looks really thin- is it light weight? Looks like it would be- which is something that matters more and more to me. Just turned 52 and I have back issues- playing a heavy guitar kills me now. I can't afford a Gibson though- especially not some limited edition whatever. Nice guitar though- congrats- I'm sure it's a great investment.

    • @FoxysGuitarShow
      @FoxysGuitarShow  3 месяца назад

      Hi Stoney and thanks :-) I have been told it's a guitar that only a mother could love! It weighs about the same as a packet of crisps and I always advise people to buy a guitar they like the look of over anything else. The first taste of anything is through the eye. Cheers, Gary :-)
